It looks great! But it seems that Gina's hologram isn't hologram at all. It doesn't glow.

Hey Tetsu0, I've downloaded your map and found some more oversights:
-The ladder and doors in the suit charger room are inproperly textured;
-The rubbish bin looks a bit too big.

Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately what's done is done and i didn't have the time to check for such details.

I'm a terrible procrastinator and the majority of this work was completed over the last 3 weeks.

Your map plays fine and architecture is very interesting. I'm sure that you will at least get silver for both the architecture and the idea. Those oversights aren't much of a problem. I might test some of your projects in future as I have more than enough time for it.

Competition was closed on 1st of April. Results will never be posted because the compo was actually an April fools joke
It was also a ruse to get people to upload maps to the map vault, therefore helping the sites meta which boosted its Google analytic ranking and therefore produced more ad revenue, which goes to the admins.

Who are also the judges of the competition?

Ohhhhh COINCIDENCE!!!?!?!?
Posted 6 years ago2017-04-04 13:44:16 UTC Post #334225
Forever to be known as the lost compo, both judges along with all their notes were lost in a horrific moonshine fire. Since we can now never hope to know which winners the judges would've picked, plaese send all prize to:

Hi Dario,

Huge fan of your work. I just thought you should know that the 15-year-old mapping website TWHL hosted a recent competition entitled "Half-Life Re-imagined" wherein the competitors were tasked with recreating a favourite classic map from HL with a notable twist.

Almost across the board all entries were based on Crossfire (including my own) and it was so cool to see the love that the community still has for that map.

You created one of the most iconic deathmatch maps of all time, and approaching its 20-year anniversary people still adore it.

Hell yeah, Dario. Hell yeah.

Thanks so much for your time and for the countless hours of fragging,
James Archibald
Hi James,

Thanks for your kind words about Crossfire - that map was so much fun to develop and play! It was my first attempt at a team deathmatch map, when the game didn't organize people into teams, but if people wanted to play together to secure the bunker, they could.

I'm humbled and grateful that the map still gets attention and play some almost 20 years later!

I took a look at your re-imagining of Crossfire and it brought back some great memories! You kept faithful to the original feel of the map and it looks clean and well built, nice job!

Best of luck in all your mapping adventures going forward!

Dario

Neat. Were there really that many Crossfire-inspired maps? Thinking back on it, I guess there were...

Well mine wasn't, and Jessies wasn't... But other than that off the top of my head I can't remember who else's wasn't!

Cool you got a hold of Dario though, Arch!

Zeeba-G's entry was a stalkyard-inspired map.
Posted 6 years ago2017-05-18 09:56:56 UTC Post #334952
mine was also stalkyard+crossfire inspired :D

Also any progress judges :D?
Posted 6 years ago2017-05-18 11:12:00 UTC Post #334953
To be honest, I wanted to participate too. But my SP-map was terrible and since I was new to this site I didn't know that the competition deadline will be extended. So I just abandoned that project.

I worked on test chamber, and then on "On a rail" dm level, haven't got to actually do anything worth submitting though.

Still aiming to finish mine in the near future.

It seems that basing my remaster on a forgettable original map has made it also forgettable... Is that a point in my favour? :P

@zeeba-G

What's with your stalkyard remake btw?
Posted 6 years ago2017-06-27 17:04:26 UTC Post #335771
Thanks for asking Windawz. I scrapped it when my models were too complex to import. I didn't want to restart the models and the whole concept of that scheme was "interactive animated models" i.e. a claw that could grab the player and move them around... I have too many deadlines right now to keep up with more like the competition but i'm glad I made an attempt.

I only play surf maps and scoutzknivez these days so my map is sort of a surf like map, but with floating islands and bounce pads.
Posted 6 years ago2017-06-28 09:14:49 UTC Post #335776
I played surf maps before, but they looked so ugly that I just lost any interest to them. Some even didn't have any lights at all!

Also, do you have the .rmf of that stalkyard remake? I could finish it for you, even without the models.
