What do you mean your browser doesn't have half-implemented clients for email, IRC, RSS, Bittorrent, web hosting, and a web proxy?
@TJB: That deleting thing is because NTFS technically supports file paths longer than 256 characters but Microsoft doesn't implement support for it in most built-in apps for backwards compatibility reasons.
WinRar happily supports long paths and will create them when extracting archives but then explorer can't deal with them... which is a bit of a problem.
That's a problem with all Windows versions but they've
added the ability in Windows 10 to support long paths, but you run the risk of breaking older software (but I doubt it).
In the registry set
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\LongPathsEnabled to 1. But the WinRar deletion work-around is handy and I've used it before.
