Yeah I said like you said doesn't work for prefab factory -> Just use workaround with copy and past if you work simple with copy and past like this I explain you
Copy and past from prefab.rmf or prefab.jmf to your mapCopy and past from prefab.rmf or prefab.jmf to your map

Because I am slow cause I have slept bad yesterday. That is reason. I will continue my work-in-process with xeno

But I am really happy because compilations under Linux are very faster than Windows-Farmers - penguins run faster.

Hey guys, I don't know if you discussed this but I just thought up a cool idea!

When the competition is finished and judged and whatnot, we should put all the maps submitted in the contest into one large Half Life mod! Of course, each level would need a solid transition of level change which would need the vmf to be modified after the competition, but I think it would be awesome that everybody's level could be played together in a mod.

Though its still quite early to judge and even plan for this concept since we don't even have the levels yet and some of the entries could have no gameplay to them, we should still attempt this later on and make it a birthday gift to Half Life's 20th anniversary!

Already thinking about it makes me 100x hyped up more than HL3...

The idea of doing a competition "roundup" once done is really good IMO - having one single thing to download rather than having to download a bunch of maps is much easier for punters to digest. I think rather than trying to have any sort of coherent transition between levels, a fade in / out or just straight level transition would probably be best to minimise any huge workload that may entail.

you could just hide a "next level" button somewhere in the level. but every map would need to be re-compiled in order to do that hah

That is true, this is definitely a big project but it will be so worth it. It's definitely an option for a fade in / out if the geometry of every level doesn't match up but we'll have to see once every map is completed.

Found some time tonight to do some more work on this in the early hours of the morning. Not as much as I was wanting to do because I fell asleep at my desk. I started at around midnight, then woke up at 02:50 and worked through until 03:50.

...I need to stop listening to chill out mixes when mapping in the evening.

There is a competition every few years or so, but often the theme is more specific and tends to focus on entity work and such. This one has a focus on making a singleplayer map so I jumped at the chance to get involved. Other times the maps are either multiplayer focused or simply design tests that you can walk around in, which are nice but I rarely bother with them. :P

Could make that nice five-second room a little more observable but adding combat during on a slow moving door or requiring some additional path and a lever to unlock something. :/

It's actually not staying the way it is in that shot. The corridor is going to be blocked, but I wanted to show it off before I throw the blockade in there. The player will need to duck into the door on the left to bypass it. Then there will be a little puzzle to get the secure access door open.

Nice to see some mapping action!
Those WIP screenshots make me wish original HL was this detailed... But I wouldn't be able to play it on AMD 5x86 then :D

PS: without question, all HLDM entries are going into the updated HLDM 20y anniversary megapack (if there aren't any objections :) ).

I don't believe that there will be any. The competition states that the entries will need to be singleplayer. They could likely be adapted though, should the authors wish. Hell, mine loops around on itself enough that it could be quite easy to update after the compo.

Oh my god I love it!!! Especially the 6th picture, that really feels like something from Half Life! My only complaints are the ceilings in pictures 1-3, 1st one could get a pass but all pics need the top ceiling to have a different texture, like a ceiling texture and the 2nd pic could use some geometry like supports or ventilation.

I love the progress everyone is making here and I hope I can catch up since I just finished the layout and gameplay spacing of my map and now need to get into the nitty gritty detailing.
