It sucks indeed, I was really looking forward to meeting him.
I am now sitting at my father's friend's living room in Ardsley, NY. Big house, beautiful neighbourhood in a foresty area with lots of wildlife roaming the back yard. And it's just a half hour drive away from Manhattan. Full update after thursday.

@Scotch: Duh. I'm stupid these days.
@Cap'n: We were at a store earlier today and this very aggressive woman came in demanding we "buy her something to eat". Store owners were telling her to leave but my father still gave her a $1 bill. Had a bad day and that only pissed me off more.

I asked for zip ties in a hardware store in Miami and they didn't know what that was. When I explained what I was talking about, they said they call them Cable Locks or something like that.
Why aren't elevators in your list?
Also I agree with Urby - sandals are the worst thing to wear, ever. I have a pair and I only ever use them to walk into/out of the shower. Come to think of it, they DO last forever if used like this.

@Striker: Come to New York and feel it yourself
I don't know really. I've always lived in a city so it's not something I really thought about. They are taller here, but it's not VERY different.
What I can tell you is that everything you see in the movies is true. The seas of yellow taxis, the dirty metro, the police sirens constantly in the background. All of it is true.

Another huh? Who was before me?
@X-layer: I thought it was pretty new. It wasn't even in Acer's catalogue until a few weeks ago. In any case, it's pretty good, especially compared to the seven year old desktop I have at home.

I am leaving tomorrow for a two week holiday in the US, I won't be back until Thursday 4 OCT. Only then I'll even start the download. And tonight, I have to work!
So ATDestroy, no, you just need a week and a half. I'll be back in more than two.

@Striker: Interesting app. I especially like this part:
Ninite automatically says "No" to toolbars and other junk.
Which reminded me that I installed Yahoo Messenger and despite deselecting the "Yahoo browser toolbar" (or whatever) I found it on Firefox right after installation was done. Had to manually deactivate and uninstall it. I hate that shit.
As for thunderbird, yes it can manage as many email accounts as you want. Each one with their own inbox and folders and sorting rules, and it has an optional popup notification on new mail.

Dude, not hearing the mouse clicking? What Luke said, that's a lot more than 25%, I'd say more like 100%. It will damp down a bit in a day or two, but it will still be a huge difference.
Welcome to a whole new world of auditory experiences.

Yeah seeing how neatly installed your window is, your server setup doesn't surprise me in the least.
Shield it from sunlight at least, it will cause it to overheat and heavily damage the paint/plastics through UV radiation. Same with the cables, they'll be all crackly and yellow in a few weeks and it won't be long before they are cut by their own weight.
Sunlight and water kill about everything.
Now, with that aside, is it a WON or Steam HL server? I can do WON...

Sorry for your loss. It's very sad but like Archie said, surely he had a happy life in your company too. You have great memories of him, as he would have of you.

Yay I still have to write you to arrange the details! I keep forgetting. I have to as soon as I'm able to get back to Thunderbird on Windows where all my email is.

That was pretty interesting, but I have to admit I was expecting something a bit different. Getting the shapes of the brushwork is not that hard by itself, it's the making of the actual textures that I never get right. My textures always look like crap.
I liked the idea of combining some textures to save on texture memory, but doesn't it take the same memory to use one large texture as two textures half the size of the first? What it surely helps with is the max number of allowed textures.

Well. Turns out that my friend already hired dreamhost while I was looking away. With a referral code that wasn't Penguinboy's. Sorry, but thanks still for the suggestion.
I'll make sure to use it if I need a dreamhost service

You have lost my respect.

Belated happy birthday.

I'm at 0.0% 0kbps. I'll be unplugging my computer in few minutes.

But yeah I don't think that would happen.

VB6 is at least 15 years old and you may not even know it.
And no, by experience, WON HL connections are refused by Steam HL servers.
Shield it from sunlight at least, it will cause it to overheat and heavily damage the paint/plastics through UV radiation. Same with the cables, they'll be all crackly and yellow in a few weeks and it won't be long before they are cut by their own weight.

...does not compute.
Dumbass.
I hope you still want to go for a drink...

Works like a charm
Well, for not-too-new software.
@Capt: What dumb search page titles?
Bahahaha. Very good.
Is it your birthday?
I'll make sure to use it if I need a dreamhost service
I have also had dreams featuring Penguinboy and Skals.
