I really like 9.5, I'll be honest.

Some of the new features are really rather nice and it is definately faster, and lighter on system resources.

Bottom Line

Overall, DoD_Nuernberg is sickeningly well-made. I Don't have a fucking clue as to what else to say, because if you've watched this review, you'll have already seen what it looks like from the in-game footage. I just wish it was made for a game I actually give a shit about. This review is dedicated to 3760

Bottom Line

Overall, it's a really neat concept, which while sadly falling flat on its face in singleplayer is more than redeemed by the exceptionally fun multiplayer.

very nice indeed.

One thing though, should it not be "breathe" rather than "breath" at the beginning?

Just recently played this with some mates at a mini-LAN party. It's rather bloody good. Kept us entertained longer than any of the other maps we tried.

And killing people with Trapt's massive erection, which can be found behind a metal sheet is always good.

This should not get as low a rating as I'm going to give it... But what can I do? I couldn't even get past map 4, but don't get me wrong. For a full mod made for the christmas season which was released on time - it's wonderful. I just really wish i could play it.

  • Breathtakingly blocky. Are those supposed to be cliffs?!
  • Laughable lighting. Fullbright?
  • Terrible texturing. Repetative is never the way.
  • Gutting gameplay. Boring killbox.
  • Absent atmosphere. yawns
Well it's very much a first map, and i dislike the fact that someone gave it 4 stars. Keep mapping, but we need to see some MASSIVE improvement.

Architecture - 6
Texturing - 6
Atmosphere - 8
Lighting - 7
Gameplay - 8

Overall - 70%
A solid piece of mapping with only the occasional let-down.

Also, put a playerclip above the well, or raise the water level. You can fall down, but can't get back up.
Architecture is quite blocky in several places, and texturing is often bland and repetative.
The quality of the interior sections is very notably lower than the outside and this brings down the score of a map which could easily get in the high 80 percents.

Overall, The Citizen is an extremely well designed mod which, despite a few small nags, is immensely fun to play throughout, and as it ends somewhat abruptly, I look forward to being placed in this unnamed citizen's shoes again in The Citizen 2.

Video Review

Bottom Line

Overall - the map's strongest point is definitely the architecture. I get the feeling that Fergo's more used to making singleplayer maps, due to the nulled faces being accessible with the deathmatch Gauss gun, the loud sounds, which in singleplayer you'd only hear for a short time in passing. Dm_bulk is a very good map, but it could be improved.

About as good looking as the Goldsource engine can look in a map which still takes r_speeds into consideration. Top notch effort with only a few minor set-backs.You have no excuse. Download it. Play it. Bask in it.

i agree with srry, but i doubt this is actually a first map. I believe "first real map" or however it's phrased is the proper term for maps like these.

After all, aren't most actual FIRST maps the cube from the in the beginning tutorials, filled with stupidly numerous monsters? i know mine was =]

Anyways, regarading the map itself - you're showing some clear potential.

ok..

Well, i'm going to say it's better than the last one you uploaded, but only very marginally.

you STILL used the water instead of ladders. Please stop doing that. It looks completely daft.

The lighting is boring and point straight down. Change the pitch of your light_environment to -45 instead of straight down.

The texturing is really bad. It looks to me like you didn't press shift + a ONCE during the entire build time of this map.

Load the .rmf for this map in hammer, press shift + a, then see what happens.

well me and daubster played a couple of rounds.. Let me gather my thoughts..

Well, there were some really good aspects:

+ Pretty original, and pulled off very well.
+ Seemingly endless world
+ trees
+ foggy atmosphere. like it.
+ r_speeds are very good for what it is
+ snowmobiles - well i liked them :P

But some downfalls as well

- since it was just the 2 of us, finding each other was nigh-impossible half-the-time. Probably be much better on an 18 man server.
- a bit blocky.. but acceptable
- lacking something... oomft.. I dunno..
- a little difficult to see which direction you should head in, especially with invisible walls everywhere.

I personally like it. 4 stars

It's starting to look terribly like people just pass CS 1.6 these days, to not download a map as good as this :<

an extra rating might help.
