That's not how it works. 15% is used by the conscious part. The other 85% is very much in use maintaining everything else. And really, it's a lot more than 15% that's dedicated to consciousness. More like 2/3 of the brain.

Anyway, if you give more power to consciousness, you'd actually be able to retain less information in long term memory.

Japanese isn't going to "die out" any time soon. Their culture is literally thousands of years old, and they're way too prideful of their history to switch to another language.

The same goes for Arabic.

But we digress.
Let your kid keep hugging metrocops. There might be an extra ration reward in it for you.

Well that's both great and sad to hear. Good luck with your new job, it certainly sounds loaded with potential. And if your employer is helping you with loan expenses, that's just fantastic.
Sorry to hear about your grandfather, though. How old?

Sounds like you prefer specifically open-world RPGs over FPS.
Did you ever play Clear Sky?

With TWHL still being a predominantly Goldsrc community, I'd argue otherwise, but I'd love to see multiple themes to choose from.

No offense, but isn't one of the main reasons you recoded TWHL from scratch last time because the code was unbearable?
Anyway, best wishes with TWHL4.

Idling at 65-75 for a year instead of spending $30 on a Zalman sounds pretty stupid, dude. Hell, even install it on the new one after you're done.

Striker and Terror, are both of you running on stock coolers?
Buy a Zalman cooler if you are. They're cheap and incredibly effective. Whisper quiet, too.
I went from 50 idle and 70 under load to 30 idle and 45 under load.

It's not that you're damaging it right then and there, it's that you're reducing the lifespan of your hardware. Whether it shuts itself off automatically doesn't matter-- you're still putting an unnecessarily heavy, and potentially dangerous, load on your GPU for an extended period of time before the motherboard decides its time to shut off.
Commented 15 years ago2009-03-16 21:05:47 UTC in journal: #5678 Comment #56347
Why would you do this? There are tons of other benchmarks out there that don't potentially damage your hardware.
