Whats up TWHL, long time no Journal?
User posted image
I had in mind to write an journal for a longer period of time now. I was thinking of showing off some of the things i managed to get a hold off and some project i had started. But since Zeeba made an TWHL room video topic i thought id keep that for than.

Not much has been happening lately. Been spending some time learning programming above what they teach us on College and started some CS maps i had an idea for.
I had finished first year of my IT college last week. Passed all 6 exams i had for the second semester, last week, in the first exam period. So now I'm free for almost 4 months to do what the heck i want.
Kinda hard to map and enjoy my self to its fullest due to extreme heat. Yesterday i almost lit on fire in Belegrades Ada Ciganlia beach. +37 degrees in the shade. Crazy weather.
I don't have an AC at home, but i dont think i really need it, could use a fan though.

My current projects are:
1. Building an 80486 system with the following components:
Motherboard: UM486/UM486SX
CPU: 100MHz 80486 DX4
RAM: 16MB 30 pin simms 50ns (fastest memory of this type)
GPU: Tseng Labs ET4000AX 1MB
HDD/Floppy controller: Adaptec 1542CF
HDD: 3GB Fast-SCSI Quantum Fireball
Sound: Sound Blaster CT2230 (16 PRO) / SB 1350B clone (will replace)
Casing: An big ass steel casing that weights 20kg empty.

I am thinking of getting an SB PRO 2 and an Roland Sound Canvas 55. Found one but is quite expencive.

2. Fixing an LiteON power supply. 550W of quality power supply. Dont know whats wrong with it. Everything in side is in perfect order, no damage no nothing. But on high load it just shuts down instantly. One person suspects its the capacitors. But thats strange because they are as new.

3. Finalizing my NT4 workstation Dual Pentium 1 to run Half Life alpha with Voodoo Monster 3D. I want to enable sound trough Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold, even though its way from the future compared to the PC it self.
Also thinking of trying Final Fantasy 7 PC beta with 3DFX GLide support.
Also finalizing my Voodoo 5 rig. The only thing i need are PC casing and power supply. Power supply is giving me troubles because of auxiliary power output that got abandoned after P4. Am thinking of changing the MoBo for an MSI K7D Master.

4. Various deathrun and knife maps. I really like the retro feel of mapping, but i also like the buffed up detail. Kinda hard to decide which way to go, driving me nuts :)

Selling most of my stuff i dont need. Having multiple active hobbies, being an student and having an girlfriend is quite heavy on the wallet :D
And so on and so on.

Here are some pictures from this year:

Nina-chan! I am teaching her mapping as we speak. Hopefully she will retain as much interest into it as she has now :D

Well thats for now, more to come when projects finalize!

Just came back to the dorms. I have a fan blowing my face and I still feel like being in a sauna. AND IT'S NIGHT TIME.
What the heck is with all this sudden heat?!

While I'm not currently mapping anything (that will arrive one day), I am currently active with my SoundCloud.

You won't find any original music by me but instead playlists of some of my tastes in music. I update them often sometimes removing and adding tracks or making new playlists.

So once again (again?), I'll be lurking around here as per usual.

Why is it that every time I try hard to concentrate on studying, my imagination kicks in even harder? This is a burden.
And when I've got plenty of free time my imagination is sucked into a void.

Have you ever tried mapping your favourite space ship from any sci-fi series? I tried in Goldsource first - did the front section of the ship and I couldn't compile it - the map is too large - normal for GS. So I turned to Source. It compiles it and works great - surprisingly without any lag on my 10 years antique - but as soon as I close hammer, it starts crashin' every time I try to load the map again and continue...

P.S.: Whait, did I said I'm trying to build it in real size?

I am still alive, contrary to popular belief and I do still visit you guys almost every day. I've been struggling to do any mapping, work makes me too tired and I end up playing one of the many games I have on my to-play list.

I've rebooted my blog again, focusing on journalism and games, the net and all that kind of thing. I like it better this way, it was serving as a crappy personal blog before. I'm managing to keep it updated, every Friday.

[EDIT] Wow, it's been almost a year since my last journal.

It's been a loooong time.

First semester of 2nd year uni has come to an end after too much time leaving my computer on to render things for both 3ds Max and Maya, getting back in to acting through my Film & TV minor and thoroughly not enjoying a unit based around ARG's.

Still haven't opened Hammer in yonks and am still lurking here not logged in, as per usual. That is all.

I remember when I was 16 I used to take the train to college, it would be fully packed in the morning, I had these crappy pair of earphones; people could hear what I was listening to when sitting around me. I remember one day for some reason I was listening to Natural Born Killaz by Dr Dre & Ice Cube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9-M2tqIX38) some crazy song, and I got the dirties looks from people all around the train car, and I was just sitting there wondering why everyone was staring at me.
Oh god why...
I know one time I walked out of a train station with that song on, and some black dude just turned around and stared at me with an expression like 'is this guy for real' and I just smiled, I only clocked later that he could hear it.
Times be Cray.

I went to see Sean Lock yesterday with my dad and brothers. It was quite good, but the only picture I have available to me is this wonderfully high quality image. I linked it instead of making it visible on the off chance that anyone else on TWHL is going to that tour. As he said during the show, the whole impact of that costume is that you're not expecting it, so if everyone heard about it beforehand nobody would laugh.
Since there wasn't any supporting act, Sean Lock's actual act was about twice as long as Frankie Boyle's was, as both shows were about two hours.
Afterwards, my cheeks were pretty sore from laughing, which is about the only possible reason I could think of to not go if you get the chance.

Aside from the act, the theatre itself was pretty cool. It had an old fashioned look, and while that photo doesn't seem to show it, being there made it seem that it was actually taller than it was wide. We were on the second row of the top balcony, and it was steep enough that we had a pretty good view of the stage.

Watched all 13 episodes of Elfen Lied today. I have to say, despite what Soup Miner thought of it back in '09, I thought it was a pretty good series. Very, very graphic at times, and a lot of characters were, well, complete and total scumbags, but I very much enjoyed the issues of morality and humanity/"what is a person". (Which I always do)

Also, Soup, I know this is 5 years late, but a couple things;
"Also "they are born to kill humans" is a fucking lame explanation for superhumans that go on insane killing sprees."
IMO, that's simply an excuse used by the scientists to justify what they're doing. [Ironic, considering what's happening at the top.] Personally, I think the truth is simply what you suggested would be a better explanation; Psychological issues. If you're mistreated for your entire life for being a bit different, you gonna snap and kill someone. Everyone.
"Dead should mean dead"
Keep in mind you never actually see the outcome of that fight, though. She appears to gets the crap beaten shot out of her, but it's possible she won out or escaped in the end.

Anyway, pretty good anime, if one that had to be cut down a lot from the manga (so I've heard) to fit into the series. If you like anime or philosophical discussions, (or both) I'd recommend it, assuming you're 18 or older; There is quite a lot of nudity, graphic violence, language, and mature subject matter.
