Serioulsy it sounds way too advanced for your current position to make a whole city without it looking blocky!
Make a plan as well e.g.
Get a piece of paper and draw the layout first! Draw buildings and how they might look and once you have finished make blocks in the places where buildings will be! Now start in a corner and build each building with lots of detail and spend at least a few hours on each building not 5 mins!
Eventually you will have a working city or if you prefer you could make each building and then make the insides later!
You can just place an ambient generic in your map and choose the sounds you want but unless you create triggers, the sound will only play for one round if it's online!
Now seeing as it's your 'Sounds' you have to create a folder in the Half life 2 directory if you don't already have one and copy the sounds there!
You must then write the directory of the sound (location) and click ok.
When you play the map hopefully it should play although remember that if you want others to hear it, they too, must own the sounds in the exact same folder so instead of just placing them in the folder 'Sounds' make a folder within it called ambient and write a .txt saying that the players must place the sounds in this folder etc etc.
Oh damn Kasperg is entering so I will have no chance with his amount of nice looking maps that take him a days to do and he has a month so he will obviously creating some fucking UBER map!
I had a same problem and I just kept clicking it every so often until i eventually got on to it!
I even googled it and somehow managed to get it to connect!
and 'Hunter'
I can't make your chapter 2 because city maps are not my thing and i'm tired of making city maps ever since my brilliant looking one which turned into a disaster (pics in my journal)!!!
It just seems bland and boring if thats what your town is like :/
Very square ish and most of the map is props!
Does your hometown have the exact same beds, cabinets etc as half life 2 cause thats just odd.... My point is that every map I have seen is mainly props and it just sucks so make brushes of some objects and assign them to physics box!
Thats a problem because you should always run VIS and RAD to check for errors and if you notice an error then delete bits that you added after the last compile but seeing as you have not well
Your screwed unless you can delete each area and try compiling until you can suss it out!
Oh and seeing as my disc is refusing to work properly I decided to ask my friend if he could lend me the first disc for a day so that I could complete it and then use the other discs that I own because they are not scratched!
I know what your thinking but I have not played 9 in a long time and just today I cleaned it and tried again and although it has frozen a few times it seems to slightly work but now it won't load at a certain bit again!
The disc isn't even that bad condition for crying out loud argh damn crappy black sided discs!
After playing 'Final Fantasy 9 again at a friends house I happened to look it up and found out that it was coming out on the PC.
I noticed that they have made it for PC now with slightly improved graphics but i own it already on the PS1.
The problem is that the first disc is scratched and freezes everytime I get to a certain bit so to save me buying it again I wanted to download it for free off a website.
I searched and searched and could not find anything!
Thats where you guys come in... I need to download the PC version of 'Final Fantasy 9' and I was hoping that you guys knew a place that I can download it!
Currently I have searched on Google, Shareaza, Kazaa ++ and Bittorrent.
