That my friend is a RAM error.
I had it, only solution was to change RAMs, I suggest you borrow someone elses RAM before throwing them out tho (OR trying your RAMs in another computer and run HL2..)

Perhaps the warrenty is still active? In that case just change, that's what I did.

Edit:

Missed the post where you said that it only happened on your map.
I suggest you let someone else try the map and see if he/she get's the same problem.
But still, in either case it is RAM related.

You can't without adding custom content.
For example, you would have to copy the zombie model.

Not sure how to get it moving tho, but perhaps you can use it as any model, and then script it to move around. But Im not very familiar with the CSS entities.

I'm not familiar with the story of the game, so I can't answer that question.

If you want allies in CnC3 then simply select a team in the same place as you select Force and color.

I have no idea how to make allies in Tiberian Sun tho. (does anyone know?)

I believe this error is texture related.

Open up your map in hammer, click map -> "Check for map problems"

It should find a face which has a borked texture, this sometimes happens when you copy brush groups or vertex manipulate a brush.

Edit:
If you know that you have done any of these then you could also just look at the faces of the brushes and see if the textures look weird (you can tell)
If so, select the face with the texture tool and you will notice that it isn't aligned to either face or world, check one of them.

As Uncle Blixtkreig said, there are flickering properties which you can mess around with.

But why not use env_fire? It has all the properties needed.
And also, an even better way which I've never tried is igniting entities using outputs.

So for example you could make the top of the torch a func_brush and then set logic_auto to ignite it, but Im not sure if you can make that fire go on infinite.

A fire in HL2 emits light on it's own, no additional light sources are needed unless you want it to be extra bright.

Just put an env_fire (?) there and it will do all the work for you (of course you will need to set up some properties first)

Ahh.. you have yourself a leak.

Solution:

Try making a huge box around your map (and compile fast) and check the water again.
If you can see the water now, then you have a leak.

Remove the box and find the leak.

Alex: Im afraid that's not an option in this case.
I don't want to give away the concept so I won't post a problem map, so if this problem can't be solved here then I'll just do something else with it.

Muzzle: Running Normal VIS, as always.

How can the rotatings affect the player when he is over 128 units under them?

Um... it did solve the problem.. Thanks!

Well, it only fixed the problem if I raised them sky high.
16 units didn't do the same trick.

There has to be another solution.

I tried it 5 times and the last test I noticed that I did get killed before killing the second zombie.

Yet another random problem.

I have a small area, 2 zombies and a crowbar.
The player picks up the crowbar and smashes the zombies.

When the second zombie dies something very strange happens which I haven't setup intentionally.
If the player moves a single unit after killing the second zombie he exploads into gibs.

?Qu??

What's also worth mentioning is that there are two deadly func_rotatings right above the players head.
I don't think that they are the reason of death tho, as they only inflict 50 dmg.
And why would they only kill me directly after I kill the second zombie if I move?

Odd.

Is there a solution?

You might be using one of those weird textures which doesn't appear ingame.
At least there are some for HL2.

No, not anything that I can remember.

I'll try reinstalling it but first I have to backup all my stuff.

Edit:

I googled around and found a thread whit a german guy having the same problem.
He solved it, that's all I got from this sentence:

"Ah ich habs gel?st. Dreh die Anzuglautst?rke im Spiel runter. Wie weit musst du Testen. Dann gehts besser."

Anyone good at German?

SOLVED

Well, I didn't reinstall it but I removed all game files manually and left the gfcs, then I started up the game again and let steam copy the new files into HL and then it worked.

The problem is simple..
As soon as the player is equipped with item_suit HL crashes with the error "sv_startsound 293".
This error has been brought up in the forum before but never because of an item suit.
I just remembered that I was supposed to test the hazard course and see if I get the same error when equipped with the suit in that map.
I'll try it right now.

Indeed the game crashes when I pickup the suit in any map, even the original maps

Ideas anyone?

I don't like the idle animation as I'm learning to fight with weapons myself. ;)
The way he is holding it looks kind of stupid, and is quite a stupid way to hold a weapon if you want low reaction time.

Ah, don't close the thread yet.

The problem came up again, not because of heat this time.

We've totally removed every single peice of dust from the surface of both the graphics card and the CPU.
No luck.
The damn dots remains.

Any other suggestion people? :>

Figgured out what the problem is.
You're right muzzy, the problem was overheating.
Not becuase of dust tho, my computer only has 2 fans, so putting the chassi on was not one of my brightest ideas. :>
It is now off.

Im having this problem with both CSS and HL2.

First of all, when I enter the menu of HL2 I get this:

I have no idea what's going on.
But I think this used to be a common error when the game just had been released.

I've attempted to fix the problem by removing the clientregistery.blob, changing graphical options, and restarting the computer.
No luck
It was solved somehow, but I can't remember how, and I'm not sure what to google.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
It wasn't like this earlier today, nor yesterday.

Edit: Turns out the problem is bigger than I thought.
I have graphical problems with all HL1 related games also (run through steam).
I get small red lined patterns all over the screen.

I've never seen anything like it

I've set up a scene in my map where a scientist is talking to you while he is looping an animation using a scripted_sequence.

You walk up to the scientist who is looping an idle animation, when you trigger the trigger_once which is around him he changes animation into a gesture animation (which is also set to loop, but is then shut down by a multimanager) on the same time as a scripted_sentence launches.

Everything works fine except the speach.
He doesn't want to speak until about 5 seconds after the looped gesturing animation is completed.
How can I make him speak on the same time as the scripted_sequence is active?

It'd be nicer if you could have their individual body parts explode, but I won't be picky.
It would be awesome if the old gibs where replaced with body parts. :>
But then you would only allow specific gibs to show up once per body (like the head, it would look weird it 2 heads poped up)
