Depends on what formats you can save it as- it has to be a format readable by something with a source smd exporter. (ie. XSI mod tool)

Perhaps one of the people who actually map for CS can step in?

It has to be 44,100 Sample rate, 8 bit, Mono, and uncompressed (pcm).
Unless you're doing speech, which has to be 11,025 Sample rate to lipsynch with the NPCs.
Try Goldwave or Audacity.

I'm surprised I haven't commented on this yet. I do like the idea. I have no idea how others see my maps, or how they play them, and a video review would be great to get the visual feedback I need.

You should trigger it to instantaneously move from a path in the lighting room to the first path using a trigger_auto. Rounds in CS don't affect things like this, but a trigger_auto should be reprogrammed to fire every round instead of on map load.

A lot of the anime that's popular in the US and Canada isn't worth watching, really. Naruto is a perfect example- Try to find some ones that you can't get on TV in North America, and see if you can find english dubs somewhere.
Haven't seen bleach, so I'm not going to judge it yet. Too much.

Looks good. Might I make one suggestion at this point?
Turn the brushwork paint lines into decals- it looks a bit off, and will probably increase compile times a bit.
Other than that, looks great. Can't wait. (even though I have neither CS:S or L4D yet :P)

Uh... Have you checked ingame for the zombie models? Because I'm pretty sure you need custom code to have multiple submodels and skins with the zombie.

Hey, Soup and anyone else having trouble with the SDK- Just add it to your favorites- it'll stay at the top of the page at all times, making it easier to find.
I find the lack of a launch button on the tools tab is a bit inconvenient.
And it seems slow at times.
But... It does look nice, and I'm sure the Steam dev team are working around the clock to improve it now.
EDIT: And it doesn't list developer names, which may be a bad idea somewhere down the road.
I like the new steam a lot more than the old one. Really improves the interface and looks how a 2010 interface should look.
Yeah, it's nice, but I'm gonna miss my greyscale skin.

The one thing I have a lot of trouble with in source is displacements. I try to block out cliffs and stuff, and I get invalid solid structure errors up the wazoo.

You could use GCFscape, but you'd have to find some way to make the player have CS:S as well as Ep1 (Make a mod, maybe?) because it's illegal to redistribute the content to people who don't have the game.

They've (the BM team) stated that they will not sell it, but they have also said that Valve has expressed interest in getting an advance copy etc.
Maybe Valve can beta test once the content is finalized, and then the mod can be distributed from the site and steam simultaneously. And then the devs can work on DM.
everything has a price.
Except on the internet, which isn't a commercial venture.

The delay hit a lot of people hard, but every blockbuster game has been delayed at least once, and if missing the initial date means quality, so be it.
Maybe I didn't take it too hard because I would personally have to wait either way, but... It's no big deal, and any veteran BM forum member would agree.

Check to make sure the models can be used for whatever ent they're being used for. Some props can't be used in prop_physics, others prop_statics. If it has animations, then it should probably be prop_dynamic.
There's a tab for it in the model browser.

As for the skies, that's odd. Does the checkerboard happen in official maps too?

in Npc_crow info_node_hint problem Post #280397
Not off the top of my head- give me a few minutes.
Okay, make your first path_corner normally, and set the Target Path Cornet ('target' with smartedit off) of the NPC to the first path. Then set the next stop target of the first path_corner to what the second will be (if it's crow1_path1, then you want it to be crow1_path2) copy and paste, renaming the name/targetname and next path fields as you go as needed. For the final one, set it to target the first path, and it'll be a loop. That should be all you need.

crows and other birds are very hard to do using info_node_hints. I find the best solution is to use path_corners to plot their route, and make it long and complex enough to not seem so obviously scripted.

You could try a tiled linear gradient. They look fairly nice, and are usually not too big, because you only need 1 pixel on the side/top (depending on the direction) for it to work. Of course, the site looks good and neat in the last picture, and if that's the style you want, then keep at that.
