I'm with satchmo.

Do you by any chance have a D-Link router?
Mine used to do the same thing; sometimes it would stop allowing new connections, but connections that were already established continued to work just fine. I fixed it by upgrading the firmware, which fixed a bunch of other connection drops and slowdowns as well.

After northern Tierra De Conchas dissolved, there was anarchy in the region. The populace reverted to tribal cannibalism. The MLR, being macho, decided to take advantage of this and sent Van Damme to colonize and civilize the savages, and thus New Manlyland was founded. Some of the cannibal tribes resisted and has formed a ragtag nation which is known in the civilized world as bat country. It has been noted that no one can stop there for it is, indeed, bat country.

(And no, Van Damme is not a city. It's Van Damme. He is marked on the map.)

If I recall correctly lights are a bit weird, due to having different states. Try giving them different names and making sure the button doesn't trigger an STATE_OFF (by using a multi_manager in between, or if using Spirit simply setting the state to TOGGLE).

All your rights to speak out are cancelled by the rights of others to ignore you.
Why? One right doesn't cancel the other.
I was certainly not going to put up with the childish rants of people like Trapt or Ant when they were based on their subjective opinions, and as such had no reason whatsoever to force me to change my initial texture or lighting schemes. You can call it arrogance or chips or fries, but I've had a lot of university subjects and classes on colour theory, lighting, construction etc, enough to not deserve some of my choices to be defined as "random" out of ignorance or malice.
Well, I didn't see these alledged rants so I don't really have an opinion, although your perception of what looks and plays well doesn't get more "right" just because you're educated, since opinions always are subjective. Just because you can paint really well doesn't mean the paintings you like are better, that's just your personal opinion. You still make it sound like everyone has an opinion - but yours is just a little bit better because you just know a little bit more then everyone else.
You talk of players as a unified group of people, yet not everyone likes the same maps and mods. So even if 2000 people disliked my map and 500 people liked it, I'd still prefer to keep those 500 people and myself happy. Who wouldn't?
Get it your head, we are not in the game industry. The number of people we please does not translate to money. Hence, it becomes secondary.
No, you misunderstood. I agree. What I meant was ignore the people who doesn't like it and enjoy the positive feedback you get, just like you're saying.

I agree with both sides (I'm so damn diplomatic :D), it's your work - you choose what criticism to listen to and which to ignore and you have all the right to do that. I would also agree that people should go easier on free amateur projects and generally be nicer (but hey, it's the internet).

Although, you have to be able to express your opinion. You also have to be able to take criticism and ignore it without getting defensive, however - failing to do so does make you sound arrogant.
"Your opinion? Young man, I am the better mapper. You don't have the authority to have an opinion, and if you don't like my work you are jealous." Well no, they just don't like it. It's their opinion and yours is not better then theirs - but you don't have to care.

If players like it they will say so. If they don't, well, then they just didn't think it was that great - if you didn't do it to please them, who cares?

Another possibility is teleporting survivors to some place that gives them a clear advantage, and making sure there's no way to kill them (except going through again, hope that you survive and get teleported to the same place.) This would ensure a steady flow of victims :D

int x;
and then at the sleep thing I did :
Sleep(x);
The compiler gave me an error.
Sleep() requires the time to be an DWORD, so you have to convert it.

int x;
Sleep(static_cast<DWORD>(x));
should work. Note that Sleep() is a Windows-only function.
But what about the windows.h library ? That's a library which is compiled into the program, and it will work on another platform, like Linux wouldn't it ?
Well, No. windows.h contains call to Windows API functions, which wouldn't work on any other platform. An easy and platform independent way to (almost) replace the system() command in your program would be to use
cout << "Press ENTER to continue."; getchar();

Erm...hunting? Target shooting? Guns are used far more often for sporting purposes. Rifle shooting does happen to be an Olympic sport after all.
You're right, and those people have another reason to keep a gun. However, I can't see what all those people who's keeping a pistol in their suburb closet without hunting or target shooting etc would use their gun for except shooting people.

in Kid kills parents over Halo 3 Post #260268
Heck, cars kill far, far more people than guns. But people view cars as essential, and would not dream of taking them away. Yet guns seem less important, so some people are willing to get rid of a "nuisance" for a little extra peace of mind.
Without actually having an opinion on gun control, you can't really make a comparison between a car and a gun since the sole purpose of a gun is to shoot people.
Tbh, I think experience evolves life. What I'm trying to say is... that when somebody has a aggresive nature, that either can be stimulated or toned down. Certain experiences and methods happened in that somebody's life either stimulate or tone down that aggresive nature; this is different for every person, it's one of those things that make us unique and complicated beings. Anyways, I do think violent games can stimulate aggresion if that persons 'refencechart' (hopefully you know what I mean, can't get the English word for it) is completely messed up due taken experiences in life. Humans are emotional beings, and when you're not stable... you can very easyly be influenced. However, I wouldn't go as far as say 'games create violence' simply because that depends on the person - and luckyly most people have a decent enough sense of mind to know what's right from wrong.
+1!

in Problems with Flat-Life Post #258308
Hehe, nice to see someone taking a little interest in Flat-Life ^^
Also I swear you said you made the player model play the jump animation again on a walljump or doublejump. Oh well, a minor thing to tweak I guess.

If anything, ask Daubster what version of Spirit he's using for the base of 6D, its stable and I think its 1.5a4 or something crazy like that. 1.2 had some flaws remaining. Also ask him about the FMod thing being only triggered through the console and not map entities. A strange and pointless thing we found a while back. The MOD music is nice, but I would like to write my own tracks and use mp3s.
Actually, ever since version 1.0 RC1 (or so) Flat-Life is based on Spirit 1.5a4, and there is an entity that plays mp3s - ambient_fmodstream.

The jumping animation should play again when doublejumping, but I never succeeded in playing any animation on walljump. Mainly because the walljumping is handled in the part of the code shared between the server and the client, and you can't really do much other then changing velocity in there. Which by the way pretty much the reason why player animations in the Half-Life code is pretty hard to work with, but it's probably possible with some work though (as almost everything is) :P

Everything in your edits would be most appreciated and awesome if you would share with me :)

The "frags" integer input has a default value of "", which is a string.

[quote]
frags(integer) : "Player Speed" : 0

Changing it to an integer should fix the problem. Strange, though, as my Hammer seems to completely ignore the problem. :P

For the console command, note that everything has to be put within quotation marks, ie:
hl2d_physics "1" "1" "99"
The death crash is also strange, I though I fixed that problem back in 1.0 :(. Does it always crash?

I probably should fix up 1.3 and release it properly :P
