why? He seems serious about his deathrow idea, and if he messed anything up, he would have his authority taken away, like anyone would. not saying you would chow.

I would trust chow even to be a moderater. He has stopped spamming so much, and that was really his only flaw in the past.

your first error is "Token too large on line five"

you need to go to tommy's site and see if that error shows up there. You can get to tommy's site by going into the links page on this site. oh wait, sorry, you can't get it from there. You need to go into the tutorial about forum posting by seventh monkey that we all have to read.

You can not do this with texture lighting, which is why I don't use it.

I just started programming C++ today, and know the if then do while stuff. I also know the for else, all that. I would consider getting a step ahead of your professor at the tutorial on www.cplusplus.com
it is in the documents section, and provides a great way to learn the basics of c++.

or you could make the tops look like two pirate ships, were ropes and such are connecting them, and bunkers on the top of each ship provide cover for defenders. Making it really confusing is a great way to provide a great action scene every time the map is played. The big masts could provide sniper posts, and ways for some to jump across, crawling across the ropes. I'm sure you get the picture now. also, an underwater passage is a good way to make people fight in the water.

Thanks for that link to the tutorial hefsys. I now know the basics of c++ coding, but heres the thing, is there a way I can learn more. Is there a way I can get into really advanced stuff with c++ now that I know the basics? for free mind you, I don't want to pay a million dollars to take a course on how to do it.

acctually, we bolderize here, but some parents are just very irresponsible, which makes stuff happen. I am not proud that bad things happen here, but I have to say, worse happens in areas like the middle east. Remember when that German guy at someone that wanted to be eaten? He put an add out, and got like 20 people who wanted to be eaten. Now that crap is just wierd.

I remember when Those kids did that school shooting, and then turned the guns on themselves. I forget what state it happened in, but it was a trajedy. They shot and killed 5 students, and 1 teacher, then themselves. There were two of them, who hid the guns in a bush on the playground, then the next day retrieved them.

This did not happen because of videogames, books, ect, but because of social problems. These children were nerds of the school. They went insane, because no sane person would do such an act, except if they were brainwashed suicide bombers, like whats happening all over the middle east. I beilieve that these children did go insane. They were not in their right mind when they commited such an act. They were people at the end of their ropes, ones that should be given phyciatric help, but it was too late for them. the cruelities of American children got to them. I'm glad not to be what most stereotype as the typical American child, one of cruel thought, brats (my name means nothing), trying to cause pain and emotional distress to others.

I hipe Jax comes back, cause this mario mod was a good Idea, and would be a lot of fun.

Do those things work as a cover, cause thats how they did it in a TFC map called homerball, which was a copy of the famous murderball. They had the person who was "it" run around in a homer simpson suit.

although, I bet those aren't covers, but models, because they look very well done.

its quite stupid his parents let him get so addicted to a game rated above his age.
ministeve, I'm on your side, but it is not age that matters. it is how mature you are. Half-Life is rated 17+, where you are 14. I think you are smart and mature enough to handle it, as most people, but there are some stupid people out there that have to ruin it for all of us. stupididy is the key to all of our problems.

woah. freaky. maybe a glitch, because the programming of half-life and Counter-strike are very similar. maybe something left behind out of half-life triggered that to happen. why it won't happen again, I have no idea.

in Water! Ocean! Only Water! Post #46668
okay, make a large area of water, but not too large, under the boats. Make invisible walls so that the player can't go too far out and see that you have a sky instead of more water. Use a custom sky texture and place it around your map.

make the water reeealy deep, but put another invisable wall so that they can't get down there, but make it possable to swim under the ships.

go to the bottom of the water, and so you don't have any leaks, make a brush closing off the bottom of your map with the black texture. this way when They go into the water, they can see it is dark down there, as it is in real life.

make sure your sky's extend down to reach the black brush, so that there is no way you could have a leak.

P.S. Do not use a skybox whatsoever.

you can make pretty much anything on a computer with programming. all your programs, microsoft word, half-life, even notepad, just to name a few, where made by programming.

The reason I want to learn Programming C++ is because thats the languange Half-Life uses and I can therefore change the code, makeing Half-Life do whatever I want. I could make a game where you couldn't walk backwards for example.

Have a good reputation is what I think he means.

Get really good at mapping first. You need to make a few really well done screen shots to get attention, and you probably would want to have been a mapper longer. See what Jahzel did with his horror idea. he made some really amazing screen shots and got all kinds of attention.

I say you fiddle around with mapping some more before you start a full MOD. read all the tutorials here, and look at the example maps. You can learn by setting a goal, like, make a rope that swings, and you can climb on it. then, you try to complete that goal, til you either find out that it can't be done, or It doesn't work with good results. Slowly you will learn Hammer's limitations, and eventually, your goals will be reachable, and after you experiment a little more, then it is time to start your masterpiece.

but you can name a ladder, so couldn't you trigger it on and off?

you would only need a-few of them to trigger, and because you can't see a func_Ladder, you couldn't see it change. I'm going to try this. a moving robe that swings across a ravine, and you have to climb with it.

about the counters:
I think you need to get rid of the journal entry one, and the maps one. someone may try and post the most maps, raising their little number their, which causes all those problems in the map vault. and no one cares about how many times they post in their journal.

The only thing I have to say is, I hope this gets done in less than how long its already been going, although we are going to have to shoot for time here, and go fast.

or when Homer gets home and he fights his double, and says

or when Homer gets a pulletser prise and puts it on santa's little helper.

or when Homer eats the ice cream with seringes all over it.

or when Mr. Burns gets arrested for selling nuclear waste to terrorists.

or when ......

lol, I've seen them all.

In that same episode, Homer trys to escape from the island on a raft made from plastic utensils, and toothpicks. They try to stop him, saying "Release the attack orb!", and an attack orb goes out following him. Homer throws a fork at it, and it pops. One evil dude says to the other "What made you think that a giant balloon would stop him?"

oh, and number 5 made the bottomless penut bag.

I could go on all day about one episode. Funniest T.V show.
