Could try using any texture number besides -0texturename.

I thought randomly tiling textures only worked in software mode too, but I'm not sure.

It's true, and over here The Patriot Act--justified by 911--is eroding our rights on a daily basis.

The coordinates are the little numbers on the lower right of your Hammer screen. However, only 2 sets of coordinates show up at any given time, dependent on what which view window your mouse pointer is pointing in--xy, xz, yz.

(-2278.00, 1324.96, 90.67) Where:

x = -2278.00
y = 1324.96
z = 90.67

Firstly in the xy window, find the first 2 sets of coordinates, like looking straight down on a flat plane. Then use one of the other 2 windows, which include your third coordinate, to find how high/low your problem maker is on the z plane.

Hope helps. :)

Sure. Take that hole you made carving, and duplicate it using wedges and cubes. You can build it right over the existing carved version to make it exaclty the same.

The big advantage of not carving is that your construction will be much more efficient--less brushes used.

As your attorney, I would recommend reading the beginner tutorials again, and work your way up! ;)

One fix method, as explainded by Pepper or Rabid, was to take that nasty invalid, and make the same shape out of two seperate brushes; basically out of spikes/wedges, instead of 1 cube-shaped.

I still have this same problem with this when trying to make cockpit canopys, or similar shaped items, that taper and curve in. :(

it takes a little while (0.5 - 1.0 sec) before the door opens.
That's odd. It should open immediately when you hit the use key. Maybe the door speed is just set really low...try increasing it. :)

Elon: Have you tested your negative delay theory? That will be cool if it works. ;)

Using 0 causes bugs sometimes, especially when using multimanager.
A Func_rot_button has a not solid flag!
Just what does that have to do with what we're talking about? :zonked:

in Difficult door problem Post #116254
Yeah. Last post was for Elon's benefit.

Seems even if you set the delay to something like .0001, there is some build-in delay.

try puttin a func door right in front of your existing door/glass func doors. Set properties to:

texture: blue(what you use for invisible)
rendermode: texture
fx amount: 255
target: your 2 doors, give them the same name.
delay: 0.001

flags to check:

passable, use only

This way you can still use use to trigger both doors simultaneously.

in Difficult door problem Post #116251
The Use only flag is simply that.

'Door won't open unless you hit the E key, or whatever you have set in controls for Use.

in Difficult door problem Post #116246
Good Idea Elon! Just make the door 'use only', and have it trigger the glass. Set the delay to trigger to .001, and hopefully the door/glass will open simultaneously.

Afaik, that field is only for HL weapons and stuff. You could change the Gib model to your custom gun, but it would disappear quickly.

Not directly, but you might try one of the methods listed from kol's last link.

Ohs. Sorry for not reading your post more closely. :(

Func_ladder is not togglable afaik, but as most things in HL, I'm sure there is a way around it. If you upload your current progress to the problem vault, I'd be happy to make further suggestions.

I know it sounds stupid, but make sure the 'toggled' flag is set. I can't think what else could be the problem.

Also maybe:

Make sure the button is not named.

Make sure the button is targeting the right door.

Make sure under the value for Health if shootable is set to 0. Otherwise, the button won't work unless you give it the shooty.

Looks pretty damn cool Elon, imho!! Better than the same old boring textured crap all the time.

However I must pay a measure of credence to what ZL is saying. If you're into ultra-detailed props and prefabs--as I am--you should get into modelling.
