This is probably cause your VMT has a mistake in it...

Make sure you VMT has this inside it:

"LightmappedGeneric"
{ "$basetexture" "ZeG/combine_zeg" }

Copy this exactly...And these files have to be in the materials section if you didn't know. Sometimes a simple spelling mistake can be fixed.

Also you have to use the same folder you dragged the TGA from so you can't say make the .vtf from a folder like ZeGrocks and then copy all the files in a different named folder.

Yeah this forum is for showing off maps or mods..But no worries ;)

Random tileling? I think it is spelt 'tiling' right? I am hopeless with spelling sometimes.

Anyway yeah elaborate as Zombie said cause yes textures can have a tile like effect if they are set to a small scale like 0.10...

Try resizing the texture if thats your problem.

Simple....Make a folder for now called ZeG and put the TGA in there. Then copy this folder in two places:

Depending on the game e.g. hl2, hl2dm, CS:S...I'll do HL2 for now.

Paste it here: C:Program FilesValveSteamSteamAppshabboihalf-life 2hl2materials

And here: C:Program FilesValveSteamSteamAppshabboisourcesdk_contenthl2materialsrc

Then drag the .tga in the SOURSESDKFOLDER not the HL2 one onto VTEX with Steam on and it will output it in the hl2 folder. Then simply copy it out and do the rest...Aka fill the .txt file with:

"LightmappedGeneric"
{ "$basetexture" "yourfoldername/yourtexname" }

And simply rename to texturename.vmt and then copy the two files into both folders...

Texturename.VTF and Texturename.VMT

I would make a video if I knew how...

VTF2TGA...Never heard of it but my guess is like VTEX you just turn Steam on and drag the file you want converted.

So drag the ftf you want converted to TGA...Although you may need to do more cause when converting TGA to VTF you need to specify where it will be copied too. Try what I said above first and then if it don't work try Valve's Wikipedia.

I can help you there...I haven't updated my VMEX cause the new versions have things that stop you from doing other things...

So download an older version that doesn't have that silly menu...I just do this:

Have a folder with the VMEX stuff in it and then have the .bsp of the map you want to decompile in the same folder. Then at the top where it has C:VMEXprogram blah blah add at the end:

C:yourdirectorywhereVMEXisvmex dm_steamlab.bsp or whatever your map is...

The VMF file should be at the bottom with the same name as the map but with a p or a d at the end indicating it was decompiled.

First you can spawn an NPC with the entity: Npc_maker

http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Npc_maker

To animate you need to use scripted_sequence for moving actions:

in Ambient generic continuously repeating. Post #169100
Salty first this is HL2...
Second Hunter is correct...

To do what you desire you place an ambient anywhere, go to properties and untick in the 'flags' section 'Does not loop'. Although I doubt you want a sound like owned owned to play over and over...I am assuming you want an ambient sound right? If you click on a sound in hammer is will play and most looped sounds will have the word looped on it e.g.

sea-waves-loop.mp3

You use the Source SDK that comes free with Steam if you have HL2 / CS:S installed.

You will see it here:

If you don't know what Steam is well...It is a 'Free' program that organises all HL1/2 related games into one list.

in Firefox vs Opera vs IE va whatever else Post #168714
IE works great for me..Firefox is nice but it just loads longer on my PC and Opera meh...I am 1. lazy and 2. happy with using IE...

Unlike some people, if you have good protection then combined with IE makes your PC nice and safe...

Firefox has some interesting add-ons and to tell you the truth I started off with IE like most of you so I am used to it...It has all my favourites anyway...My point is once you use something for a long time it is often difficult to change unless it is necessary so I see no reason to change when it runs fast, easy to use and has all my favourites...I have 300 favourites saved so if you can honestly be bothered to change then heh you need a life.

Finally whats the point of this thread...These threads are made daily and the end result is people argue whats better...Who cares!? I use IE and thats my choice...Seventh uses Opera and thats his choice! JAX uses IE and he can bloody well use it!!!

So stop saying oh I pwn you because I use Firefox or Opera...cause for Gods sake no-one gives a shit...
