how do i use ambient generics to play wav sounds? i placed a bunch in half-life/valve/sounds but the game refuses to play them. i dont know if they are not being recognised, but its extremely irritating
Oh yeah, Wanted is the biggest piece of s*** ever! The bots are a great idea, but they move really weirdly, 'cos their animation sucks, and they're a real distraction, especially since their health is so high.
i suppose you set the ambient_generic's name in the tank's target field? oh, wait.. thats not the qn.. silly me... check the ''not toggled'' and ''start silent'' flags in the flags part of the properties.
i made a truck with in it a func tank as a machine gun and a door that you can open. i gave the func tank a sound and when you start to shoot the sound start to but i wont stop when you stop shooting

Select all the button_targets using the entity report. (Select the first one in the list then scroll down and select the last one while holding down the shift key.) Then bring up the properties and change it to func_wall. That will change the whole selection at once.
Well, the thing is that I planned to do the tutorial with these points: -Create your own key (brush based, little weird but works). -Create your own key (model it and use generic_monster since I don?t know how to code a pickable object). -Set the door. -Set a series of messages that will inform you whenever the door is locked or when it has been opened. -Set sounds. -Set the key pick up method (using or walking over it). As you can guess, Andy, it?s a very simple thing but I found it attractive, specially for newbies like me. It involves lots of useful stuff (triggers, multi managers, multisources, sounds...) that can be of interest and used in other things (damn, my studies are posessing me, i tend to found it all in connection with other things!!!). Model Making is a little beyond the scope of the site, but I am willing to look at anything you might come up with. The idea of getting it to open a door is already covered in the tutorial Security Key's but that uses a key that already exists in HL. If you want to write a tutorial, all I need are the example RMF's and the text. (using a simple text editor like NotePad) No need to send the screenies, and please zip the lot together. As for a coding tutorial, If anyone is really good at it, and can decipher all the complex ideas and turn out some text that makes sense to the New Mapper, then feel free to put it down and send it to me.
