The HL Weapons Workshop - gige that a try. All I can say is it's a very old site, no regular updates, most of the files are broke, but I think you can get stuff like the Pulse Rifle replacement.

Errrm. Let me see, no, not that I'm aware of, but.. If you use spirit of half-life you can have shiny glazed surfaces that look like realistic chrome style effects, and also you can use this on the surface of water etc. But, apart from this, I don't know about actual reflections

Well it depends what you mean. I use photoshop, to cut I use the select tool (the image pretty much has to have all it's layers flattened) and just simply Ctrl + C, to paste Ctrl + V... Thats what I would do, but I aint really to sure about what it is you are asking

Luckily I'm atleast 55k which, to be honest, although it sounds badand everything, I really dont have a problem playing HLDM and stuff online. I dont even get much lag :P

Although the only downside about it is not being able to be arsed to wait for mod downloads to finish. I really wish I had Wasteland HL (the Wastes)....

I have just made myself a wooden tree fort in the middle of nowhere with characters etc. I also recommend that you should get the game of the year addition because that way you can get Tribunal and Bloodmoon addons.

And yes, I agree, Cliff racers are thee most annoying sons of bitches you'll ever encounter!

The centre of the origin brush is basically the crosshair-type thing (the handle) you get in brushes in WC/Hammer. That's why when you make a gun in hl, you have to set the distance of the barrel from the origin, and it's verticle and horizontal etc.

You did?
Great, well done mate!
What sort of gameplay did the test result in?
One of the things I was trying to work out was the probability of winning and stuff. What I mean by that is, If Team 1 (Red?) and Team 2 (Blue?) race and shoot their way through to the Neutral Zone and gather heat sinks, would they, or could they end up in a catch 22 scenario?

But then again this result is altered by the team with the most teammates or (and) the best skill.

I believe that this may work well indeed.
Thankyou for doing this test, Ive always wanted to see this actually being tested. "Valve, get your ass in gear and finish hl2!".

Remember, the origin brush's center must correspond exactly to the position of your path_corners. If not, you might find your train going diagonally towards them and not straight. I used {invisible texture to make invisible switches.

I doubt that they would have to face east, the angle by default for everything is 0, which is east, just like gun turrets.

So do you think it could be done?
Do you want to start it off when HL2 comes out?
I'd be more than happy to! :P

It's called 'gctalpha99' and it can be found here:

The guy is also the author of 'Cloistered'.
These maps are ridiculously large, and sometimes it is possible to actually get lost in them. The only thing about them which annoys me is the fact that some areas are confusing or rushed, and they seem to lack alot of weapon placement, but the reason I DO like them is because , I mean, have you ever been able to do maps THAT big?

What I tend to do is map for other mods, play a completely different game for a while, i.e. Morrowind! - And make levels for that, (cool), if you get bored of these proceedings then swith back to hl, you are bound to have some new mapping ideas after this break.

in Thirmocore Post #18180
I had this Idea ages ago, so I thought I may aswell share it with you to see what you think and if it would work and stuff.

Multiplayer: Minimum of 4 players, two in both teams.
AIM OF GAME:

Both teams must successfully collect 12 Heat sinks from the Neutral Zone and bring them back to activate their Thirmocore and win the round.
There are two classes in both teams; the Workers and the Scouts. Workers are unable to hold firearms and are responsible for the handling, capturing, and transporting of Heat sinks whilst Scouts are able to hold firearms and must defend and lead vulnerable Workers to-and-from their base. Scouts cannot move Heats sinks, but provide a defensive cover for Workers. Some scouts may be responsible for defending their team?s Thirmocore against rival team members who may need to re-capture the plugged Heat sinks. Heat sinks that are dropped by a dead Worker remain in that position until picked back up again by another Worker.
DETAILS

'The Scouts'

On entering the game, Scouts are prompted with the choice of firearms. Scouts have only 8 available weapon spaces, which in turn means that only a few exceptionally powerful firearms can be chosen, or a reasonably plentiful inventory of weaker firearms and accessories.

The Scouts choice of weapons are shown below:
The standard Combat Knife (2 weapon slots)
Semi-automatic pistol (3 weapon slots)
Sub-machine gun (4 weapon slots)
Light machine gun (5 weapon slots)
Heavy machine gun (6 weapon slots)
Grenade Launcher (6 weapon slots)
Rocket Launcher (7 weapon slots)
Armour (1 weapon slot)
Medkit (1 weapon slot)
Frag Grenade (1 weapon slot)

NOTE: POSSIBLE ADDITION OF MORE WEAPONS MAY FOLLOW
'The Workers'

On entering the game, Workers are prompted with the choice of team equipment. There are only 8 slots available for Workers. They are able to build the following:

Con-truck (8 slots)
Scout Truck (8 slots)
Ammo Dispenser (6 slots)
Healing Device (6 slots)
ADT (6 slots)
Mine (2 slots)

Vehicles such as the Con-truck and Scout Truck are produced in the garage area located in both team?s bases. Vehicles cannot pass through directly to the Thirmocore zone (this is to prevent players from ?force-entering? the rival teams Thirmocore Zone).
The action is centred on the Neutral Zone, a large area in between the two teams where the Batch of Heat sinks are initially located. Teams will rush to the location quickly and try to gather as many Heat sinks before the rivals do. Once the Heats sinks are taken from this area, it is probable that both teams have Heat sinks plugged into their Thirmocores, so coordinated attack forces will be sent to try and reclaim them back to their base and win the round.
What it all Means

Thirmocore: The heart of the base. The team must successfully capture 12 Heat sinks and plug them into it to activate it and win.
Heat sink: An unusual plug-in contraption, which is needed to activate the Thirmocore. They weigh the same as a television?
Plugged: When Heat sinks are plugged into the Thirmocore.
Neutral Zone: A central zone belonging to neither teams. Heat sinks are initially found here.
Con-Truck: Literally stands for ?Containment Truck?. A vehicle, which allows multiple transport of Heat sinks. It has a capacity of only 3 Heat sinks. A Worker can only operate it.
ADT: Stands for ?Automated Defence Turret?. A turret designed to fire automatically at the rival team members when in-sight.
So, what do you reckon?

;)
