I think you can fake multicolour decals.. Not sure though.

If you can fake "spray logo" multicolour decals, then you can probably do so for ordinary decals.

i'll have to look into that..

Idealy, the mod should feature all of the above ;)

In the right mix.

That way, everyone's happy.

Its hard, but its worth it in the end.

Try a a horror element induced by solving puzzles with your combat skills :P with a bit of randomness thrown in.

The higher the number the moreopaque.

And if you use dark textures, you can make it look less "full bright"

um.. you do know that hL comes with the F5 key that takes screenshots for you?

then all you do is put the bmps through a batch job in IrfanView, and you're done.

... Because they get rendered like sprites, they don't have any polygons as such. So, making sky textures scale up to speed up maps is a waste of time, and pointles. ;)

Or, you can make the func_water invisible by setting Rendermode: "Texture" ; and Renderamt. "0" making a simple trigger_push (in the direction of the warer flow, and then adding the func_conveyor.

That way, you have water that looks like it's moving, feels like its moving, and gives you that "Water" effect.

Hmmm.. I should add a few things:

SKIP has a function, you just mentioned it: Actually, its got no function apart from being used with HINT - so err.. Yea. :)
and can be toggled off (+a).
Toggles can have 10 frames too, (a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k) so, you can make a looping animation with 20 frames if you're smart with the entities.

Random tiling: Yep, kinda sucky, but depends on the texture.
Only textures that have the "-0texturename" texture get randomly tiled in the game. If you have "-2texturename" on a face, it won't be randomly tiled.

Water textures: Always full bright in the game :( But you can fake a few things.

The "fog" colour and density is defined with the texture colours: Index[4] colour must be a shade of red, the redder it is, the mode dense the fog.
The index[3] is the fog colour. I think that's right... you may need to experiment and look at existing water textures.

Scroll textures: if you need to change the direction of the scroll rotate the texture (from the texture app. tool, not from the little compass for the entity properties)

And "{texturename" textures: The textures with the blue, set the render properties to Solid, render amt. to 255 to make the blue parts invisible, in the actual texture, you must have the blue a PURE blue (0 0 255) and it has to be the last Index colour in a 256 colour pal. (basically, the last colour in the pal.)

1. Um.. you can try modifying the hgrunt models to include all the animations other moled stuff that the Black ops models have, and simply replace the model files..
BUT: this will REPLACE the Black ops people, you can't have them, and your modified hgrunts...

2. Just a simple reskin job - there's a quick and dirty tutorial on this site, by Vassy.

3. Again, replace existing wavs, or add your own with sentences.txt ;)

4. You could try painting go faster stripes on everything... "speed holes" work too.

I gave up when I couldn't even get the sound to work with the legs.
You need to fool the game into pre-caching the sounds, make some nameless ambient generics with the loader sounds anywhere in the map, and they will work. That's all you need to do. It worked for me. ;)

Don't use a monstermake to spawn the monster, make it "teleport" in with scripted_sequences ( monve to position = Instantaneous )

And for battles: Less is more. 2 grunts, 1 barney, player + 1 or 2 aliens + a load of scripting works better than 40 grunts on 40 barneys...

Then Look for "suspect" areas, places where you have angled walls, vertexes not on the grid etc. If a leek appeared after you've added a new area then its probably there.

They annoy, but thank your lucky hammers you don't get svc_bad errors :zonked: :nuts:
