Oh, I thought you meant the water brush...

But yeah, you would use Texture...but what are the env_renders for? Couldn't you just set the water's opacity instead of using env_renders? env_renders would be a waste of the compiler's entity space in this case unless you have light switches that turn the light on/off.

Just don't use Glow, because that's only for sprites. And I don't think you want Additive, either. It makes glowing water!

I think what he tries to say is "When i set water transparent no matter how dark the room is...it is always bright". We always encounter it, and the only fix I can think of now is making the texture darker, saving it to a new texture, and using the new darkened texture. That way, it would still be all bright (to the game engine), but to the eyes, it's dark because of the texture.

And plus, if you revise your own post before clicking your post button, you might not need "teh" edit.

I think I've seen both of them, but I'm sure what Slime does.

Slime will hurt you about 12 damage per .1 second or something with the toxic waste (I think?) icon near the damage indicator, which looks like a toxic barrel tumbled and the toxic waste is pouring out, so that would be pretty quick. It would probably kill you before you can take a dip and come back out (without godmode/noclip, obviously), so Younis is right about being dead fast.

I think Lava will hurt you about 49 damage per .75 second? Or whatever the default hurt speed is. A burn icon, obviously, will show up on your damage indicator, too. That would also be pretty quick as Younis says, but maybe it would give you JUST enough time to escape with 2 health left (if you had 100 before going in) or 1 (if you had 99 before going in, but how would you get 99? Run into a 1 dmg trigger_hurt?).

So in conclusion, they would kill you pretty quick, as Younis said, so if you want a piece of water (sounds wierd  ) to kill you slower or kill you a different way (something besides burn or slime), don't use Slime or Lava, use a trigger_hurt.

HL1...why? I can't play HL2 with a 32MB S3 video card (yes, I need a new video card, don't tell me because if I can figure that if I see people with Radeons and GeForces and Halo/Doom won't run, then I really need a new one)!

So I'll just rate HL1 really quick:

+Great plot
+Great setups of sequences
+Great challenges, but sometimes got annoying until I FINALLY figure it out (e.g. tripmine room which I kept shooting the first one because I automatically shoot any tripmine seen to remove the obstacle, but oops...stares at red stuff all over the walls and those chunks on the floor)
+Bosses, which are somewhat tough, but then I played on Easy...
-Xen was...not too exciting to play...I didn't see the fun factor of that besides getting to the mini/real bosses.
-There were a few bugs, like one HOM I noticed outside the room where you launch the rocket, and often, I got stuck on the lifts when they went down, but the HOM wasn't too big, and you probably couldn't notice it unless you were staring DIRECTLY at your monitor, and the lift problem could be fixed with a simple noclip on, rise a little up, noclip off.

Just to let you/others know, plane with no normal is when you have two vertices occupying the same place on the grid. Coplanar plane is when you have three vertices making one face (like in appearance, not technically because technically, there are two faces). Also, wouldn't a plane with no normal error always come along with a coplanar plane?

Argh! Q-tools. Want to know what that stands for?

Quake tools. Those are designed for Quake but is compatible with HL, and not only that, they're more error-prone. There's token too large, uhh...go read through Tommy14's error list to find all of them. You could also find ZHLT on the VERC (or for short, here).

Also a few more tips:

You might want to use a Batch Compiler.
Don't use the cached or pldecal wads.
I think you weren't supposed to compile a map on a different drive?
The _ doesn't have to do anything with problems. The _ is fine.
Those q-tools are 4 years old.
That's it.

in Lasers that auto-on after (x) seconds. Post #91012
For the trigger_relay way, one way you could do this would be to use two trigger_relays, one to turn it OFF instantly, and another to turn it ON after x (using "Delay before trigger"). Name them both the same thing, and then have the button trigger the name of one of the trigger_relays. It will trigger both since it has the same name, but it shouldn't be at the same time because the ON trigger_relay has a delay before it triggers.

I'd still use Internet Explorer, except:

-There is this ANNOYING bug with it where it keeps saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close...it gets REALLY ANNOYING after a while because it's like having to click the X and carefully click an unneccesary random button, and plus when I get guests, they don't care about the message, so they leave it there and I have to click "Don't Send" FOR them...not convienient. :x :x :x

-I don't like it when guests think it's their comp and go to random sites like www.goforavirus.com or something. FireFox is much safer.

Even worse (but kind of off-topic), installing Service Pack 2 sends my computer in an infinite loop of restart, boot-up, try to start, crash, repeat. I might want to have Service Pack 2 to fix those pesky things, but then I always have FireFox with SP1 working, so bleh. It's going fine.

(Or simply, the point is: Another good alternative is FireFox!)

(longest post ever made by me? )

VERC: StrikeTime (string) Strike again time (secs) (default: 1) - If the beam Life is not infinite, the value here determines how often it will strike.
That doesn't seem like toggling it on and off, it seems more like when it switches to another target. Either that, or it is a delay, but can the delay be triggered? I don't think it's triggered by a button.
I've created the lasers that toggle off and on but I need a timed switch I suppose. The lasers start ON and are triggered OFF by the player but I want the lasers to stay off for (x) amount of time then cut back on.
