Would you recommend me to start working with the SDK or better start off making calculators and other stuff???. By the way Master of Puppets, your avatar is SO disturbing!!!. I Liked the Metallica Cover most ;).
Vassy, many people are recommending me those idiot guides. Today I?m going to the... errr... how is it called... Library?...No, no, that public place where you can borrow books... Damn!!!!. Must be library ?cos
bookstores is where they sell them and... Doesn?t matter, the fact is that I?m going to see if I can borrow one of those idiot books with my face on it :P.

The thing is... I want to use C++ for Half Life as soon as possible, I mean, let?s do it right, but let?s not stop or step apart from the current objectives. I see that you know Java but, what about C Jobabob?.

Hehee... It was the same structure than the Nes one, but with those L and R buttons that were truly revolutionary at the time... Starwing was probably the best SNES game. I?d like to do something like that.

Yes Jobabob, I did loads of Basic back in the late 80s and early 90s. It?s true that C++ is thousands mora complicated than Basic, that needed no other thing than itself to run a program (I mean, still annoys me a little to include *.h to have access to some commands, though I see it natural and justificated in such a complex system).
What I?m trying to do now is to make some of the parts from the main function be functions apart. I don?t know if it?s good for a program (probably yes, it seems more structured this way) to make this, but I have to learn about it anyway. In my particular case, I added a function that checked out if the number you gave to the computer is bigger, smaller or equal to the number you have to guess and returns a value from 0 to 2 to the main function so it acts in consequence...
I don?t understand pretty well how it works, but worked without bugs first time!!!!.

This night I started working with C++. Although is something new and confusing for me (Basic veteran) I managed to do a simple, stupid mastermind game where you have to guess a number that the computer chooses randomly (stupid srand( time(NULL)) thing, I hate it!!!!)... What I plan to do is learn some programming stuff so I can make my own things for Half Life and write some simple things for people to work with HL coding too (if I can write it or if it?s possible to make a tut for newbies on that)... Later I will try to do some stupid games, like that Snake in the Nokia mobile phones.
Any good advice or good link???. I?m having a hard time since most tutorials out there talk about something unknown in an almost-unknown language!!!.
Wish me luck :).

Let?s see... You can either use a info_target to target the beam to a determined point or you can use the angle roll in the top right part of the entities windo for the Z axis and the "Angle" field for the y axis.

Maybe it?s just another monster_entity the is made downwards and has the same Scripted Sequences that the Scientist... And also walks on the ceiling, just like those red monsters.
And I don?t know about that... But I can come up with something REALLY stupid... A func_wall with a fuzzy animated texture set to semi-transparent and the camera inside. If it moves a func_tracktrain with the same settings... Stupid, ain?t it?.

I think the leader task must not be to tell the others what to do with their maps and resources in order to get a finished product. It must be something like a supervisor, someone who takes care about all the things that are being done, taking care about the difficult, the look of it all, the librety of creation sticking to a determinate context... It?s a hard task, involves lots of taste, patience and playing maps from other people. The leader (supervisor) should also stick the team (small or big) together, inform everyone about what beings done in each moment and to inform the individuals about the evolution of their inmediate "Map surrounding" (what?s happening before and after).
Some of these things can be performed by the members themselves but some others are better to be done by someone with experience, mapping taste and patience. Someone who is not, evidently, me.

Errr... Nothing was funnier than Enduro Racer and Out Run. Those were really fun racing games despite the lack of realism.
And The Atari thing was... Awesome!!!!. It looked crappy but we thought it looked real good with that Superman game, the Star Wars one... There were another consoles that also looked crappy (my uncle had one) but now I can?t remember their name.
By the way, did you know that a plug and play atari has been re-released?. It has games in its memory, seems to look cool (nostalgic sigh).

I agree with Jobabob in Golden Axe, it was great... But the Manic Miner?s Wally saga was... Annoying. Those colors on my amstrad computer are still in my nightmares, as well as the impossible figure that appeared on the title screen.
I liked those games in which you had to write the thing you?d want to do. They were very popular in Spain, there was even one that could speak (seriusly!!!!), it took 256 k on a floppy disk. Was great.
And my favourite games of all time... Don?t know, maybe Super Mario Bros, the Legend of Zelda, Ninja Gaiden (I loved NES). I played Livingstone Supongo and La Abadia del Crimen in my amstrad, but I guess these were only published here. As for international games on computers... I don?t know, maybe Doom (a legend) and much earlier I would say Total Recall, Supertripper, Raid over Europe, Pyjamarama... These kind of games.

We should post nothing here until the poll is set up. This way we could avoid going crazy with this :). We could open a new forum and then everyone could post just ONE message with a brief idea of what he wants or the idea he likes. Then the poll could be set among the most popular ones.

Is the brush too narrow???. Happens to me that trying to break very little or narrow things i get no gibs at all. There?s a minimum size for this, depending on the gib, I think.

The idea is cool though I liked mine?s better :P. The thing is, we CAN not have items and monsters (specially monsters) from different eras without coding new entities. Same happens with weapons....
A mod in which Gordon is being hunt down by grunt all over the earth epoques is a little annoying, but could be good. In these games in whic you travel back to prehistoric times you fight dinos and so on and then in the WW2 you shoot with these german guns its name I cannot remember and in the prohibition?s Chicago you use a Thompson Machine Gun... We don?t have those weapons and substituting a Glock for a old german gun or a Thompson for a Mp4 will be strange.
Let?s think.

You may also try a func_wall_toogle (errr, this is meant to be a continuation of the previous post but something gone wrong)... If the think does not break when the player shooting but it?s triggered, a multimanager triggering the funcwalltoogle and a sound may work.

Yes... Always is more polite to ask the author who will surely tell you how he did something and if you can copy it. If he doesn?t want to share his secrets with you, well, you can think of him that he wasn?t raised into some values and morals but you, who were raised in them, will not copy or use.

Please, tell me if you use gamma correction and still see it very dark. I?m working pretty hard on this and it would be horrible if at the end the lightning sucks as seems to suck for everyone less me.

I think we need a little order... Let?s say... Everybody wants to have his part in the mod and it?s sure EVERYONE who takes part will :). The thing is to set ourselves an objective, let?s say, a 20 map mod.
And then we talk about how is it going to be, set up a story for it, think and discuss if it needs new models or such and finally we map.
We?re talking about a plot but, how is our mod going to be?. Wasn?t the original idea of it to make a bunch of maps?. Well, let?s discuss if we want an action mod, an adventure mod, some sort of Half Life mod... You know.
