So I jumped back into mapping a couple of days ago. I've been compiling with normal mode now I move to expert mode. I can get the map compiled but when I have it Change the Directory I get this.
** Executing...
** Command: Copy File
** Parameters: "d:\documents and settings\eric\desktop\hammer_testbuild04\map sourcesnightstrike.bsp" "E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\noobnumbertwo\counter-strike\cstrike\maps\\nightstrike.bsp"

The command failed. Windows reported the error:
"The system cannot find the file specified."

The command failed. Windows reported the error:
"The system cannot find the file specified."

Now in bold it should say \map sources\nightstrike instead of no slash. can anyone help me figure this out?

There's nothing wrong with sounding clever :D
This thread started off on the wrong foot from the beginning.
It was destined for people to get pissed off.
People trying to defend their religious beliefs and so on.

I still love all of you though.

Perhaps we can actually start a thread for simple discussion, and not bent around on saying people are sad because of this and that. If your happy and you know it clap your hands. >.> hahah that reminds me of being a preacher

I remember that verse about atoms.

But I've talked to my dad about religion. He's a preacher and he agrees that religion is man made. That no man should have to tell another of God because God has already put himself in all of us and that its up to a man to believe or not.

I know for one that my life has gone downhill ever since I stopped praying to God.
Anyway, if you go by the "safe rather than sorry"-theory, what if "God" is Islamic and hates christians with passion? If so (Hell, ~13 000 000 00 people can't be entirely wrong?) you're still going to hell with eternal suffering and whatnot. So, you better convert.
Oh wait, unless he's jewish.
what? In the bible it says that "God gave his only begotten son so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but receive everlasting life"

The only thing that is required of you to enter the kingdom of heaven is to believe in God.

And thanks to nickelplate, for enlightening me, your talking about the same God.

I love science :D
Hooray for Physics Olympics... Indeed they should enlighten us about religion at school. But things are biased. But I feel that religions means nothing to you unless you've experienced it for yourself. Until then, you'll just think nothing of it and make your own opinions due to logic.

Religion is kind of like INsurance. Your don't know if something will happen, but you pay to reimburse for it afterwards.

Humans love the idea of Security. So i defintiely don't see it a bad thing.
And people.. still saying how its offending when people tell you you'll go to hell because you don't believe.

It's a lot more comforting to me to be better safe than sorry. I can still be as logical as the next person but I don't think because someone is religious makes them stupid.

Also, does anyone else find it at least a little bit strange on how complex the human body is? I mean.. millions and billions of electrical impulses. We can smell, taste, see, feel, and hear.

I just feel the parts of the world where man hasn't touched is too beautiful to just happen by chance and even the creation of the world.

This brings to mind..
what's the purpose of living?

Cryo, that post was just as childish as elof's first post.

Well I was thinking about it, we can always think of how something is done or how something happened. Or we wonder why thsi happened. We always get logical ideas of how these thigns happen.

But to be plain simple, nothing is never how you expect it when you experience it for yourself.

It happens all the time in science. Mythbusters for instance, they always do experiments where the outcome is totally different from what they initially expect.

You never get a full understanding of something until you perform experiments with it and take notes of the outcome and repeat it all over again.

you know, use the Scientific Method to prove your experiment.

I think it's wrong to make ones child believe in a certain religion. He or she should be able to make up their own mind in due time about what to believe in.
If i may make one last comment,

Who are we to know what is right for other people's children? Parents are only responsible for their own children and not for others.

So I think making remarks like that is wrong.

HLSW is a server tool so you can control a server from the outside without being in game.. I have dabbled with dedicated server, but I don't know if you can control the given map, if you have rented the server then get HLSW.
enter your server ip select the server and enter your rcon password in the given box. Then you can run any commands just like using the console in game.

So download HLSW and enter your rcon password.

You can do anything wiht this besides actually playing. Read player chat, kick players, ban players, and with your plug ins, you can do some admin commands remotley with this program.

ah, another one :D
I'm religous. It is indeed an individual characteristic on our beliefs.
But when people make sub-par opinions toward religion when they have never even experienced the religion or can even disprove the religion is quite sad. You think in logical terms, but can you disprove it and prove your sayings?
Until religions are disproven by science which is unlikely, religion will always be a part of human culture.

EDIT: after reading Tosse's comment

About religion used on children. That responsibility is not the childs but the parents. I'm Christian and that and I've read the bible and made my own interpretations too.

I don't think using religion towards children is wrong. Children don't know any better. There's nothign with a family trying to do what's right for the child. They are definitly not trying to hurt the child but it's their job to influence the child so that when they grow up, they can make a completely reasonable decision on their religion. Until, your 18 and you can leave the house, you'll have to follow the rules of your parents. If religion falls into, I'm pretty sure you can bite your tounge and show them respect not to talk back and when your out on your own you can start making those decisions

in Gaming Chapter Post #191389
Yes video games can affect a child's behavior, but never so much as to make this child a serial killer. Serial Killer's brains act different than ours and they react differently when we feel emotions of love and ect.

I enjoy video games very much. Probably too much, but the only bad side of a child playing a video game is if the parent doesn't control the child's time playing video games.

The child might get so involved in the game he'll forget about things around him. I've experienced this myself.

It's just like tv. It's the parent's responsibility on what the child comes in contact with. As far as sex in video games... TV is full of sex. The term that "sex sells". This is true. Sex does sell but it still doesn't make it a good thing.

On the main note, video games for children aren't a bad thing. I've seen younger kids do worse things than shoot a virtual being in the head for pointless fun.

No, just some people seem unable to accept that they will never understand some things.
I don't think that goes towards religious.
I feel that science is more geared towards that.
Science is the study of all things around us.
Religion is based on faith.

Everyone is special to someone, noone is 'just another human'.
Exactly, when you compare yourself to the whole world which i feel is useless, yes you are just a speck of dust. The people that matter to you are your family. No one can take their place. They will always be there for you no matter what you do.

srry,

Sorry i forgot to say that, I can't imagine a world without a God. But that's also from self experience that If people don't have something bigger to believe in and are immersed in worldy things that they don't find happiness in these things.

A god just makes all these things fit.
My god just happens to be God.

But i feel it works for all religions.

Well, i just read all of that. Very interesting. Your views are very pessimistic.
Yes humans are a failure, and I do take note that you are agnostic. With that in mind, think about Adam and Eve. According to the Bible, they began this never ending pitfall of what is the human society.

About religion, people can still use their logical thinking and still be able to believe in a supernatural being. Religion brings hope to many people and there is nothing that disproves it. If you see the people who act self righteous because they are one minded on their religion. Does that have anything to do with you and your beliefs? A life without a god is hopeless, filled with so much despair.

Here's what my dad told me.
"I would rather believe in God and live a good life and find out he doesn't exist, than to live a bad life and find out he does exist."

Seriously I can agree with you that the human race is falling.
But pessimistic views get nowhere. I mean people are trying to make the world better for themselves.

Forgive me if I minunderstood you. It's a little late.
