rimrook, that egg is awesome, for some reason I thought of a dragon egg as well, kinda like the egg thingy in soad's music video for spiders..lol anyways man, you have great texturing skills, you should do up a portfolio of your models an get into a game company!

haha yea, I was going to put a bump map.... but yeah, I did start to make actual rims, but the poly count was really high, and times this by 4, and its crazy..
so I just fixed it and it is bmw.html, not test.html

haha ya I was going to but some handles but then I decided to put shaved handles if thats what there called.. you just tap the door and it opens.. yeah

oh and Captain terror I just used the uv mapping in maya, takes a bit to get used to but its alright

thanks for all the comments, yeah, the windows will be well tinted :P

And yeah Splint I'm not going to worry about the edges until its fully textured, then I'll see how it looks, then tweek it more for the final render..

There got it all finished and UV Mapped.. Now the fun part; TEXTURING! (Seriously, texturing is the funnest part.)

Yeah, I agree, alot of the time it did'nt really make sense.. like how the hell did the main badguy get away so quick? The main character jumps into the water, to stop a 'antimatter'(??) bomb from going off, then the antagonist dissappears..

Use Spirit of HL mod then make a invisible brush as a func_train... then use the 'move with' function. (only available with 'Spirit of HL' mod)

oh but that will just cause the bird to fly straight... in that case;

use a 'func_target' to move with the train, place it in front of the model birds, and have the birds continuesly look at it...

Haven't modded HL in awhile, so yeah.. should be plausible

Whats your thoughts on the fastest; Radeon 5970.. its got 2GB Memory, with 2 gpu's.. For the price of like $700 I think its a rather good deal

I thought id have to create assets, but a whole exterior level!? Whats it for? Is it for HL2.. because I can do stuff like model the pipes/billboards etc, but I wont be able to do a whole level.. I got enough on my plate as it is, but things like the animated door and whatnot I could do... that being said, how exactly do you want the door to open?

it all depends on the request actually.. right now Im busy getting portfolio work together, and also we have our 3rd milestone due on monday, so depending on the item needed it may be quick, or not..so yeah, tell me your request, and poly limits, also let me know if quads are fine... if its for hl1 I'll have to triangulate it. but its not a solid answer yet, tell me what you need, if I have/find the time to do it, I'll let ya know..

and yeah jeffmod, I can texture, I can animate farely decently, but in the industry the theirs proffesional riggers who do that so you dont focus around animating to much :P

thanks for your comments guys, the modelling progy used is Maya2008, and Jeffmod, its not really clear what your asking.. but I can model pretty much anything.

heres a really quick painting I did yesterday of a Subaru.. lolz at least you can tell its a car! lol

Man I've been waiting forever for the new G10 cards to come out, and the Nvidia GTX 480 is only $700 (roughly)

This card and the 470 are the first to be realeased by Nvidia that can run with DirectX 11... which all of you should know, that this means

First of all, you want to make a layout that is unique, one that will capture the employer.. dont just copy it, the emploer will be like, "ah seen that shit before, click, close"

Habboi, the dropshadows got to be changed.. if an employer looked at that, he'd be like, "wow, photoshop filters are used everywhere, looks like a 2 minute job, I could even do it!"

you can use the drop shadow, Im just saying, make it face something else other that 30 degrees, and change the opacity and color at least.

Over all the layout is looking very good.. I like it.

Also your title

"Environment Modeller"

Seeing as everything is modelled you kinda narrowed it down too much, instead try to change it to "Level Designer" yeah like I said environment modeller sounds to broad..

Edit;
Another thing, try to refrain from posting levels of HL2 that you've made unless your applying at Valve only. The main thing employers look at is something you created, and something new, so just pulling textures off google and editing them don't count, instead depending on the art style used, go out and snap your own pictures to edit, or paint them in photoshop. :P

I find that when I don't have a good reference pic, then I'm screwed when it comes to painting... its like I don't use the right color palette whenever I paint a face without reference.. ah well.. heres some paintings I'm working on
the other one with a painting of a face I actually used Hugh Laurie as reference but looks nothing like him... ah well;
