Well, amazing, but it actually worked. It seems like ZIP size is limited only to 1MB (as soon as I reduced the size to 950KB everything worked fine).

It's only an example layout, all that's need for the cinema is a bar, the cinema itslef and an arcade. How you put them togheter is your choise.

rowleybob: If you'd like to map an open city area and not the inside of a building I'll just send you template with instructions.

7th: I just tried using "Normal Compression" and it returned the same error. What am I doing wrong??

Most spiders' bites are harmless to humans, unless you're alergic. In this case even the smallest of spiders is going to cause the flesh around the bite to start necroting until it just falls off and continues to spread. I think there's no cure for this other than constant tissue transplantations and inhaling pure oxigen in a pressurized chamber.

Now I remembered that I also fear huge machinery that's about to crush me. Two weeks ago I had an observation class at the concrete panel factory and that place was scary. In the first great hall there were two huge telphers (rail crains just under the ceiling) carying steel fixtures around at high speed and low altitude. They could travel over 90% of the hall's area so no place was safe.
The second hall contained 4 telphers but this time they were bigger and slower but more scary, since this was the place were they put the liquid concrete into forms ready for thermic procedures. One false step and you're in deep shit, erm, concrete.
And last, we visited the concrete mixing tower - at the top you can see how it's prepared - 1.5 meters below your feet hot water is mixed with te powdered cement and two huge blades mix them up into fine liquid concrete. No need to mention there were no safety railings.

I just found out I could use static sprites to make buildings in the background and not only. It saves alot of wpolys.

rowleybob: I managed to run the game using DOSbox but it's very slow. So I'm sticking with reference sketches, expect them by the end of the day (I'm having alot of things to do around this celebration today...)

PS: Say, why am I not allowed to update the .zip file with my map? Every time I try it says "Document contains no data!" and the "Make Changes" Buttons becomes disabled. What's wrong?

Yeah, will do. That was only a test. The only problem is that the sprite is 1.8MB. But, hey, it playes for 10 seconds! I can make a short looping scene of a fight or something.

Spiders are fine. Except some species which are very disgusting. I remeber once a couple of years ago I was in the basement of a mountain hostel and it was infested with some wired ones. They had large flat (about 0.5cm in diameter) almost circular bodies and extremely thin an long legs (something like 5cm). They sit still on the wall, floor and ceiling like if they were squished, but if you disturb them they get up high on their legs and run fast like some tenticle monsters... The place was swarming with them and the larger ones had small bright red spheres all over their bodies and sometimes even the legs!

I also fear sharp objects pointed at me. Just like IEMC I've got the wired feeling they're going to pop up any minute and hit me in the eye.

Sometimes when I start thinking about the meaning of life, boundaries of the universe and such things I get a wired feeling that makes me feel sick and discouraged like if I were struck by a sonic pulse.

Injuries make me feel freaked out. Don't get me wrong I have no problem watching 'ER' or Realty TV but when I see something like this live I feel sick like if I was injured. I can feel the skin ripped apart, the fervent blood flowing out of the wound, even the touch of the object that cased the injury. If I don't turn back soon I start getting sick and might even blackout. This isn't that bad, because I have the same 'skill' with food and drinks - I can experience about 30% of the pleasure that I'll have if I eat something without even touching it.

Yes! Yes! It worked! Look at my beautiful animated billboard !

Now when I know how to make the sprites work can get some work done on my map. Expect updates soon.

Now, what should I put onscreen in the cinema? Should I use the original idea and put a hot babe or do something original of my own?

MoP: It isn't a leak problem I'm having I just wanted to show the wired behavior I encountered (VIS and RAD running properly regardless of the leak)

rowleybob: This won't be a problem, I can't run the game anymore too, so I'm changing most of the things to what I like. I'll make you a reference sketch of the place soon.

Since 1997 to be precise (or atleast that's the first official announcement of the project, also mentioned in the 'Shadow Warrior' game) which means 8 or maybe even 9 years. But they've changed 3 engines since they started (Doom, Quake and now I think they work on their own engine) so don't expect it to be the perfect game. But I'm still looking forward for it.

And, yes, this job sure is sweet. But as they say, you have the be one of the best. Someone like Firebinder and Manoid or the like (Lost Time, Xen Pit; both from Issues).

As long as I remember it's unnecessary to use any special tools. Just make a sprite and then open it up in a HEX editor (Google). And the rest I don't reacall completely. Check the Collective .

Uhm, not exactly. There I'll put a large text saying 'Cinema' and beneath it a black screen with the name of the current movie.

I have this interesting idea which will allow me to add animated screens without using the .avi playing modification to HL. Remember that sprites can be modified so that they don't always face the player? Well, this way I can make large animated screens with faster animation than the normal animated textures.

I'll do a test and we'll se what comes out of this one...

Great, any help would be appreciated. I usually make all the textures myself, but I think I'll need some serious feedback on such a map. So I'll start with default textures and and then maybe I'll add some CS textures.

I hope you've played Duke Nukem 3D and you can recall the details in the maps.

C'mon, is no one interested? I started making 'Holywood Holocaust', just to see if I can keep the wpolys below 2000. It won't be an exact replica, since the setup in Duke3D isn't really poly-saving (you can see the entire level from the first street, that's insane)

Remaking them, yes, rebuild the maps from scratch, adding more detail, stuff like that. But I never said I'll do it alone by myself, this is a lot of work! I was talking about a joint effort or something...

Hey guys, aren't you sick of fighting among ruined cities, jungles, wilderness and all sorts of shit (not only HL-reletated)?? I don't now about you but I always wanted to play city missions in HL. HL2 had somethin like it but the city was all ruined and not what I really wanted.

The only games that fairly satisfied me were Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior (parts of it). What I'm proposing is let's remake parts of these two games and other city-based games and put them into a mappack. Since Duke3D has pretty much the same weapons as HL no change in the code will be needed. We'll just use SoHL to make the monsters and stuff.

What do you think of the idea??

Precisely. Now stop discussing religion and ask the forum moderators to include a 'Serious Conversation' forum. That'd be good.

Acording to some theories of the nature of Earth-life and human origins we are from the stars. I'd really REALLY like to meet the guys, who planted Earth with life.

Hitler, maybe not really, but it'll be interesting to know what's behind his moustache (not in the direct meaning, ofcourse). Friedrich Nitzshe (not sure how it's spelled) is to be more resourcefull meeting (father of the nazi idealism) and Karl Marx too. Maybe we can make a three way conference and see how each ideologist would react.

Yes, indeed. And it was more action-packed than Highway 17. Altough the levels appeared to be quite small with this high speed of traveling it was worth waiting for level transition every 3 or 4 minutes of gameplay. I was really hoping to have an aircraft part but it would be a bit more complicated. Probably shrunken brushes and cameras were going to be needed. It's a good idea to make such an expansion were you have to fly a helicopter or a space shuttle, since in space there aren't too much objects to render.

The first name in the credits - Viktor Antonov - is the name of the art director of the whole project. This guy is bulgarian and the cyrillic language used in the levels is also bulgarian so quit spoiling about which city is City 17 based on. I'm not saying it's mine but the mass produced blocks here are so similar in all cities so it doesn't really matter.

PS: I wasn't really clear when I said to look in the credits. Sorry, I must have been drunk or something... man, I gotta lay off the alcochol!
