Is it intended for game usage, or just rendering purposes? If it's for a game project, polycount/wire? If it's for a render - I would smooth it out abit more. Bevel the screen, smooth the edges slightly, etcetera. Other than that it looks like a good start.

The theme is XPMC Induztry by b0se.

There's also a blue-hued tint but its too bright for my tastes (and eyes after 6 hours of mapping)

There's a Winamp skin too, here:

I dont even bother keeping it clean anymore Alex, it just gets messy again when I have to reorganize a BM directory or compile some models :[

func_brush is used for toggleable brushes or brushes that need to be targeted in the Source engine.

func_wall is obsolete in Source because both func_brush and func_detail are present.

The MODS said that that isn't really a rule. I remember Ant or 7th talking about how its really just to prevent people from signing up to ask for a free copy of HL2.
This is a rule and if you discuss it on the forum you get a nice ban to the face. If you want to talk about illegal stuff go on IRC, I dont give a shit about anything there.

Look for textures stretched to .02 or something very small, or things over 10 or something.

Did you accidentally hit 'fit' on a small, 1 unit thick brush or something?

It's generally a good idea to snap to the grid. This prevents strange BSP cuts and if you lay out your brushes properly it avoids multiple portaling and leaf problems later on.

Probably a sequencing bug. I bet his sequence is set to 'No Interruptions' and I bet he takes damage from a grunt somewhere. When you get close he must close the sequence and as a result dies. This is exactly like what happens when you murder a scientist playing an important scripted sequence and you can unload 10 clips into him and he will fall over dead when the sequence is complete.

Dynamics such as physics can lag source in excess amounts, or with complicated setups. In deathmatch, due to the gravity gun in HL2DM, you need to make many physics props of varying size - Monitors, file cabinets, desks, or cars are all useful and can all be physics enabled.

Place your cubemaps where areas of light and dark are conflicting or transitional. You usually need them under strong light sources as well.

I think what that quotation means is not to use single omnidirectional lights to fill a room with light - Rather to plan the lighting as it would appear in relation to light props and natural sources. Source supports a lot of lights - You can use an entity to cast light for each source, probably, as well as extra lights to fill in areas and to fake bouncing and reflection (dm_steamlab uses this technique a lot.) I'd stick to light_spot entities for the time being, unless you have a specific need to utilize omnidirectional lights (Don't get me wrong, they are useful in some situations) but spotlights are much more controllable and flexible. I generally utilize spotlights and use omnidirectional light entities with lower brightness values to create a colored light wash to lighten up the area.

There are entities for each team's start points and their presence delineates a TeamDM map. (these entities are called info_player_combine and info_player_rebel if I recall correctly.) It will interpret these to mean that it is a team oriented deathmatch map. Regular DM maps just use info_player_start/info_player_deathmatch entities.

Also, a hint - If you're having trouble with measurements look at the /dev textures. They're all properly measured and will fit exactly on their appropriate surfaces at .25 scale if your object is scaled properly in the editor.

Pepper: I think the wheels should be 8-side cylinders, if that, instead of octagon shaped. That way you still utilize a similar number of sides but they actually appear round and will smooth out a bit better. Other than the tyres it looks good.

Anyway, did anyone read the news the other day on how the US won't be able to reach it's 2007 Nuclear De-Arming deadline? Why does no-one care about that and yet everyone is worried that some small country is enriching uranium? If they wanted, the Americans could launch a Nuclear Missile within an hour.
I think it's because we're a much larger country and have a more respected background than Iran. It's pretty clear that it's for a purpose other than power, anyway. We do have weapons, yes, although we've had them for a while and haven't randomly nuked anyone. If we really were going crazy with our weapons they would have been fired a while ago ;P

The original one was modelled off a 1990 Ford Cherokee, which is what the military/government tends to utilize. They still have a lot in civil service here, and they use them at Area 51.

prop_door_rotating has dynamic door handles which are added by the prop itself. I think they're hardcoded into the engine, I couldn't find the models it uses for hardware anywhere. They might be submodels on the dynamic door, I dunno.

They're black props because their origin is most likely imbedded within a world brush or in a dark location. You can either move them or set a new lighting origin with an info_lighting which the props call.
