hunters solution should work, ive had that problem a few times to since i played with pod-bot in cs alot. either go to the configuration menu from the main menu or do it ingame.

and the c-hair will always be in the center of the screen, its the accual place you are aiming that refuses to move

no, the old lights rad with all the noraml tex lights was renamed valve.rad and the new lights.rad only had one texture left in it, open those two files in notepad to see what i mean.

and don't bother putting new ones in lights.rad, or even renaming it. its best to use the tuts method(I didn't mention this earlyer) becasue you can individualize it to every map so only the textures you want to emit light do.

you only have the default lights.rad. it only has white as a tex light in it. you either have to add the texlights you need to it or just use the method that is in the new light tut.

I recomend the Tuts method.

do you mean that everything gets darker the further you get from the light or that you screen goes dark the further you get away, becasue its supposed to get darker the further you get away.

you won't really need it though. just type pointfile in the console and find and follow the line until it goes through the leak.

(just to summarize up the answers given)
all you need to fix the problem though is the point file(or leakmarker) and ZHLT, and have it set to openGL rendering mode in the configuration of HL.

well , do you know what im going to for my good deed this year, im going to re-write the ent guide to not only give what it does now, but a small tut to explain how to uses each ent and the basic problems taht can occur with it. either that or just do that in a tutorial format.

GeForce 6800 is better in my opinion, they are fairly equal in stats though. if prefer the GeForce becasue my friend got a X800 and the drivers that came with it were faulty

im disapointed at you, were a mapping site not a tech help forum, i we can't answer it ask the guys who made steam, they might be able to fix your problem.

and did you get the video card after you got HL2, or did HL2 never work in the first place?

do you really think the designers care what material they set it as, becasue your really not supposed to hit it with a crowbar. and it probably has some sort of hard scelotong/exosceloton of some sort, which could be explained as the reason for making it metal.

no its not bob, you only have to have path corners for the camera to follow, and something to point at, and that is the use of the func_train, to have a moving point to watch.

and to solve your problem chow, its probably becasue you didn't give it a speed to move at when triggered.

Im pretty sure that the gunships are jst sentient beings with a fan and gun grafted into them.

same with stiders, there just enslaved beings just like every other enemy you face, like the alien_slaves and _grunts from HL1. can't you just pictue them with out the weapons walking around there homeworld before the combine enslaved them. and they don't have metal grafted on, its just like a hard shell, like a turtle shell or a labsters exosceleton.

and dropships seem to be of the same race as the gunships, white silvery skin, flexible body. they just have legs and such that have jets grafted into them and its legs/arms are holding up a canister full of troops. which by the way you can put enough rpg rounds in the can to make the dropship drop it and flee.

Ha, we american live on our computers, and hence can type much better then we can write. :P . I have typed like this since age 5 when i was introduced to s computer. P0wnag3.

And allthough my typeing skills have improved, aka being able to type a report while looking at the TV that is to the left of my computer and away from the monitor, and haveing only a few typing mistakes while doing it, i still had perfect grammer at age 5. < that might just be becasue English is my native laguage though.

should have the ram as two 1gig sticks instead of four 512Mb sticks, from what ive heard that would be better.

and about the PCIe issue, get a mobo with slots for it, just for better upgradeability

When I was in latin class today(taking that class is one of the worst decisions i have made to date) i started thinking of multiplayer components. this is what i came up with.

modes:
DM- your standard DeathMatch free for all.

Team DM- DM with teams.

Zombification- teams are chossen at random to be ballances, you get no choice which team you start as. teams are zombies and humans. humans get guns and zombies get blunt objects and extra health and speed. zombie kills a human, human gets switched to the zombie team. and if humans kill a zombie with there anti-zombification guns the zombie gets switched to the human team. last team alive wins the round, then teams are rechoosen and a new game begins.

Gang Wars- in general, kinda Natural Selection esk, aka each team builds some kind of base and holds out in it, your team gets to respawn as long as you have a base. each team has to try to destroy the others base center. the better you do the more exp you gain and the better weapons you can access, but you can't lose exp.

GW assault- GW with one team in a base nad the other with a unkillable respawn somewhere else. assaulting team has to carry a mini-nuke or other large bomb into the defenders base and blow it up, if this isn't done after a cirtain time period the defenders win and teh teams switch places.

GW CTS- Capture the supplys. like CTF with a twist. each team has multiple supply stashes around there base to defend. each team has to steal each others supplys to get exp for every supply captured. and with more exp comes acces to better weapons, and to win the match you have to capture all your enemys supplies.

there should be a cs:s exe. not by that name though. but either way don't run your map through hammer.

open cs:s like you normaly would after you compiled your map. then press the ~ key. the console should appear, if it doen't then you have to go to options and turn it on through some sub-menu(forgot which one exactly). then close options and press ~.

in the menu that poped up type
map (yourmapname)

your map should load up.

if it doen't there was either 1:a problem with the compile, or 2:the map is being saved to a folder that is not the cs:s maps one. if its 1 then fix the error in your level. if its 2 then change it to be put in the correcft folder. if 3: other then ask a member that is more experienced with the source mapping then me

so, whos doing there mapping for this?

remember that when you map the areas I was scetchy on to give the player different ways to go, alla farcry. there should be many ways to approch a situation and major area.

and speaking of farcry, i just got it last saturday and beat it yesterday, and was very surprised with the similaritys to parts of the story i have in my head for PRK. does that theme seem like a generic starting block for alot of games or is it just me?

you could use a bunch of small trigger push ents triggered on and off by various multis that have random trigger pushes assighned to them to target.

ex.
you have 20 pushes set up, they have names push_(1-20)
you also have 10 multimanagers, each with between 2 and 5(randomly picked) pushes assigned to them. you could then have an entity loop(auto targets relay, relay targets multi, multi targets relay and the push multis after a different amount of time for each multi.

the more complicated you make the system the more random it seems, i think ill make an example map soon, but im to tired to do it right now.

practice is one of those strange words in english that doesn't really have a plural.

practices is its plural but is unneeded becasue of the definition of practice. in the way rabid used it, he would be correct.

the word practices is useually only used when reffering to things like...
"medical practices"

I don't know what the exact term for that is in english though.
