For now use the combine model as a swat, il model something later on when i have finishd the p90.

Give em some time, never go's fast, especialy for mods.

Yeah, i do that, really it is easier then weapon modeling, though i havent done it to much.

I'm workin on a terrorist concept and I need to know - what handgun will the terrorists use? I'll take an UZI and an AK-47 for a primary wpn... And a knife for a melee wpn... This doesn't mean that they'll use handguns and melees ingame, but it's just for the concept... :)
And one more thing - should we have a robber concept?

Why does a terrorsit always need to have a ak 47?
most if the times they have the cheaper submachine guns like the scorpion, the mac and the uzi, also the cheap m16, m4 and equal weapons are popular.

You don't need to concept the first rober map, I've done that one,, ;) the concepts will come today! :D

What weapons should they use?
I think, benelli M3 is a good choice for both T and SWAT.
Benelli M3 is cheap and often used by both terrorists and the police, and it is even a popular weapon of the citizens in USA, they use it for protection... (sick, I think.. :P )

I meant that we should have a robber NPC, just like the terrorist... It would be more interesting.. :)
I believe that urban-active terrorists would use:
Some kinda SMG. Uzi, mac, navy, rak, scorpion, etc.
Some kinda cheap shotgun. Benelli, mossberg (it's used by swat, but it's accessable at wpn stores), maybe some older things like weatherby.
The only rifle that I think the terrs would use is an AK, but they are used more by big terrorist organizations, which work worldwide, not by terrorists, that swat would encounter.
Handguns? I think that terrorists can access lots of various handguns.
As for robbers - they usually carry some kinda light SMG or handgun, so that they could easily escape from the scene of the crime.
Do you agree wit me? :)

Indeed, but dont think its safe out there, most criminal organizations have military weapons, they gain those weapons by attacking weapon transport convoys, that is how they get the p90 or similair weapons, offcourse in america you can buy them on every street corner so that shouldnt be a problem.

I was thinking, why use old weapons, why not the xm8, the p90 and similair weapons from the latest era.

Swat encounters close-quarter threats, right? So why the hell would a terrorist need a krieg in close-quarters?? The XM on the other hand could be used tho... Kriegs and other high power rifles are used by international terrorist organizations perhaps. swat only encounters small terrorist or robber groups, who take over a building or hold some ppl hostage in some abandoned warehouse... Terrorists just wouldn't such heavy wpns in such situations.. :)

When I think of a terrorist,, and look at the weapon, it is an AK! :o
But I don't like AK (played TS and started to hate AK 47 and barrett :P )

A glock 18, maby,, maby a glock 20! (I like, but not in TS,, BOOH)
Some Mac.. I dunno..

Well, look at the movie swordfish, there has the badguy a usp.

depends on region i guess, a terrorsit coming from a communist country will have weapons from the ak fammily, but one from germany probably european weapons, etc.

Well, any way, Echo 12 will "be all over the world" in the game..
You know, a bit like raindow six, but, rainbow six wasn't a S.W.A.T. "organisation"
So, one part of the game, you are in USA, an other part, you are in russia, then sweden ( might happen, this is a bit in the future, 2008.. :P )
aaand UK or something.. I don't know.
The idea from the begining was RainbowSix: Source, and that idea lives on.. ^^
But, lol, no rainbow six any more, though.

Why dont you write a design document first, after that we can set-up a workplan, otherwise nothing will get finishd, some fancy pictures wont make us a game.

There is probably a reason it is banned, il look into it, but keep in mind we want 2 weapons and a terrorist and swat model for the first version, lets work on that first and forget the rest, for now.

Done some research to the weapon and my conclusion:
Its utterly crap, if you want to defend yourself against a well trained police team then you do not want to pick this weapon, it has a terrible aim and recoil, its is a simple weapon and is mostly operated by people whom do not have the skill to operate anything other, the weapon is only suited for mass murder and is therefore banned in Amerika.

OK, I'll now take action! :P
This is what we need to do in a week (not every thing, but,, at least some things of it)

*Fix an Animator (Madcow)
*Fix a coder (Madcow)
*Upload the T-TAB concept (madcow)
*Start, and maby finnish the T-TAB map. (slasher_101)
*Fix BG map (slasher_101)
*Make a S.W.A.T. transport car model (Pepper)
*Fix new equipment slots and code new weapons (coder)
*Remove the save function from both the menu, and when you press quit while in a game (IF, we do not want to have the save func, CODER)
*T-TAB textures (Daubster)

INFO ABOUT THE SWAT VEHICLE:
Something in this style: S.W.A.T. vehicle
Needs to have a "set" on the side where a map can be placed and needs to be open able (also, enabled to be inside the back of the car,, where they sit)

Textures for T-TAB:
A T-TAB decal, like, their logo.. will be placed on the windows.
Needs to have a transparant BG, I think this can be done in the compile command.
We also need a big window security block texture.
You know, one of these things that comes down behind the windows in, for example, a store, so if some one breaks the glass, they still can't get it.

Background map
The bg camera will be placed in an ally where a swat vehicle is parked, the enviroment is dirty and foggy.
The walls is full with "scribble"

EDIT: Some one adviced me to post about SWAT mod at HL2 files so they can post it as news.. Should I do that?

Madcow, aint going to work. Your schedule is way to tight. LEts first create a map and replacement weapons, then we got something to show for the media, at that way you will attract new people, otherwise they wont come, also the next study year will start next week for me, dont know how much time il have left.

And lets drop the multiplayer version for later releases, lets get your singleplayer idea to work first, also if you ned help with coding move to the VERC Collective, there are some coders haging around there.

Il work on the swat vehicle after i have finishd the p90.

Pepper, a BG map is a background map, used in the menu..

If you make a bg map, you simply make a map, place a info_player_start, and then, you place a,,, well, I forgot the entity name but, a background_camera or something, and what the cam sees, will be showed in the menu.

You sure are smart pepper, ;)
Ok, we make a map and a few replace ments, then, we get media, then we post at PHL and HL2 files, and after that, we get to VERC and gets some more staff. ;)

How is that?

By the way, the database error is nothing,, they are having problems right now, (in the moddb news) but it will be fixed soon I bet.

I have no idea, the uvmapping can take up to 5 hours if i want a decent one, the texturing up to 12.

Modeling a hour to go. to make it 19 hours in total.

Before i can put a texture on the model i need t ospread out the skin on a ...skin.

You can compare it with ripping of all your skin and flattening it on a piece of paper.

Lol, I'm confused.. well, any way.
I was thinking if Daubster could make some SWAT vehicle textures, so we could start with brush based SWAT cars,, after all, those cars are pritty squarish.. And I think it would be more dynamic if it where made of brushes.. Well, and after the textures are made, you could start with the BG map,, and don't worry, it doesn't have to be ready aug 28, just,, started on.. So we get this rolling, ;)

I just figgured out a way to make a door,, breach able!
I made an example, but,, hammer crashed when I was about to save it..

And of course a button and stuff..
