Game developing is a lucrative career, but it's also very demanding.

I know some of my friends who work 120 hours or more a week. They have no life outside of work, but they make a lot of money.

Congratulations.

I wish I could be 26 again.

When I listened to it late at night, the sound quality seemed better. Perhaps it's just more "broken-in" after a few hours of listening.

I am buying another pair for my dad.

And good audio hardware is very important for gaming.

Sorry to hear that.

When my wife's old car repeatedly broke down, we sold it right away.

Sometimes it costs more to keep an old car than to just buy a new one.

There are so many good movies out there, it's impossible to watch them all.

How do people find time for bad movies?

Has everyone seen "Up"? Now, that's a good movie.

The movie is just a full-length advertisement for the toys.

I ain't going to pay money to watch a long commercial.

As far as I know, there isn't a law that prohibits physicians from working while sick.

It's up to the doctor.

Many private doctors do not have partners. So when they stay home sick, they have no income. You can't deny people's livelihood based on a rule, even if the rule is a good idea.

I nearly died in 2007.

I am lucky to be typing right now.

Isolation of a H1N1 virus is the easy part for vaccine production. But putting a system in place where that virus is grown and copied millions of times without contamination is the hard part.

It takes six months to mass produce a flu vaccine. This is the reason why scientists have to guess which flu strains will be circulating in the next season when they start making vaccines. If they wait until they know, the season would be over by the time the vaccines are made and distributed.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-22 16:28:14 UTC in journal: #5901 Comment #47593
Theoretically, if I do have the H1N1 flu now, I won't need to vaccine later.

But I won't really know for sure that I have the H1N1 strain, and getting the vaccine later won't be harmful anyway even if I did have the infection already.

I have to finish my work on the same day that I see patients.

I can't really do my job unless I am in the office with patients.

Remember, I am the same person who worked with a ruptured intestine and shock for a whole week before I was operated. The surgeon removed more than a foot of my intestine.

So yeah, I can deal with the flu.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-22 15:37:22 UTC in journal: #5901 Comment #47590
I have quarantined myself in the downstairs office.

I am fairly certain that I have the H1N1 flu, since the regular flu strains do not circulate around this time of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. In addition, we have many patients in the area who have been proven to have the swine flu.

Fortunately, most people recover within a week. I am counting on that.

The plus side of getting the flu is that I get to stay home and play games all day. I still feel pretty miserable though. My nose is so runny that it's dripping as I type.

Going to war doesn't always solve the problem. Fighting the Afghans was necessary, I believe, but the war with Iraq was unnecessary.

I am all for the military, but I hate to see lives sacrificed without a just cause.

Al-Quaeda is in Afghanistan, not Iraq. There's no military reason to fight Iraq, except that Saddam Hussein dissed Bush's Daddy. 911 has nothing to do with the Iraq War.

Unless you're using 64-bit OS, the memory upgrade wouldn't really make sense.

Orthodox Jews adhere to strict laws of Judaism. They follow Shabbath, keep kosher at all times, and celebrate many Jewish holidays. Prayers are extremely important.

I am sure there are more to being an Orthodox Jew than I know, since I am an atheist myself.

I am very introspective, but very emotional at the same time. My patients affect me deeply, and I am highly aware of my professional responsibility as a healer.

Ahh, I remember that stage in my life.

So much freedom, so exciting. The possibilities seemed endless.

More fun things to come in college. Those were the best years of my life.

Of course, falling in love and being a parent are vastly rewarding, but there's so much responsibility attached to each. The sense of wonder and adventure was gone already in my life.

Wow! That's good service.

It's refreshing when companies actually back up their warranty claims.

Did you have to send back the broken 8800 to prove that it's broken? How did it die?

My old 9800 Pro started having cooling fan problem, but I think it's out of warranty. It's been more than four years since I bought it.

I agree with the pressure. Ironically, I imposed a lot of pressure on myself when I was in school. My parents are pretty laid-back.

I guess I have a very competitive personality. I had to be number-one in school, even in medical school.

I cannot imagine myself working that hard ever again.

I'd rather be playing games.

I am afraid that if I teach him more, he'll be going straight to college by the time he's six years old.

What does that have to do with this video?

My wife did make me that headcrab for my birthday. I didn't buy it from anywhere. She did a really good job, no?
