Perhaps it's my Chinese heritage, but the concept of borrowing or lending money to family members is truly strange.

Did your parents ask for tuition when they taught you to walk? Did they charge you fees when they prepare meals for you to eat? How about diaper changing surpluses at 3 am? Or holiday pays? How about end of the year bonus when you didn't die from some infection?

My parents gave me money when I needed it for a down payment for a house. I buy them stuff (iPhone, TV, cars) when they need it. There's never any mention of any repayment.

These forums definitely have the potential to become dramatic. Case in point--I left Snarkpit years ago and never went back due to a fallout with some members.

I created my own site GamingParents.org, but it didn't go very far. It takes talent, patience, and a bit of luck to sustain a site. It does take a village, literally.

Wait some more years, and buy it yourself.

I am 45 now, and I can buy any damn computer I want.

I know this is ten years late, but I am sorry about your loss.

You may not remember me, but I sure remember you. You were one of my first mapping mentors, patiently going over my level designs and giving me constructive criticisms.

As one life ends, another begins. It was right around the time your mother died when my son was born. Now that he's almost 11 years old.

Anyways, I hope you can come back and visit us sometimes.

$7,499 is a marketing strategy. Many people filter their searches with a price restriction. $7,499 would make the list if the person select "lower than $7,500". Plus, it's a psychological trick. It sounds pretty stupid, but marketing research has proven that it works.

By the way, I sold it earlier this afternoon, and the person paid $7,500 in cash. No, I didn't give him a $1 bill for change.

It was an unusual experience counting seventy five $100 bills on the sidewalk.

I built all of my computers since 2002 (five of them). You can't get a better deal than a commercial builder because they get special deals for buying in bulk.

I taught my son how to build one.

Thanks, Archie. He's also playing Portal 2 and TF2. I am waiting for him to complete the single player campaign in Portal 2 before we attempt the coop puzzles together.

The Portal 2 puzzles I designed are still too challenging for him.

The forties are even more satisfying.

Sharing your favorite games with your children is arguably the best experience for a gaming parent.

Teaching your children Hammer is a wonderful bonding experience.

He is getting stronger every day.

It is difficult for me to take time off, because I'll have to cancel all the appointments my patients made with me. I manage to visit on weekends and go late in the evening after I get off work.

I am glad that someone is still playing this very old map.

I still play it myself sometimes, and soon my ten-year-old son will play it for the first time. It is older than he is.

I got the ticket!

I will be inside the convention center for the first time. I've been five times in the past, but never inside because I didn't have a pass.

Scott can't attend the convention, because there is an age restriction--no one under 17 is allowed. Perhaps it's because the convention will feature "M" rated games.

But you're right, Scott is turning ten this summer. Time flies!

Well, it's going to be personal, because it's going to be focused on a few individuals.

I will try hard not to make it into an all-encompassing epic.

The process will likely take five years.

Of all people, Americans should be able to relate to this.

Without our Declaration of Independence, United States would not even exist. We would still be part of Great Britain.

And there were a lot of people who were against breaking away from Britain back in the days. Fortunately for us Americans, we knew we could do better than what the Brits did for us.

We might have been similar to the English back then, but no one would confuse an American with a Brit 238 years later. We are different, we are free, and we are better off without English control.

I got up at 5 am and realized the disappointing outcome.

I am curious about the breakdown of the election demographics. I suspect the majority of the elderly voted "no" to retain the financial security of unity, and the majority of the young voters voted "yes" for greater autonomy.

But independent or not, Scotland is going to have greater control over its economic and defense policies in the future. That's a start.

Ten years from now, we can have another referendum.

It's entirely possible to press all the keys on the keyboard without looking, including the symbols, the function keys, and even the "End" or arrow keys.

I do that at work every day. I admit that the accuracy is somewhat lower once I leave the home row, but overall, not looking is a lot faster. Every now and then, I press [F1] instead of [F2], but the time saving in the long run is worth the sporadic mistakes.

A blank keyboard forces the typist to type by touch without looking down.

It builds good typing habit, and allows extremely fast typing.

Kasperg, I remember those days when you were making these creative and unconventional HL1 maps.

This "Falling Water" simulation was one of my favorites.

When I extracted the files, I can see the mod in the Steam library, and I can start the mod. But once in the mod, the background texture is missing and I cannot start a new game.

I tried not to swing, but when you are doing them fast, the swinging is almost inevitable. If I do them more slowly, I could eliminate the swing, but I wouldn't be able to do as many reps because it would take longer.

Around the fifth rep, you can see on the video that I tried to slow down to dampen the swing.
