wow!
(should preface this by saying i'm fairly new to l4d so if my comments seem noobish it's because they are!)

The attention to detail in this map is amazing. Every place felt believable and real due to correct proportions for all the brushwork, and high volume/good placement of small props, decals, and textures to make every area complete in every way. It is very rare to find this much work into a level. to put it mildly i'm blown away by this map.

++superbly built map
++superbly detailed map
+Great/interesting weapons placement: propane tanks by grills, shotty in gun case in the house, etc all like you would find in the real world, not just random guns and ammo laying on the street. very apt and very well done!
+plenty of resources (ammo and fire)

+/- agree it's a little to easy cuz it so wide open (i made gold standard first run and i not that good) but i still thouroughly enjoyed it.
+/-it took me a long while to figure out the officer's radio is the way to start the mission, but still, it's again a well done/apt way to start the game like everything else in this map! =)
+/- the blowing papers were neat if not a bit overdone (never seen them before in a l4d map)
+/- flares were neat but could have been better implemented imo

Superbly done, superbly realistic, a joy to play
5 stars

edit: is there a way to make this map a singleplayer addon? i've found if i try to play it at home (wherst i have no internets) i am unable to create a server/lobby and therefore unable to play the game. i can load it from the console, but fsr the horde never comes after activating the radio.

pretty plain, but pretty fun, and with the sandbags you can just dance around and avoid the tanks, which is nice. =) playing with the ai as partners is excruciating as per usual... agree with huntey would have liked to seen more molotovs and pipe bombs, but whatevs.

no since it doesn't come out for another 2 months or whatev. i'll consider my life complete after i get to play this game even if it's just the beta..

Yeah. I should also mention i'm pretty new to l4d, so if my opinions/observations sound noobish it's because they are! = )

Very impressive that most of the ship is built and not a model. Very prettily constructed and detailed though i saw lots of crates and no lifeboats i will mention that....
= )

also btw are there any seekrits rooms full of goodies?

Again neat map. can't wait to try and start making my own maps for l4d or l4d2.

Aw wish i had L4D2... = (

edit: can you easily(relatively) port to the original l4d? Do you have any l4d maps uploaded anywhere i'd love to see them, especially since i want to get into l4d mapping myself.
=)
Commented 14 years ago2010-04-27 12:39:06 UTC in vault item: l4d_sv_wetwork Comment #18140
Very amazing map structurally! (Did you build that whole ship or is it a gigantic model? (i'm new to source i really can't tell!) If you built it it is absolutely beautiful!)

Played a few games and i actually found it quite enjoyable (even with bots), if not a little too easy, and despite the number of tanks you have come out in succession (is that a controlable option?) I usually can make gold fairly easy as long as a tank doesn't smack me off a tower.. =)

Likes:
-easy (lol)
-ship looks great
-lots of interesting areas you could hold up and plenty of resources

Dislikes:
-very dark, even for l4d
-too many boomers (can you control this?)
-seems like there were almost no hunters or smokers
-unclear how to start the game since there is a inordinate delay from the time you press the button till the horde comes, and there is no sound/messageletting you know you pressed anything. It's also a long/boring trip to the wheel house.
-the AI takes forever to help you up... (dunno if this is controlable but it is so annoying)

Anyway it looks great and plays well.
5 stars

"I'm sorry, this isn't a 5 star map. It's nice, but it's not mindblowing."

In the context of the competition, i think it is, but as a stand-alone map i would agree with you. I disagree with you tho, i think it is a superbly well-crafted map, and if it was a normal size, it would be worth 5 stars on it's own.

nice map but dated.

r_speeds are ultra-low, which is a good thing, but this map could stand to have some more interesting terrain detail, as well more varied texturing. stupid overuse of crates, i mean, you could have added boulders, generators, tents, burnt-out trucks etc, but there is nothing BUT CRATES...

ambience? i didn't hear any sounds at all in the whole map.

Superb layout, tons of potential. I'd love to get a hold of the source for this map and make an updated version.

4 stars, but easily 5 with some simple improvements

superb stuff is it possible to align the laz0rs? Main wall texures are a little "sterile" for my tasted but it fits the theme. Nice detail, brushwork and nice to see somone use submodels.

your most incoherent map yet! but still lots of neat doodads, sounds, and effects..
=P

There's also some really nice/interesting brushwork hidden in there. A little less-amalgamized central theme would be nice, but hey, it's still a pretty nice map.

I'm going 5 stars, for another very nicely crafted and detailed cubicles entry. (if it wasn't for cubicles and just a stand-alone map, i'd go probably 3.5 or 4)
