1. The scale for the overlays is set in the properties iirc. I can't open Hammer now to see.
2. Yes you can: select the overlay and use the white dots to resize as you would a normal brush.
3. Not sure about this one, sorry.
4. Yes, this is the correct entity.

As for 5 and 6, I can't tell you without opening Hammer, and this is impossible at the moment. Sorry!

Hmm, that's a strange one. Upload the map, let some Source mappers take a look. I'd look myself, but my computer is being idiotic.

In case you haven't heard, the sequel to Issues and PQL is currently in development: Issues 2! This Spirit of Half-Life powered modification was a large map-pack put together by some of the most talented mappers around. Linked by an ingenious Hub system, PQL and Issues featured some amazing maps (including some from our very own kol).

Firebinder has just publicly announced that Issues 2 is in the works. Currently, kol, Hugh, and most likely myself will be contributing to it. If you're interested, check out the site and see if you've got what it takes to put together a short set of singleplayer maps. Good luck!

Either something's screwed with your configuration settings, or you've given your map a dodgy file name.

This confuses me: you've given your map the name "chriscougle@hotmail.map"? If so, change it. If not, I'd take a look at your settings, they're probably wrong. Also, Google for a download ZHLT, which replaces the old Quake tools.

in Virus making, why? Post #161397
The reason why there's more viruses for MS than any other OS is because Windows is the most popular OS' around. As such, crackers* write software that will affect more users. Simple answer.
  • Crackers are people who write malicious software that affects mainstream users. Hackers are skilled programmers who work against corporate companies and never target a normal consumer - usually they do it for curiosity, money or pride.

Nem's compiller allows you to shut down Hammer while using it, which frees up a lot of memory. So yes, it is significant.

WCD: Next time, use Alt-PrntScrn when taking screenshots. This will take a screenshot of the active window, rather than the entire screen.

This data is required by Bots and Hostages in Counter-Strike:Source, allowing them to "know" how to move around in the environment.
Straight from the horses mouth. ;)

When you load your map, bring down the console and type "nav_generate". This generation of the navigation mesh can take a little while, so be patient. After doing this, try running through the map with bots and hosties.

As for everyone here who hates m0p's computer "knowability," you don't know sh*t, this man is very knowlegable when it comes to computers.
Couldn't fix my problems, that dang noob. :P

Anywho, I agree with building it yourself and I don't. There's a better solution: buy the parts, and get a small computer store to build it for you for a minimal service charge. If you buy the parts from the store and ask them to build it, they will be covered under the warrenty if something goes wrong.

If you buy the parts, build it yourself and something goes wrong, you're got a lot of work to do to get it replaced and whatnot. If the store borks it, its a lot easier. Obviously don't buy a Dell, because they're pieces of shit. Select the parts yourself, get the store to order them in and build it for you. Costs maybe 60-70 bucks for them to build it - pretty minimal charge for a computer that you're paying over a grand for.

Opera has a built-in pop-up blocker so you won't need Google's offering.

Unbreakable: Here's the essential list of applications for good computer health:

1. A good virus scanning program. Trend Micro for a purchasable option, or AVG/Avast for a free solution
2. A good firewall. ZoneAlarm Pro for a purchasable option, ZoneAlarm for a free option
3. Ad-Aware. The free version
4. Spybot: Search & Destroy
5. Process Explorer, as Alex mentioned above
6. CodeStuff Starter. Gives you a comprehensive list of what's happening at Startup.

Well, Internal Beta 3 was released and played!

Changes from Beta Two:
  • Library redesigned
  • Custom tile textures included (thanks dewdle)
  • Custom book textures included (thanks Rabid)
  • Road texture changed
  • Buildings redesigned on street level
  • Displacements redesigned
  • Tunnel redesigned
  • Various texture fixes
  • Various prop additions
  • Custom rock model added
  • Custom soundscape added
  • New sand texture (from dod_anzio)
  • Minor optimisation enhancements
Still a lot to do, and a bunch of errors to fix, but it was a pretty good game.

Well, the guy wasn't in for some reason (tells me to go in on Friday and isn't there, wtf) so I brought the card back home. The BIOS update did squat - soon as I booted, I got pwned. Rebooted a second time, went through the BIOS and managed to get into Windows. Now, I'm gonna guess that it may be shitty drivers from nVidia. I was gonna get the Omega ones, but they haven't been updated since the middle of last year and they have no plans to update them apparently, which sucks arse.

I'm really confused here. Need help plz, kthxbai.

After about a day or so, this is what the library looks like. I'm still working on getting the basic shape of it (lots of stuff to move around) but I'm fairly happy with the results so far. In fact, the re-modelling of the library has allowed me to make up a story for the map, which is good.

Kasperg: If you use Alt-PrntScrn, Windows will only take a screenshot of the active window (i.e. Hammer). This will remove the need to have the taskbar hide itself.

Remember:

in New map,de_Dam with screen: Some idea&#3 Post #159433
Here's some points from that screenie:
  • That overlay under the barrels is far to stretched, it looks silly.
  • The stain overlay you've used on the wall has a flat bottom. Move it down so it meets the bottom of the wall (so it won't end aruptly)
  • Don't use dustmotes in that situation. Dustmotes usually can be seen when there's a distinct break between what's lit and what isn't. If you want, turn the light into a solid beam and shape the dustmotes to fit the beam. You'll get more interesting lighting that way because the whole structure won't be lit.
  • What's the theme of this room? Try adding some painted line decals on each side of the floor. You need something to break up the boringness of the floor.
