you cant change the map without the source .RMF file. my recommendation is to find a better map. and by better i mean anything...make a map circuit...chuck on some easier kz maps, and some normal maps, but if you really want crap you use fy and aim maps and install warcraft mod with CSDM...

mine and grim's are custom, they aren't ripped from vista itself, because microsoft doesnt let people. it's just made to look like vista (the minimize and mzx buttons dont look anything like vista btw), therefore custom.

i am very interested. i myself am a visual basic programmer, and havent gotten fully into c++ yet, and i know alot of the HL/2 coding is copy/paste, but i dont know what

my suggestion is at the end the tutorial, have a small section about what changes you are using hl2. (the file trees are similar iirc)

Also Zombie your maps are CRAP Compared to Kasperg. You are in no position to bash, or give seriouis suggestions to him.omg. i must defend Elof here. his maps aren't crap. it seems purely ironic that on a thread full of people talking about opinions and such, you blurt out and say that.
also, your other sentence is wrong also. different people are better at different parts of mapping. I myself am good at complex entity work and tricky displacements, and suck at lighting and brushwork. i know people who absolutely pwn at lighting, but suck at everything else. to say that someone cant comment on someones map because you yourself dont like that persons maps is stupidly retarded. in fact, elof hasnt even released many maps, and i doubt you have even played them, so your opinion is rendered useless.
dont go saying things like that without backup. and in this case, you cant back it up.

What the hell? Fullbright is the best lighting possible. Also, a gaping hole to the void really gives ambience to a map.

go file -> save movie file
select computer
type name and where to save to
click 'show more choices' and select the 'other settings' radio button
pick DV-AVI (or any other mode where the settings box shows audio-video interleaved (AVI))
click next

people keep going on about which one is better, but they are equally good. It is up to the user to test both and see for themselves. I trialled Opera for two months, but Firefox won out.

People still do these things with the goldsource engine because of the sheer classic aspect of it. Duh its outdated, but its still one fo the most popular engines around. People still play Quake and Doom, what do you have to say to them?the goldsource engine was made for half-life only. it is a modified quake II engine. doom isnt based on the quake engine, it was made before quake. if anything, quake would be based off doom. (but i dont think it is)
Goldsource games were made only by valve or gearbox.
anyways, quake and doom arent goldsource games.
11 games are goldsource, and only 2 aren't on steam. popular? not very.
the quake engine is popular, goldsource is a spinoff.

5. type 'apply.exe'
6. do question thing.

Happens spariodically for me too. Latest version of firefox, usually when my internet connection is under substantial stress. Torrenting, for example.

I've had a similar probelm where i had my map directory as my WON installation, labelled as 'Half-Life 1.5', i renamed to Half-Life 1-5 and it worked fine, but in the end i switched to C:Half-LifeMaps (Half-Life isn't the game, its my modding folder)
try switching to a folder like C:Maps .

those two files are generated by windows. take a look at the xml file in notepad, but im not sure what to do with the dmp. i think thats what gets uploaded to microsoft when you choose to do that...

no coding required, i have done it with my steam cs 1.6 install, just put a file called
'gamestartup'
in
media
steam allows mp3 as well.
for example, mine is:

the games are still available on steam, just all the demos are gone. also, all the games listed as 'not installed' are gone too. you have to go through the steam store to get them. a clever way to get people browsing the store
