It's Windowblinds
K, I just checked into this prog and it does look like what's being used. Since there is NO WAY I'm spendin' 20 MoFoin' bucks on it, does anyone know how much u can do w/ the free version?

EDIT does anyone know about DesktopX? From what lil I just read on download.com, it seems like a completely free version of WindowBlinds, but more powerful. (I'd look into it myself, but it's after 1am here and I'm tired)

One question,, does an explosion in this game cause damage to buildings,, etc?
Yes, I did see the movies, but still, could you collaps a building with a single explosion?
How big and explosion and how big a building are u talkin'? A nade in a skyscraper wouldn't do much, but well placed C4 and u've got yourself a show

I think you've got it all wrong..
That's what I gathered from Xyos' post above mine. This is a thread about PhysX (which I've been awaiting the arival of for months  ), and he was saying
ONe thing I immediatly noticed about HL2 was the props breaking into actual gibs of the prop, not just pre-made generic Gibs
Don't know if he was off topic here, meaning the engine in general, not with PhysX, or not.

Thanx for the link and I do have Melee (I've got all three systems from that gen and am longing for a 360. hate not having any money)

I've thought about the melee trophy but I'm unsure how to go about using it. The quality of pics off of a tv isn't that great and I don't know how to 'crack open' a GCN game on my PC. I tried looking for a ROM, but Melee is one of the title's that hasn't been done yet.

Ok...I had and uber post planned here, but I didn't save it and it took to long to write so it got trash apon clickin' 'post' for some reason  . So here's the condenced version.

Grim - The desktop is a Micro ATX formfactor w/ a PhysX card, low end 512MB vid card, 20.1" widescreen display and a 150GB 10k RPM harddrive (also take 180 of this price as they are items that will go on the laptop as assessories)

Nickel - Can't afford both.

Jobabob - No, it won't be a second display.

Anyway, what help I've really been lokkin' for has been avoided, so i hate to do this, but, I'm asking fo a limited reply again. Given these points:

-The two systems have identical specs, meaning that they are equal in power)
-The laptop gets good battery life
-Upgrading in the near future is a minor concern (as in 12-16 months or this years E3 line-up)

which would u choose: Mobility or Upgradability? Plz...plz just limit your response to one of these two words. Think of this as a poll. I don't mean to be demanding, but that's really all I'm lokkin' for, not the reasoning behind your decision. Thank you.

I need some help locating some images.

I am learning to model using the XSI Mod Tool and a brilliant and ambitious idea hit me the other day. It occured to me that there where no original/imaginative skins for the AWP out there. Then, a bit of nostalgia hit and the idea came to me...the Super Scope. The SNES Super Scope. This has, to my knowledge, not been done yet and I think, all be it ambitious for a beginner, would make an incredible AWP skin.

However, my problem is locating good images to use as my base to model/skin it with. I am not previe to all the tricks to getting the search engines to display exactly what u want. So I call to u, those who can bend Google to your whim. I as your help in bringing a truly original skin into existance for the AWP.

Ok Howdy, I'll address the issues in order of appearance.

1)the card in the Intel model is a GeForce Go 7400 (128MB dedicated/128MB shared, however with 2GB of ram and experts saying the jump from 1 to 2 isn't the great, not an issue)

2)I'm not going to build a multi card system. To my knowledge (so plz limit the dumbass comments), SLi (nVidea) and Crossfire (ATI) allow two seperate video cards to render a single monitor, dividing the workload in half. As that would only be in the $7000 uber system and the custom build would get a low end 512MB (one of the aforementioned upgrades), not an issue. Do note for anyone else, that each setup requires a mobo that supports it. Not all mboards support multicard setups, regardless or PCI-E slot numbers

3)Lastly, I've looked at AMD's 3 year outlook for new tech and DDR3 wouldn't be available 'til 2008. And although Quad-core processors will be out some time next year, there has to be a limit to how long u wait, given the rate of advance it the industy.

I'm not n00b. I have done some research into this issue. Please...all I'm looking for is a simple answer of one or the other and maybe a LITTLE reasoning behind your choice. I don't mean to restrict this so much, but I had expected this to be a lil bit simpiler.

Cash isn't the issue. That HP Pavilion I mentioned, the Intel model has a 2.13GHz Coure Duo CPU, a 100GB 7200RPM hard drive, 256MB video card, 2GB of DDR2 ram and a 17" widescreen display or around $2200 american. I could build a similar desktop (w/ a few upgrades) for the same price. The laptop would last me a year or two, as it's Vista compatible and afterwords will be used for P2P and other download ammenities so I don't have to worry about the main $7000 uber machine i have future plans to build.

In the next two months or so (after the new AMD chipset is released), I am finally going to be getting my own computer. However, I'm having a hard time choosing between a laptop (HP Pavilion dv8000; the AMD model is perferred, assuming the new chipset has the dual-core Turion AND is given a 256MB vid card) so that I've got an all-purpose machine that i can use anywhere, or getting my hands dirty and building my own desktop, so that I can upgrade as the need arises.

So, I throw my mental problem upon the TWHL GD masses to near some (un)experienced and (un)enlightened (covering my bases here ;) ) opinions of the community. Please help me solve my problem and answer the (PC) age old question:

Which is Better: Mobility or Upgradability?

in Problems w/ Latest Steam Update Post #180128
I've discovered just recently another fun little glitch in steam. It seems that on occasion, my games will stop loading altogether untill I restart my account. It'll say the it's starting in it's lil window, then the screen goes black (as it does just b4 the intro and loading screens), but then it returns me to my desktop.

Now, when I first started using steam about 6 months ago, I was impressed at the service, and at valves games in general. However, as of l8, I've been noticing a decline in this. What w/ the glitches in this l8est update, an unanswered e-mail inquiry to customer service, and a blatant lack of phone service for steam to facilitate quick and easy fixes, valve doesn't seem to be out for the general consumer, just the modders that help drive sales by work of mouth, or in CS's/Garry's Mod's case, a new money makin' venture.

Yeah I got into a rant, but shit like this really pisses me off!

Has anyone else noticed any problems w/ Steam lately?

The past couple of days, my games keep randomly going to the preloaded status. A restart of steam fixes this, but it can be annoying when u go to play a game or mod and it won't load b/c it's "preloaded". And they aren't even brand new titles, either. All I've got installed is HL 1.6, CSS, HL2DM and HL2. Mods are Earth's Special Forces and Dystopia.

I'me trying to create a torus in 1.6. For those who don't know, a torus is basicly a hollow donut, a tube that has been stretched in a circle until both ends meet.

All my previous attempts to create one have failed and I'm unable to export one from the Source editer, that I know of. Can anyone offer suggestions, other that a model as I don't know how, to create a good looking torus?

OK...the final post as I've figured out my problem for the most part.

Yes, the FindTexture() and LoadLump() errors were fixed by adding the wads to wad.txt, and I was including the wad correctly as stated w/in the Custom Textures tutorial. Testing a series of brand new maps is how i discovered my problem.

The ED_ParseEntity error was caused by...having over 8 wads in the txt (fyi I've got 21 and could grow still). After trimming the file down to only what I needed at the time, it worked properly. Let this be a lesson to other n00bs...DON'T USE TOO MANY WADS!

(good thing I was able to figure it out b4 the chair(or char?)-keyboard interface...no idea what i would have had to do there  )

I added my wads to that, however I'm not sure if it's the issue or not. When I tried to run the map after compiling it, I got this error:

ED_ParseEntity: closing brace without data

I have no clue what it means, so once again, I'm turning to the ever helpful TWHL community to aid in solving one of my many problems (as seem to always be present in my life :zonked: ).
