I've got to admit that my favourite conference was the Nintendo, not for the games obviously but just for the reactions on Gamespot. When that woman was talking about that clothes shop game and Nintendo was spouting off about their sales figures and so on pretty much so every comment was a "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" and "Nintendo hates us" and then a new metroid game is anoounced and suddenly everything is forgiven.

I know I wouldn't care at all about Left 4 Dead 2 if Gabe Newell had just come on stage and said "Hey guys Episode 3 is in development and its going to be awesome WOOH!" but the fact that he didn't means it feels like a slap in the face for a massive Half life fanboy like myself

in U.S. Army 2030: Things to come Post #267641
On this whole future force warrior thing I don't really understand the point of it, in its current state the US army can kick the ass of any nation it wants willy-nilly and yet they keep spending all this money on more advanced technology which seems unnecessary. Just look at the F-22 raptor that cost something like $622million to design and its supposed to replace the F-15 but what is the point of that, to date no F-15 has been lost in combat which means there was absolutely no need to replace it.

in Quantum of Solace Post #259291
I don't know while Q was humorous it did feel a little camp. But I think at the very least Bond should be able to smile at some point in the film. At least Casino Royale had a few humorous moments and that parkour scene was pure Bond but in Quantum of Solace all those car chases and gun fights could have fitted into any action movie

in Quantum of Solace Post #259276
In all honesty I hated Quantum of Solace or Quantum of shaky-cam as it should have been called. The action was all over the place with the director aiming for a Bourne Identity style shaky cam with differing angles but whereas in the Bourne Identity it was edited in such a way so that you knew what was going on in Quantum they just shot the action from 42 different angles and stuck them all together in editing and hoped everything would work out. As well as that the makers completely missed the point of the Bourne films. Not only did it have bone crunching action but it had an actual story. In Bourne there was that whole thing with CIA politics and of course you wanted to see the conclusion and find out what happens to Bourne and what his true identity is. Whereas with Quantum they completely missed the point, thinking a shaky cam makes a good film and every thirty seconds of dialogue should be punctuated by a gunfight. I could go on about how its not a true Bond film and the song is rubbish and everything but I won't as far as im concerned this Bond film is an unmitigated failure.

in (Speculate) Whats aboard the Borealis? Post #251786
Interesting theory there saw but I think I have the definitive theory of what will happen. Gordon and Alex will go to the Borealis and discover that aperature made a giant bakery in the Borealis and used this bakery to make the most awesomest cake ever in the history of the universe, but it was too good so aperature had to make the Borealis disapear. The reason why the combine come to earth is because they were aperatures main client and not being able to eat the awesome cake has caused them to invade earth so that they could get the Borealis to make more cake. Eli wanted Gordon to destroy the Borealis because he was afraid the awesome cake would cause more aliens to come to Earth and for the vortigaunts to turn against they're human allies for the awesome cake. And in the end they find the bakery set up a business were they make awesome cakes and unite with the combine because of the cakes awesomeness and they all have big tea party. Oh and the awesome cake causes Eli to come back to life to enjoy the cake.

I think that nuclear power is the way of the future. Nowadays with all the safety precautions in nuclear powerplants, the chances of a meltdown are rather slim. Although Chernobyl was a horrible accident and people in Australia were saying that there was nuclear material from the Chernobyl incident there, I cant help but think if that is true then how come the reactor meltdowns that were almost as serious as chernobyl in the USSR that were covered up never seemed to cause a spike in radioactive pressure. And also TJB that was a dumb idea, shame one you

It was designed to show off Valves new destruction engine and frankly I thought the Portal storm looked cool and also in the commentary Valve said they made much more spectacular one originally but the levels it ran on lagged horribly and so they went with the one int the final game.
