Kill a monster to make doors open:

Go into the monster's properties.

Change the Trigger Condition to Death.
Change the Trigger Target to the Name of the door.

I would do some research on Gothic architecture...

What's a Cathedral without a flying buttress?

You'd be suprised by how these things are built. First, you have to decide which kind of cathedral you want. I think you want a Gothic, not a Romanesque, which basically means that it's walls will be extremely thick.

For the light on and off.

make a light

Just go into the light properties, and name it.

Make a brush with the aaaTRIGGER texture, and tie it to a trigger multiple, which means it will trigger it every single time you go on that brush, which will be invisible.

Make the Target of the trigger multiple the name of the light.

It should work now.

If you want the player to press a button to make the light work, make a brush, and tie it to a func_button. Make the target of the button the name of the light, and it should work.

If you want the light to be off at the start, go into its properties, and click Flags. Check the one that says initially dark.

teleport/text/teleport?

I'm not sure what you are trying to say.

yes, you have to trigger the weaponstrip, using the same technique as the light and the game_text.

But check your entity list for brush entities that aren't assigned to a brush. Delete them if you find them.

If you want to show a new level, go into Map, Map Properties, and change the Chapter Title Message to the name of the level.
is it possible to change half-life to other name?
You'll have to change the file.
game_text how to make it shows when i touch?
you use a trigger to trigger it.

Make a brush with the texture aaaTRIGGER.

tie that brush to an entity (tools, tie to entity. or Ctrl T)

Make the entity a trigger once.

Open the properties of the trigger once (Edit, properties. Or Alt Enter)

Change the box that says target to the name of your game_text.

When you walk over the trigger, your game_text should play.
after teleport how can i make the weapons disapears?
use a player_weaponstrip

Do you have limited English?

I'll tell you whats bullshit the fact that on the same day as the shootings over 200 iraqis died in car bombings at once yet there was no news coverage
That was in the news... I remember seeing all the charred vehicles all piled up.

All of these incidents are obviously bad...
But I have to agree that the reason we put emphasis on the Virginia Tech shootings is because it happened so close to home. We can relate more to a society that we live in. A friend of mine actually goes to Virginia Tech.

The killings death and destruction all over the world are horrible, but when something happens that poses danger to ourselves, it scares us a little. My friend was not in that building that day, and she's fine, but the reality that there are sickos out there, brooding evil thoughts and waiting for us to let our guard down, whether it be at college campuses or the work place, is a reason for personal concern.

I hope you do understand I'm not downplaying the loss of life in other countries, or trying to be selfish, but looking out for ourselves is as important as looking out for others.

The whole "bring it home" thing is pretty much why I am concerned about trying to combat Terrorism. There are people out there, radical brainwashed people who have destroyed and twisted Islam, who want to kill me. The fact is, as an American, they want me to die. I don't appriciate it when someone wants to murder me, or wish harm on me, and it does bring a whole new sense of awareness to me.

An old teacher of mine, back from high-school, was actually in the twin towers, in the second building hit. He tried to escape from an elevator, but when the second plane hit, the entire elevator shaft was torched, killing him.

The fact that this could happen to me, and that it did take away someone who was a good friend, infuriates me. I don't wish death upon those who did this, I only wish that they should not be able to do this again, and if that does mean death, then that's a price I would be willing to take.

Then, when something happens far from home, in a third-world country, I still am upset and crave for justice, but the motivation for self preservation is gone. This would be an instance in which my motivation would be the betterment of humankind, which I'm sorry, but Human nature doesn't have an instinct for that, it's all mind.

I've been making an Egyptian based HL1 Mod, where the player gets trapped in an old Egyptian Temple that is... well... much more than just a relic of the past...

The player must complete complex puzzles, and navigate through difficult mazes, all the while fighting the mummies (Zombies) and Scarabs (Headcrabs). Alien_slave = more advanced mummy. I know, kinda silly.

Garg = minotaur (For the Maze part of it)

Eventually, the player will find out... SUPRIZE... that the inside of this temple is made of metal and such, and eventually he will break through the wall and wander around in high-tech stuff, being some kind of military coverup...

Right now, I've already retextured most of the models, and I'm planning on making my own Mummy one to replace the Zombie...

I'm still deciding whether to code or not...

I'm making some interesting textures with alternating random hieroglyphic, and planning out some of the more complex mazes and puzzles (I will make them extremely difficult! Finally, a challenging maze that following the left wall the whole time won't get you out of... Muhahahah!

Modeling the Pharaoh heads is pretty difficult...

Its ambitious of me for my first Mod... or actual first real SP map, but I think I can manage...

I'm still disappointed about the various projects I've started and failed over the years...

TWHLmix 1 and 2
New Problem (VERY OLD. ministeve and I were doing it)
Alise (The space ship one)
Epidemic (It just... sucked)
Infiltration (died because I got bored)

maybe I'll finish something for once...

It all comes down to this basic situation

This is fact (To sensible people):
The government should allow personal freedoms, so long as those personal freedoms do not infringe upon the freedoms of others.

The question:
Where do we draw the line?
Should someone be allowed to own a potentially lethal tool, such as a firearm, that could be used to infringe upon the rights of another (being their right to life)?
Then comes the question of other lethal tools... knives, axes, chainsaws, even screwdrivers...
I see nothing that is different between a chainsaw and a gun when it comes to potentially lethal. Just because one is a projectile shouldn't change anything. Anyone can make their own bow, and everyone would agree it is ridiculous to outlaw bows and arrows.

Then, the argument comes up that guns are only used for bad things.

This is not true at all...

People who hunt use them all the time to shoot animals. Its good sport and I believe some people actually live on what they grow and shoot. Good, however subjective the definition, people would use them to protect themselves and others. Cops use them to make criminals give up. Hell, even I, a somewhat reserved person who does not own a gun and won't any time soon, have gone and shot skeet on a shooting range (my friends were shocked to see me doing something like that :D )

and please, just calling me stupid because I think people should be allowed to own a firearm really doesn't make a point. I find it quite rude... Where's your netiquette? ;)

How you people tied this to Iraq so quickly is beyond me...

With the information that the United Nations had from the weapons inspectors, it was evident that Iraq's government was trying to create WMDs. This was in direct violation of the UN orders that were placed on Iraq after they tried to take over Kuwait (and Iraq's actions there were for oil). With that information, there really is no choice but to stop them from doing so. I still firmly believe that the government of Iraq were trying to create such weapons, as evident by the fact that they tested their own chemical weapons on their own people, building up an arsonal of stuff they weren't allowed to have. I feel it's a good thing we, being the world, stopped them before they could accomplish these goals.

I do believe if someone else in that school had a concealed weapon, that bastard shooter probably wouldn't have had the pleasure to shoot himself.

Plus, just because you outlaw guns doesn't mean they don't exist anymore...

I do understand what you are saying about America, and that there is less crimes to this magnitude in some of the European countries. You have to understand that America is a young country, and a vast one at that. America is the third largest country in the world, the average of our 50 states being larger than the UK. Our borders are VAST, and our resources in defending them are limited. Guns would still be smuggled in, and it is extremely difficult to enforce such an area, especially when our citizens are taught not to respect authority. We've only been around for a small fraction of the time your countries have, and honestly, I think we're doing pretty good for only being around for about 200 years. Banning guns might help in other countries, but based on the people, and the experience of this country, it would only be bad for America to do so.

our 18th Amendment, for example, banned all alcohol (drinkable). This only resulted in the mass organization of crime, and the emergence of gangsters and mob bosses such as the notorious Al Capone. In the south, people still created the alcohol, "white lighting" "Moonshine", and added insane adjustments to their automobiles to escape Cops. Eventually, for the mere fact that every basically just ignored the law, and because of the mass corruption it caused, another amendment was passed nullifying it.

If someone has set out and planned to do something evil, something as demented and disgusting as these shootings in Virginia, they will take it upon themselves to obtain the materials necessary, being a firearm.

I am still reminded of the saying "guns don't kill people, people kill people".
or the satire "guns don't kill people, the government does".

Forgive me for the rant, but I am disgusted with this man's killing spree becoming a pro-GunControl and anti-videogame/music political ploy. Don't blame society, it was this man who did the act, this deranged sick young man.

For those curious...

The killer had the words "ismail ax" written in red ink on his arm, and his suicide note was signed the same way.

I'm a bit curious about what exactly that means... It could be anything from this disturbed child's alter ego, to a reference to the Koran...

Anyone have any ideas?

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs.cmu.edu/project/cmt-40/Nice/Dutch-MT/tools/EnglishTags

In that list, do ctrl f then type in ismail ax, and you'll find it. Means nothing, coincidence.

As all of the American members are aware, a person at Virginia Tech has just gunned down 32 students, making it the worst shooting rampage in United States history.

I just want to send my condolences to those who were affected by this tragedy. I have a friend who goes there, and studies engineering, and I just recently found out by e-mail that she is OK, thank God...

This incident absolutely sickens me... the extent to which a person can be driven to evil stuns me.

I just want to point out that this will probably spark, from some very sick people, debates about gun control, and how pop culture, including video games and music, would drive someone to do this. This is not the case, and I seriously hope people aren't mislead into treating this event as a political ploy. Please, be wary of what you hear, and don't give into such inappropriate discussions. Believe me when I say this: This man planned this act, and was driven to an extent of evil unknown to my mind, and no gun control, music, video-games and the such either prevented or encouraged him to do the things he did. Pray, Meditate, or even just think about the victims and their families, don't condemn or blame.

This tragedy has brought a great evil upon the world that has nothing to do with meaningless politics, it is a horrible incident done by a mislead and wrongful man, who acted alone out of reasons unknown.
