I would like to know how i can make a light turn on or off, or just change colers (like in Crossfire) is this possible? maybe using env_render? i tried but you can change brightness can you? please help anyone.

Ok... so i was mapping a multiplayer map, and i found out you can use Func_tanks From really far away. so a cool trick that i was gonna add to the map (that only i would know about was a gun up in the sky that i could acsess and shoot every one from my own safety :lol: but then i got ta thinkin and thought up a really good idea( i mean what are you to do if the maps got lots of dif rooms?) you can actually add cameras right above the gun trigger the cam and the the gun and shoot people in the room that far away. :) :| :( :x :lol: :confused: :o :roll: :P :D : :zonked: :nuts: :badass: :cool:

Thanks but when i put a Xen_light in my map it just closes up when you get to close and opens when your far again... it doesn't even have its own light... but if I knew how to turn a light on and off then I could use a trigger multiple too turn it on and off, but i don't how.

#1. I want a light to be able to be turned on and off.

#2. I want the alien lights to work in my map like they do in the game.(you know, where they turn off if you get to close and on again once you move away)

Delay before retrigger on the trigger auto... is there a delay before retrigger? do you have it set? would that change anything.

You could do:

Render Mode: color
FX Amount: (depending on how transparent you want it... 0=completely transparent, 255=solid)
that works.
but is there a problem w/ what your doing?

im not used to tfc and im pretty new w/ hammer in fact you might wanna ignore what i say if it confusses you (i confuse my self somtimes ) but this is my best advice

for #1 use the action animation part of the scripted_sequence entity to control what you want it to do

for #2. this is my best suggestion... make a model with milkshape... compile it into a .mdl put it in a .pak file and use a monster_generic to display it.

NO CONTENT CONTROL!...through the months go to cyber cafes... play CS and HL... observe home-made levels... want to create home-made levels...google... type in "create your own HL levels... fall upon hammer...can't figure out the danged thing...(no thanks to the "help" section of hammer...google... type valve hammer help... fourth one down...TWHL!... learned many a thing... through trial and error... but mostly through TWHL.
starts to weep, partly in joy, but mostly in thankfulness

i have car... i want it to explode everytime you shout it.

i tride doing this... making the car a func_button giving it health and having its target an env_explosion. Good idea right ...no... wrong.
because...
#1. no madder how much health you give the button you only havta shoot it once.
#2. you can only do it once because the env_explosion doesn't reset its self.
does ANYONE else have ANY ideas on how to make this work?

Area 51... you woudn't even have to make any custom models... its all there...millitary guards the outside of the place, and alien expieraments inside...scientist work the expieraments... and barney could be security inside the buildings, gman could even be the "head pancho".

if worst comes to worst and you cant fix it you could make everything but the elevator move so it looks like your moving up but really every thing else is a func_train moving down. :)

from what i know from milkshape... there is a pre made model attached to every V_(gunname) model you should just have to make a gun.mdl for when its sitting on the ground and in some one elses hands and when your looking at it from your view. nut for the yuor view thing you can take the pre made model and make some sequence .smd and ad it to your gun model. if that makes any sense good, if not sorry i would explain it if i had time + i dont have all the facts. :confused:

a func_push wont hurt the player. you can make a func_train set its name to "train" or somthing change it so its invisible (do that by stting the fx mode to coler and fx amount to 0) set up to path corners and make a button with the target to the name of the func_trian. if you need more help say the word. i hope i even help... i pretty new.

ps. if you dont want them to get hurt use func_push. hope i helped :nuts:
