It's gone the way of Duke Nukem Forever. Oh wait, that comparison doesn't work anymore.
It's going well.
What lenses do you have Strider?Standard 18-55mm lense, f/3.5 - 5.6. I use a polariser filter too, I think it makes a world of difference with outdoor shots. Can't afford a nice new lense right now. ;P
The most important part is that you get the raw light data straight from the sensor, which you can later post-process to retrieve more detail in the image than the camera can generate for a JPEG.This is exactly why I work with RAW. If I find places I think are too washed out, or overbright, I can usually tone them down just enough without losing much quality.
Ahh the world of macro photography. Sometimes I'd really like to have a macro lens.So would I. But I do have a cheap macro filter pack that sorta' does the job, though. For an amateur like myself, anyway.
My avatar is a screaming guy. It's Jim Carrey, isn't it?
I have too D:Ah yes, didn't see that.
I have too, and what's more, i still have the (big) box.Sweet. No One Lives Forever 1/2 on disk too, nice.
I watched the portal demo on e3 and I pretty much saw all the effects I saw in the trailer.I've seen them too, twice in 720p. There are no dynamic rays, no DOF, and you can bet no console is going to be using such a scale of supersampling at a playable rate. This isn't a bad thing as most console games don't have those anyway.
What?!Oops. It was. ;(
When did this happen?
That better be a typo.
Crepuscular rays?'God' rays. This sort of thing. You can see them in use in the L4D intro videos, too, along with a heap of supersampling and depth of field effects.
The video was all mostly realtime. Check my Portal 2 videos thread. it looks like Source uses completely dynamic lighting in Portal 2, or at least dynamic sky light. You can see shadows cast by leaves and such move around in parts of the videos. That's all looks like an upgraded version of the projected lighting the flashlight uses in Ep3/L4D/L4D2. It's nothing new for Source, except obviously being optimised enough for widescale use.
mine didn't turn purpleI've gone and purpled all over the place, I'm so embarrassed.
