Also, I think it's possible using a different setup to make a teleport which picks a truly random spot within an entity's area. I might test that out, because that certainly isn't happening in vanilla.

Indeed! I guess I also wanted to highlight the other modes of a multi_manager in Spirit. I didn't notice them at first, and they seem like they could be used for all sorts of interesting effects.
This also is a more true randomness as opposed to the... "simulated" randomness vanilla forces that setup to use. If used in a deathmatch map, people entering the teleporter at the same time might get stuck in each other. There's also the weighting thing, which would take serious redundancy to replicate in vanilla.

The setup I was considering when I tested this was a map where a certain section of the level could be cut off, and if that happens, have a teleporter that would effectively "respawn" the player back into the main part of the map.

Incidentally, does anyone know how the game picks a respawn point? Is it random, or on a cycle, or is it affected by where you die, etc.

Simple map that is very dark throughout. Puzzles involve either a pushable battery (as mentioned above) or buttons that open doors several rooms back. And forth. Nice short map that is limited to low level weapons and monsters. There was an attempt? at horror ambience, but it wasnt really very scary. Dunno if anyone else was spooked

tried fixing this. Deleted all the invalids and got csg and bsp to work. Tried rad, and there was some brush problems where it didn't identify the problem brush(es). I got the feeling that this map could totally have been fixed if the compiler told me which brushes were causing problems. Did not dare try to run the map in-game. Too bad though, I looked at the map in hammer and the castle interior, although kinda cramped, could be fun to play in. Wish I was skilled enough to fix the problems :(

If you PM, I can send you the half-fixed version. I also deleted the entire town side of the map to simplify things, hope you dont mind.

could not use this map due to missing textures. Required wads are chateau.wad, cs_assault.wad, zhlt.wad, and an unknown fourth wad. PM me if you are interested in my modifying this map and inform me the missing wad. I also noticed the map seems to be way too huge and might not run too well in game.

Hopefully it's going to be an assault type map. Like some of the levels in HL2/EP1 in C17, attacking combine positions in war torn C17. And I use FD for my flash stuff. It probably is, but I think it's fun to do stuff, I use FlashPunk to help me a lot, I probably wouldn't have gotten far into programming without it. It's funny though cause I'm in a basic C# class now and it's all incredibly easy compared to when I first started in AS3.

EDIT: Have another screenshot in the main post. Learning all over again how much I hate lighting, and how badly I suck at it.

Nice map, what are you going to do with it?

I downloaded FlashDevelop last year and wanted to scratch a bit the surface of flash programming, but it seemed boring, and after reading a couple of opinions on this subject it seems that Flash is dying so I really lost interest.

In my mind's eyes; compare it to this saying. When the benefit outweighs the risk, you take the risk "if you so choose."

In existence in general, I think the good outweighs the bad, so with that being the case, existence is simply true if you are born.

This unfortunately does not pertain to some people's lives. "The bad might outweigh the good in their existence." So for those you can only hope they get another run. And hell, you can only hope they get an infinite amount of chances to get it right.

There's no telling for sure, but it would make sense that when you die, you have the option to go again or not. Either that or if the case is that when you die "if your entire knowledge of existence lives in your brain" then there's two things that will set you at ease. Number one: don't worry about it because you can't know your dead after your brain and entire body checks out (you die). Number two: you might try living each day like your last because you believe or are convinced (don't have faith otherwise) that this is all you got. That's where a lot of people turn to religion, it's just a bunch of choices you make. You can even have faith without religion.

So like I say, i'm here right now because when I died I chose to live again, since the beginning. Either that or it was an accident. Now the beginning implies that there is one, but that's just non sense in my mind's eyes. A beginning doesn't make sense although since so many things we experience have a start and finish like a vehicle, a toy, anything in reality that vehicle comes from various stuff that was already around. It was just organized together in a certain way. So you might fear that "we are so complex" that when we are destroyed we will never exist again but that's like saying in an infinite amount of time "reality's medium" your combination of complexity will never reconstruct itself on its own. Well you might not remember it when you come to exist again on another planet in a trillion years but it sounds highly probable when infinity is the playground and chance is the father of everything.

Why do you think technology is so advanced? It's simple. Anything that's worth remembering is stored somewhere. If you are worth remembering, your span of being remembered will go on for a certain amount of time. Probably not long enough for you to live again while those memories can be found realistically but who cares.

In general I think it makes sense to live your life to the fullest you can. Sometimes it involves taking educated risks. Hell without such the case, we might not exist...

Might I add, you should probably consolidate your objectives. Mine used to be a ton of shit. Now, it is to "make good furniture". When you have less goals, you have a lot more time to focus on what is important to achieve them successfully.

Exceptionally good puzzle based mod. Most of the puzzles are very original too, since I havent ever saw them in other mods I played. Except the rolling boulder one, that one is in lots of mods. But the originality of this and the easily intuitive nature of these puzzles make it really good. Hints are great too as well as the obligatory collection sidequest. 5/5 across the board!

I already left a lengthy review of this on RTSL and I stand by everything I said. It's stunning.

He even faked brushwork Ambient Occlusion with blocklight brushes at corner points. Awesome way to take advantage of an aging engine.

Qwertyus is right mostly, this is a bit hard becaues some of the rats cannot be seen (but can be reached with grenades.) I think its better if all the rats can be seen rather than not but get blown up by random guess grenades.

The map itself is definitely suited for this purpose, seeing as how difficult it is to find all the rats. Good thing gordon never applied for that exterminator job
