@Hunter: I wasn't evangelizing in the least. Calm down, grow up and stop being so hateful and intolerant. I was just saying that he should get into some kind of volunteer organization as people tend to be much more friendly in such contexts. I NEVER SAID IT HAD TO BE A CHURCH. That was just my example.

It seems a good deal of people are only "friends" when it's convenient. Believe me, I've had the exact same kind of things happen to me. I try to be loyal and go out of my way for my friends, but some of them are completely the opposite toward me, even though we've known each other for years.

I know how you feel. It's hard sometimes to find people who aren't self centered and only care about their own pleasures. Maybe find a good cause to hook up with. I volunteer with a local church and have found some of my closest friends there. People who volunteer a lot of their time tend to be a lot less self-centered and more caring. Just a suggestion to think about.

Good way to discourage new mappers from mapping. Heard of constructive criticism, rather than bashing?

Mine came in sideways so they had to cut into my jawbone, and then snap them into pieces to get them out. Fortunately, I was sedated and on morphine for the procedure. Would have been excruciatingly painful otherwise - Novocaine doesn't work too well on me. I can still feel where parts of my jawbone are missing. And yes, you drool lots of blood.

I'm actually mostly over it now. NBD really. I think we should wait until we have something to really panic over, like a strain of flu that actually does turn people into zombies.

I just want to say, putting any sort of blame for WWI and WWII on religion is utterly stupid. Those wars were motivated by politics, not religion. Nazi Germany may have acknowledged God, but were much more Atheist in their views than Christian. Many Christians in Nazi Germany were intensely persecuted as well, and many helped shelter Jews that would have otherwise been killed in concentration camps. Anyone who blames most of the world's wars on religion needs to get their facts straight. Most wars are caused by political reasons such as desire for land and resources, control of people, control of strategic locations (port cities, trade centers, etc.), political rivalry and other things.

Not too shabby, better than the fullbright cubes that some people upload - aka most awp/aim/fy maps.

Who cares if autos are easier.
-Manual gives you more control
-Manuals last far longer than autos
-Less maintenance
-Less weight
-Cheaper
-Better gas mileage
-More power to the wheels
-Less wear on brakes since you can downshift

Hey, you'll only be about 60-80 miles north of me. Colorado is awesome, especially if you love art and photography.

And sucks to hear about your grandfather. I wish this world wasn't filled with people dumb enough to get behind the wheel of a car drunk.

I hate these kinds of maps. There's too many of them. It's like the box-shaped awp maps that everyone and their dog seem to make.

I absolutely love how they redesigned the Facebook homepage for use by old people*. It's like a Mac. Make all the simple features easily accessible, but make the more advanced configurations almost impossible to get to.

I always try to give a good mix of both negatives and positives for the maps I comment on. I do like your maps, but that won't stop me from saying what could be improved. I expect constructive criticism on my part, and I will always give it to the people whose maps I comment on.

Believe me, I've improved a lot from the criticism I've received on my own maps and by reading comments on others' maps as well. However, there is some undue criticism that is just people whining/nitpicking about small things - which is useless to gain any sort insight from. For example, I've had people whine about a brick texture I used on a Source map - simply because that texture was the first on the list and they use it as a base texture instead of the dev textures. Makes me wonder if they use AAATRIGGER as a base texture when mapping for GoldSRC since it shows up by default.

Great map. I especially loved the laser room. Very well put together puzzle. I also liked the maze and the setup of rotating pipes.

+ Good brushwork and texturing
+ Challenging puzzles

- Rotary puzzles didn't let you look at them while turning the cranks
- High r_speeds
- Lava room

Overall, very well done. However, the performance was poor under openGL, so I had to switch to D3D, which ran fine. Also, the vertical rotation puzzle ended up being too frustrating, so I dropped the gravity and just jumped all the way up. The lava room was also troublesome, so I ended up bypassing most of that as well.

Still, despite the drawbacks, a job well done.

Wow, the detail is insane. A bit small, and I didn't like getting clipped out of areas, but nonetheless, a really great job.

Okay, so this is my impression:

+Good texturing
+Good brushwork
+Good lighting

-Layout is a bit too complex (too many corridors)
-Feels a lot like de_nuke

Overall, four stars.

Why no HDR? It's really easy to implement. Just check the box in the RAD compile options.

Since clients can disable HDR, it won't affect those with low-end machines, but would provide some eye candy for those with more powerful machines.

Stuff like that tastes so much better than "industral" food. Plus, unless you get kosher sausage, you never know what's going into it. If you've ever eaten non-kosher hot dogs or sausage, just think of any part of an animal - and you've probably eaten it.

I'm guilty of this as well. I got plenty of maps that are sitting around unfinished, many of them really good ideas. I'm thinking of starting on some of them again.

Heck, my CS Source "masterpiece" has taken me nearly 3 years on and off, and I'm still only about 70-80% finished.

I think each sky brush only counts as 1 wpoly. And yes, if you must use a skybox, null anything that cant be seen.

Very good map but as Kasperg said the r_speeds are a bit high. Get rid of the skybox and use skybrushes instead. And use the null texture wherever possible. Still looks good even on an old engine. 5 stars.

very creative and original. r_speeds were pretty stable even though the wpoly count went over 1000 at some spots. doesnt really matter im still struggling to lower the r_speeds on my map. overall an excellent job.
