I dont know if your still on the same topic or not, but here is a response to the intitial post:
Changing your walking habits on ice does make a difference. You minimize the amount of mass being distributed down to the foot by walking a certain way. Look at it like this: A cone is slanted at a 45 degree angle. Its weight is not concentrated at the bottom, but in fact at the top. Now, at 90 degrees the weight is concentrated and distributed to the bottom. Relate that example to the feet and the body.
This principle does not work by simply concentrating in a "half-asleep" state. Even if the muscles were to move and constrict upward there is no inertial stress to lift the mass of the person upward. Mass cannot lose its own mass. Gravity effects mass. These obstacles cannot be overcome simply by "clearing your mind"
THis is a completely false belief, and I suggest not wasting time trying to attempt it.
