it does, not directly "func_keypad" or anything... but it does have a lot of entity features that cut out a lot of the entitywork.

i'd like them back, for screenshots etc. But who will bother putting in thumbnails, and making the [img] nested in a [url] to a bigger image ? eh?

i think its better without them, but i still think it would be nice to have some pictures in posts - maybe just in the Maps & Mods forum? that way there's no excuse to post crap - because its already in the wrong forum.

Placing sky brushes is easy, since the shape and placement of sky brushes makes no difference, the sky is rendered a bit like a sprite - without wpoly cost. so you can just expand the walls and put a "roof" on.

wow - i can't say i learnt any major thing that i didn't know before, but all the information is very clearly put - that video dispelled any doubts in my mind (even though i found it hard listening to the American accent - i seem to associate it with lies mostly - sorry) about the business connections and the beneficiaries of certain "events"

Even if you're a cynical prick - watch this.

As much as i try to refrain from politics in the forums, actually reading and watching this stuff gets scary after a while :(

Hmm...

Ok. One good way to promote your mod, is to show existing work. Just set up a freewebs website or something, and show off your best screenshots / models etc. (and all the ideas of course - plot, story, game info etc)

Then when you get dedicated people working with you, you can get a proper website and start pimping you mod. Then mappers will come to you - instead of the other way arround.

Planning is key, and the lack of it often kills a good mod.

we will work out a system for naming entities and how many props each person will be able to use.
Suggestion of the entities: make each person prefix all entity names with their initials: eg:

h_explo_trigger
h_snd_amb

etc...

Ok.. and is the actual colour blue in the texture blue? becuase sometimes when you change pal. colour depth you get (RGB 0 0 255) turning into (RGB 2 1 253) or someting similar...

The thing you need is all your ideas in one place - setup a website, do some of the work your self, and then ask for help.

I'd say this would be easy to do:

Make a "New posts since last visit" page, or link or something -

Basically display a list of all the topics that get marked with a * on one page - so you can open up all of them quickly in your tabbed browser and commence the postage ;)

Oh, just got an idea: We should be able to add to other people's stuff: But in moderation and with proper communication with the original author.

I mean things like r_speed reducing techniques, or maybe an improvement in brush structure ( that doesn't change appearance, but runs better - and yes, there is such a thing)

Another thing is NULL / HINT textures, you should be able to change those if needed

And Little tiny bits like env_sounds (that a lot of people forget) and env_glows around some lights.

Maybe even go as far as changing the difficulty a bit to give the map a bit of balance overall.

All of that with the original author's & the team's consent.

Great to see this thing gathering momentum :P

Here's an idea: How about you start making your map now - but start small, because remember that it has to be small in order to get other people in too.

Then you can just do something like vassy said: a teleport.

Can't wait to get a new HDD so i can start maping for this thing :D

Here's what i've planned so far:

3 Areas separated by teleports: 1 area was to be a wormhole sequence ( a kind of an intro.. but not any more because i can't do the first map..)

Area2: Grunts, lots of combat
Area3: My take on Xen: with more combat and a few surprises :P

Gonna max out the Texture memory & brush entity limit and force you to a levelchange - MUHUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :x ;) :P
