Holy shit! Chickenfist! How have you been?
Hey! Weeell, life's been keeping me busy. Changed jobs like a maniac. Lost my father to cancer. And in a few weeks I'm off to law school. Honestly never thought I'd make another Half-Life map again, but then I saw this. This map will be my fond adieu, of sorts! :>

There may be enough room to hold a lot more people, but we need that room to hold the food and resources the current population needs. If we use that space in more population, where would we store/harvest food and resources for all?
We will need to waste less resources. The sheer amount of food and resources we waste, throw away and misuse would be enough to support a LOT more people if used properly.
Sure we can survive by only eating vegetables, but there is a reason that we are so crazy about meat and that is because without it surviving is harder. Same reason earwax tastes like shit because to eat it is really not beneficial in any way.
Not really. The only thing we need in the meat to survive is the essential amino acids, which we just as easily can get from, say, soybeans.
Also, even if we can survive eating nothing but plants, we still need the other animals. We're all familiar with how the circle works, from plants to plant eater to meat eater and back again. And as Stu mentioned, we still need huge amounts of space to grow as much plants needed to feed us.
Well, yeah, but imagine all the space we use up now to grow food for cows, which we then eat. We could just as easily use that space to grow food directly for humans, skipping a step.

And this comes from a guy who really loves a good steak.'
And once we can cure everything, our genetic diseases will pass on to the coming generations who will be dependant of these medicines, and if anyone decides to take them away, or some sort of social collapse occurs, then we are all pretty much doomed.
If we can cure anything, why wouldn't we be able to cure genetic diseases? And if a social collapse occurs, I think we're pretty much done anyway.

At least swords were a fair fight. If you had some skill and experience, you could defend yourself fairly confidently. I can't imagine any situation where you'd feel safe at all when someone pulls a gun on you.

But you just try and get society back to them.
Yes, imagine being mugged and producing a rapier. Good sport!

Interesting commentary;
What do you want us to do to prevent this? We give them education but they abuse the teachers, we give them job centres and encourage them to seek employment but they don't. We have offered them all they need to get their lives on track, but they are content living on the beneficts we give them for free. If we forced them to work or took away their benficts there would be an uproar. These are the same people who will burn ambulances because they represent authority. They complain about being oppressed by the police as if a high police presence in a high crime area is a breech of human rights. Yes there is a problem, but the problem is perpetuated by them, the government isn't keeping them down, they're keeping themselves down. If anything the government has made poverty too comfortable. We have given them everything they need on a plate, but they expect us to feed it to them as well.
We could help them by cracking down on crime, but apparently that just results in looting. They wallow in the filth of their own making and bitch that the government doesn't clean up after them, and when they do, they bitch about the government oppressing them. These are people who resent authority but rely on it to live. We have done all we can, if they want a better life, they have to put some effort in themselves. We can't do for someone something they aren't willing to do for themselves.

It's not about protesting. Protests these days has lost their meaning. Every true protest just becomes a reason for thungs, wanksters and trash to break and steal stuff, and fight police. They don't care about the issue. Listen to this clip, for example.
Sickening.

But hey, this has happened pretty much every G4-summit ever, so I guess it isn't anything new.

Aaaah, the intelligent, educated discourse between gentlemen :)
He reformed Libya, made it the riches country in Africa. He did more than enough.
Obviously not, since, well, his own people rose up against him, literally requesting the assistance of the western world after he started mindlessly slaughtering everyone. (Also, the Libyan economy is way inferior to say the Egyptian. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_African_countries_by_GDP_%28PPP%29) The biased "America is the devil!" view that rose in europe during the Bush-era is stupid, but somewhat understandable. But yes, anyone sensible would not outright dislike an entire country. The American view that the USA is the only power in the world capable of defending an western lifestyle is also, however, fairly ridiculus. The EU has a common defense policy since the Lisbon Treaty was put in effect, and has three great powers as members: the UK, France and Germany, who together could match the US armed forces.
Wheres the proof that he actually did do it? As far as I can tell the twin towers were blown up by explosives not airplanes.
The proof is there, and it's more credible than anything the tinfoil-hats have produced.

in Phones: What Phone You Have, And What Yo Post #289199
I don't need them, and frankly, I don't like how smartphones are trying to blur the lines between everything. When you specialize, you generally do well. When you try to do everything, you generally suck at it all.
Doing something decently is better than not doing it at all. Some of us actually needs to be able to do bank business, check timetables, news and find phone numbers on the go. The good thing about having a camera`-phone is that you'll always have it with you, since you never know when you might wanna take a picture. Carrying one gadget beats carrying around a billion.
But until I need one, I don't want to be one of those teenagers/20 something's obsessed with their phones.
I also, quite frankly, do not understand how it's possible to live without a phone. How do you contact people? Home phone?

You probably compiled with debug information, which brings the file size up alot. (the standard size is a wee bit larger than 95 kb, tho.) Doesn't explain why it didn't work, though.

In a market economy it's rarely enough just to be first.
And Bill Gates never had an original idea in his head. All was either bought as you say or he bought the people to make it happen. And the operating system really hasn't "changed" all that much to actually help anyone--just how many copies can we sell for a hundred bucks a pop.
Yeah. Windows 7 is pretty much Win 1.0 with flashy desktop effects... Or wait.
Then why and the hell were there so many problems on it's release? Because nobody could get it to work on their older machines. My boss just bought an older computer a week ago and bought windows 7 and couldn't get it to hook to the internet because why? because windows 7 couldn't pick up the older hardware. IT IS NOT FULLY backwards compatible and I will never buy it.
It's not realistic for it to have drivers for every piece of hardware ever released. Providing drivers is the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Oh I'm sorry. But anyway, normal religious people will always try to be good.
They will most of the time, yes. As will normal non-religious people. Most people are intelligent and healthy enough to have sufficient morals, and these have nothing to do with religions conviction. I know this has been said a hundred times before but it is an important point to make.

A lot of Christians believe that they're being good and doing the right thing by spreading their religion, however. The British Empire thought they were saving the souls of many a poor misguided heaten.

I think the general problem is the conviction. Everyone believes they're right. Christians are sure they're right, so it's not hard to understand why they try to convince others to follow, what they believe, is the right way. Same thing applies to atheists and everyone else. We all believe we're right and we can't understand why others are stupid and can't see it our way. It's intolerant, of course, but it's very understandable.
Religion is for the hope of a better life after death.
An Opiate of the masses, as Marx would have said. ;) A hope that suffering now will be rewarded in another life to take focus away from the real causes of the real pain. Although Marx would also have said that the cause of the real pain is capitalism :p.
