server's fault points finger and wags it sternly.

When you upload, the file gets stored temporarily until it's done, then it's moved. I reckon the server deletes the temp files pretty frequently, and it sometimes just happens to delete one you're busy uploading.

You'd think it would keep recent files (and sessions, for that matter - you've probably noticed how it logs you out randomly), but it doesn't, which is dumb, but perhaps necessary, since the host has about a million other sites to deal with.

try it again. persevere!

okay, you got me! It is a conspiracy, I haven't written one, it is complicated, I have been arrested, and I have been transported through time to the Victorian era... so I'm writing this on a typewriter.

That last bit best explains why there's no edit feature.

in Missing PreFabs Post #3733
There were a few posts a while ago about missing Prefabs...
We did try to put people on track, but when I was mucking around with my New cs map, I found that Hammer 3.5 doesn't have any Prefabs included.
If you have this problem, just copy the prefabs from 3.4 into your file structure for 3.5 or use 3.4
I only use 3.5 for model placement and the occasional LEAK trace. Mostly I use 3.4

Yeah, Jobabob is right, it might not look like the brush is outside thew world, but it is. Only thing you can do is delete it or do some Vertex manipulation to it and bring it back to the real world.

in Completely OFF TOPIC!!! (Music). Post #3730
I just sat for 10 min writing a response to Marlborometal, when my computer decided to get F.UP...Let try it again..

I love DCA, its one of their best albums IMO. Its both brutal and melodic and the balance between black metal and classical music is perfect :D

As for the military sounds in the beginning of Unorthodox Manifesto..
it is a bit annoying, yet it fits in if you read the lyrics of Eradication Instincts Defined..
I have not thought about the polictical aspects of it, however its true what Silenoz says. politic is for politicians.

I hope they come to spain soon, they are 935723947 times better live=)

open up the .map file hammer generates when compiling, look for any brushes going waaaay off into the distance (the coords show this, as they are long past +/- 4096). Thats your invalid brush, delete and remake it.

in Decal Problem :( Post #3719
I've got a really annoying problem with creating doors! I'm trying to make a door to a new room for my Nuclear map (which I had had to delete from the vault because of a bad upload!). I want to get a door that opens upwards like the door to the test lab (big orange door).
But when I try to put one in, it just swings outwards and the wall to the room is still in the bloody way! How do you make upwards doors, and also, do you have to texture the surface of can you just decal them!
m0p m0pIllogical.

yeah, accept Valve didn't write a .dll to hook hammer into half-life so it could use half-life's screenshot function. LOL

in brush outside world (liar) Post #3702
Did you actually verify that by using the 'Go to Brush number' command? If you compiled with visible objects only, make sure that you check 'Search visible brushes only' or it won't find it. And even if it doesn't look like the brush is screwed up, try hiding it and recompiling.

in tanklaser Post #3688
Huh? I am able to walk away from the tanklaser and come back and use it as many times as I want. Look down at the console before you press the 'use' button. You could fix that by making the func_tankcontrols brush taller. If you are using the half-life entities in spirit, then that could be the problem. If not...shrug. The jumping laser can be fixed by putting zero in the 'amount of noise' field of the env_laser. If none of these fixes work, it could be a 'wetware' problem.
