Use Irfan view (If it worked) or PSP. It should work with photoshop though...I don't know if it does, but it does with any decent graphics program. Paint screws it up like hell.

Hmm...texture? Let's see...it must be 256 colours for a start...can't think of any other probs, size only applies when importing textures with crappy HLMV/Jed's decent HLMV.

Can't remember the name...but it was three rooms which were far too big, and the walls were made of water, so it didn't run :P
The entity setup was crap as well...I think it was a turret, a player start, a couple of sentries, and a couple of grunts. There were also buttons and a ladder. And some cool pillars!

For the texture...get Jed's HLMV. There's a link somewhere on

http://vassyhl.tk...go there! It has screenies of my hacks of Ambient.Impact's hgrunt/hgrunt_opfor models, plus a few extras I made by mixing the submodels around a bit :P
More coming soon! Feedback would be nice. Downloads will be available (With proper credits included) as soon as Ambient.Impact allows hacks of his opfor grunt to be released, which should be soon.

in HL Map Idea, cool! Post #22835
I think you'll find it is. In Sven Co-op, there's a map called stadium3. That allows you to put most monsters (Including apaches and new Sven monsters/monsters nicked from opfor), but there's a limit to how many you can have at a time...and Sven's monstermakers have more options than HL ones. It also has an airstrike table, a flooding button, a light switch, and a massive airstrike that will destroy everything. The map doesn't have stands, it's just one massive box with a sky, an arena, and teleports which allow you into the arena.

Umm, doesn't this contradict itself? You can do it but it's crap?

I never use my work area, I use my mum's 'cos it has the internet, and the others don't. Also, I need to reinstall everything, so currently it's unimpressive. I used to have a 007: Nightfire wallpaper (Which The Scruncher loved: the only people there were women...so I was mean, and made sure they were covered up by windows media player being full screen :badass: ), I then changed it to the HL BDay pic from VERC, but I couldn't read the text on the icons, so I changed it to the cool "crystal" wallpaper which came with XP, also, my windows XP theme is a silver version of pepper's.

Wrong place. They shouldn't be in any mod's folder (valve counts as a mod folder). Those are in the valve folder. C:SierraHalf-Life is where they go, not C:SierraHalf-Lifevalve. I said that right at the start...

in SD model discussion Post #22399
Use this thread to discuss SD models, recommend certain SD models, give download links, give your opinions on them, what you think of them compared to the normal HL models/Blue-Shift high definition pack, stuff like that. Anything related to SD models basically. I'll start this off:

Favourite SD model: Ambient.Impact's HEV barney (See my av)

Second favourite: Ambient.Impact's HGrunt (You can get this on just about any SD model site)

Compared to Low definition models: Well, considering these SD models are better than the models in Perfect Dark, which are basically low def, these are outstanding compared to them.

Compared to Blue-Shift high definition pack: Still far superior to it, although the BS pack had some good things in it, like the new shotgun, and the M4A1 replacing the MP5.

Most recommended: Either the HEV barney, or the riot shield barney, since the riot shield actually works.

Vital links:

Half-Life Improvement Team
http://hl-improvement.com
This site has links to things like Jed's HLMV, transparency dlls etc. in the forums. You can also make requests there, post modelling problems etc.

Sven Co-op
http://svencoop.com
This mod came with some optional SD models. While they aren't as good as some of the ones on the HIT forums, they are still pretty good. You can make requests in the forums.

Art of War
http://planetquake.com/aow
Just about every kind of SD model you can think of, with only a couple of things missing...check the Sven Co-op section for HL models. For the missing models, just ask in HIT's forum (See above).

Bmoore's SD model site
http://sdmodels.cjb.net
Almost like an unfinished version of Art of War (See above), it has a large variety, but not all of the links are up yet. It's still worth looking at though, since you can get unique models such as an HEV suit scientist, and an HEV Barney that wears a helmet. Also has probably the largest collection of hacked SD HGrunts I've ever seen (20 last time I looked).

I wonder if my obsession is starting to worry people yet...

in Sequences Post #22396
Some sequences just can't be used for things like that EG: "Run" will make him run a couple of steps on the spot, then stop. Some of them are regular idle/walking/running/dying etc. animations. Also, get Jed's HLMV, it's better than the normal one. There's a link somewhere on http://hl-improvement.com/forums

in Any help would be apprieated Post #22395
Use Xeno.wad as well. And, if you REALLY want, spraypaint.wad. Nothing else, unless you're mapping for CS, which I believe you are, in which case you can use any wads that came with CS...just make sure you ask about some of them, because not everyone who has CS owns them...like chateau.wad, which I don't have. Also, never use more than 8 wads at a time, and please DON'T use as many textures as possible...it looks really tacky. I usually limit myself to about 30 textures per map, but I sometimes hit 40.

Seventh:

If they do nothing, you put them in the wrong folder. They go in your HL directory, in my case C:SierraHalf-Life
They should overwrite two of the old dlls with the same name.

ALSO:

If you want to test transparency in models without playing HL, download Jed's HLMV (There's a link somewhere in the HIT forums)

EITHER:

Download the transparency dlls and save them over the original dlls which didn't have transparency coded in

OR

Use steam, which already supports transparency

in Lightning problem! Post #22272
Light_environment emits light from the sky. Light_spot can either emit light from the sky, or create a light that only lights up the area below it. Light produces a kinda crap lighting effect. Texlights produce a much more realistic lighting effect.

Hmm...they tend to throw grenades when there's no-one apart from their target(s) in their line of vision...I don't think the script will make them throw a grenade...the mp5 scripts don't do any damage...they just flash and make a noise. Also, to everyone: get Jed's HLMV (There's a link somewhere on http://hl-improvement.com). It's an improved version of the original, which supports transparency, and it has a greenish background instead of black, so you don't have to change the BG colour to make the model easier to see if it has black areas.
