Just noticed a little issue with the Shout! box. The scroll bar covers some of the box's text. I think that it's covering up more than the space the actual bar takes up. If you look at the shot, the word "left" in my shout has the entire f and t, as well as half of the e covered. I just wanted to point that out if it makes a difference when you fix it. :)

I'm also using Opera.

EDIT: Just noticed that it occures every other time a page loads, including refresh.

Yeah, the TWHL tutorial section is great for things like this - it coveres things from glass and func_rotatings to usable turrets and NPC setups. A lot of it is the same for Source, too... if you ever get the urge to come over to the dark side :badass: .

in Preventing map decompiling, REVEALED! Post #196512
It's simple:

If you want your work protected, use it.

If you want others to learn from your work, don't use it.

It's really all up to you guys. I personally probably wouldn't use it A) because im still a crappy mapper and have completed no maps at all, and B) dont really care if content is taken.

[qoute]Also for those of you who don't know.. its a fake trailer.. but would still rock.[/quote]
:)

It's an interesting idea I suppose, but Half-Life just doesnt seem like movie material - It would consist of killing zombies and bosses. I would much rather do that in a game, for obvious reasons.

On the note of favorite kinds of Half-Life related movies, I love the GMod movies where they have an overly-elaborite contraption to do somthing simple; I remember spending hours one day watching clip after clip and realizing I had spent over an hour and a half watching them. Good stuff :D .

Site's lookin' great. One problem though - I dont know if it's my web browser or some display issue but the 'search...' bar is overlapping some of the text. This occures in just about every page... at least the ones I've seen: forums, home, and registration.

Looking awesome, I can't wait untill the site really becomes active! :)

Ahh, well I considered that but you know how I am :D

Are there any entities from HL2SP that are unusable for GMOD? Or did you mean HL2DM? And on an other note, whats the name of the buggy and airboat entities?

EDIT: Oh, wait, I found the jeep entity, but when I compile, it doesn't appear :

in Has Steam Gone Crazy? Post #195245
I just got home from school. I saw Steam's task bar in the downloading phaze. Opened it up, and the demos are gone :o

On the note of a new tab... I think it's a fantastic idea, but I dont think Valve would comply. Demos are designed to sell games, and I personally would never look in the demos tab because I hate demos :D and thus the purpose of them would be spent.

Still though... Bejeweled is pretty fun  .

Striders need info_node_air_hints. Compared to other HL2 enemies, they're really stupid. They need to know where to move their legs, and know how high to put their heads. Otherwise, they wont move anywhere because they have absolutely no random-path AI to speak of.

lol. Just got that 5 minutes ago.

Any way of gettin rid of that junk?

ZL, "linkinparkfool25" is the name of my friend's account, I bought his account from him because he knows nothing about computers and tried to install HL2 in a 3-year-old laptop. If i had made the account, it would be "RotatorSplint" ;)

Its not the whole mod that sucked, it's just the gun. The gun can't be instant-teleport because it teleports dynamic objects like func_rotatings and buttons (as I accidentally found out : ). Plus, the portal doesnt re-angle motion, like the one Valve is making.

For a bunch of mappers and coders who dont work for any company, I think it's really quite good. You gotta look at the potential :) .

The 3D camera doesnt work? Thats probably due to the recent update that Valve released. Simply click the camera tool (the little button to the left that looks like a big red camera :) ) and click somwhere in one of the 2D views.

If you have lights in the map with a high enough brightness value and its not lighting up then im stumped because I've never heard of such problem :zonked:

in :[ Post #194784
Well, first, the thread title could have been a bit more descriptive. :)

Second, are you recieving this error in the console, or when you load the map?

Also, make sure you have lights in the map, otherwise (obviously) it will be pitch-black. In the cases where the room is lit, but the gun model is pure black, or pure brown (I've had cases where that's the issue), you can Alt-Tab out of the game and reenter and it will look like new again.

That link Jobabob posted is amazing. I recently downloaded a GMOD portal SWEP that works pretty well, but it doesnt maintain physics when changing angles: motion is kept with repsect to the world. Plus, it one-way, and is an instant-teleport. Has that version of the portal gun been hosted yet? It would be awesome to incorporate into GMOD

If you plan to use this model, will he be naked, like in the pictures, or are you practicing? Or are you just screwing around totaly for the hell of it? ;) He's pretty muscular too :cyclops: . If thats a tutorial you're following, I'd spring for XSI and start it right now!

On the note of constructive feedback: He already looks pretty damn good to begin with, so I can understand you, srry. I suppose his ribs make him look a bit gaunt compared to his head and upper torso. Perhaps a pic of the hands? Unless they're not made yet. :) My only other concern is the slope from the shoulder to the neck. The tendon in his back is definitely a necessity, but perhaps not that steeply transitioning.

Lookin great, can't wait to see the rest! :cyclops:

in Valve SDK Update Post #194154
Simple: They didn't have this crappy update when they made HL2 :D .

I had a similar issue. I was working on a high-detail brush to hold a window in place. Albeit, they were invalid brushes :D , but after the compile, and after I reloaded the map, the vertices were all thrown off, and I had to redo the whole thing (though that was inevitable ;) ). Regardless of the fact that they were bad brushes, I've never seen brush vertices thrown off after a comile and relaod : .

Yeah, I got a weird install issue with one of my games and the registry got screwed over, and SR fixed that for me. But it's not like I use it every day.

1.2 GB is plenty of space for SR, and if you set a restore point to a time that everything is the way you want it, then you really only need one!
