I'm not particularly excited for it. When I got Borderlands I sat down with a friend and played nonstop for about 36 hours until we had finished it. I never really had any desire to play it again after that.

I'm now at 473MB again. It's a pity these don't download like Steam, where if the connection cuts off then you can resume it again later, rather than starting again.

Getting Win7 has been postponed a week. I just tried out HL2 in Ubuntu, it seems to run with some graphical glitches, and the occasional very small lag spike. The physics system works quite well, although the sound doesn't. Now for the internal debate over whether I should get it today or leave it a week. D:

I'm thinking of emailing some of the members who were around when this map was uploaded. The chances of any of them still using those old email addresses are probably pretty slim though.

I think I had seen this map a few times but had never played it, so I did today. I liked it, although that first grunt was a bit tricky. I'm not much of a reviewer so I will leave it at that.

All I need is a charger and a copy of Windows to get my laptop working again so I can play it. I've got enough money in the bank for that. It's not like I need it for anything important like food, right? Right?

That type of doctor is called an otolaryngologist. And I get what you mean about not liking the feeling of things in your ears. My girlfriend asked to clean my ears once. It turned out she was using a straightened paperclip and she wasn't exactly careful with it either. Never again. Also, you should have at least gotten a discount for her not using sterilised tools.

Good idea for a tutorial. You should have posted it a bit sooner though, I've been making textures for my TWHL map and I had to figure this out by myself. D: I hadn't thought of putting several things on one texture file to save texture memory though. That is a good idea.

I see where you're coming from CT, but even so I would prefer to have a copy of XP for mapping with. Perhaps someday when I get a desktop I can install a second HDD with it on. Believe me, if it weren't for Hammer not working as well on it I would have no problem with only ever using Windows 7. And I'll try doing that Blitz. This laptop's like 5-6 years old though. Would they still do that?

Forgot to mention I don't have the installation disk. I don't want to torrent it for various reasons either. I might have a look to see how cheaply I could get a copy.

I thought of that PB. I've only logged into TWHL and YouTube. I kind of don't want to format because I like Windows XP (I never managed to get the 3D view in Hammer working properly in Windows 7 - depending on whether or not I used that OpenGL fix it would either run extremely slowly or I couldn't select stuff. Never had any problems with XP), but I am aware of the dangers involved. I have downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials, and that did successfully find and get rid of a trojan, but I'm still intending to play it safe. I will only use this computer for mapping and browsing. I think I still have my old copy of WON Half-Life, so I don't need to log into Steam at all.
And CT, I probably should just buy a new PC. My newer laptop keeps getting problems, and as soon as I fix them a new, unrelated one pops up.

I like the idea, but the few times I tried it there were no active servers. Or I just had connection problems. Either way, I haven't ever really had a proper chance to play it.

By the sound if it we won't be going to Brisbane after all. We are supposed to spend today shopping in the Gold Coast and tomorrow in Warner Bros Movie World. I will have to tell my other friend that I won't have an opportunity to meet him before he drives down here. :
And I've always wanted to watch Lost, if only to see what everyone was going on about. Maybe I shall when we get back.

I think my parents changed their minds at the last minute because we have friends here. We should be going to Brisbane during the week though. And I should probably know this, but who is John Locke?

If I were to ever get a wireless something-or-other it would be headphones. I've lost count of how many headphones I've accidentally destroyed over the years by pulling the wires out, usually by standing up without realising they're tangled up in something. And I've always wanted a few flight-sim games an a joystick to go with them.

The reason why I've never had a real job is that I live too far from Public transport, so I don't really have the means to commute every day. It's not quite 20 miles though.

I had a haircut recently but I need another one. It's just long enough now that it's in my field of vision, but unlike longish hair it simply won't stay brushed out of the way.

My old laptop had a few buttons like that iirc. I think most of them were just keyboard functions but there was one at the top with the power and wireless buttons that would open some proprietary media program. I suppose it looked pretty enough, and it could open every media file type I knew of at the time, but it was slow as balls. If I still had that laptop now I would have probably uninstalled it then figured out how to set that button to open Hammer, but I don't have it anymore.

As has been pointed out a few times, cigarettes are about the buzz, and cigars are about the flavour. I have tried cigarettes, but I personally don't like them. Everyone I've talked to about it has mentioned that they love the feeling, but it just made me feel sick tbh. Cigars however, I do like. There's a brand of cigars (or perhaps they're cigarello's?) they have here that leave a nice spicy taste on your tongue, and they seem to modify the taste of food and drink. For example, drinking a mouthful of Coke after a puff gives the taste of berries. I have however learned to smoke cigars with caution. About a year ago I smoked a massive Cuban cigar in the space of a few minutes on a night out. I didn't inhale any of the smoke, but the nicotine must have absorbed through the inside of my mouth. As soon as we left the bar and went into the fresh air(I was technically outside in the smoking area, but the air wasn't very fresh), the feeling hit me like a freight train. I felt extremely dizzy, and for the next ten minutes I was fighting the urge to throw up. Since then I have smoked cigars somewhat sparingly.

I'm actually in Brisbane now PB, waiting in a departure lounge for a plane to Cairns. I don't think I could get anywhere before I have to board though. And the weather here is actually warmer than the weather we left back home, and that was uncharacteristically warm.
Also, good luck!
