wow i never took into account different monitor brightnesses... maybe i'll just add a note in the readme that the map is optimized on my machine for fullbrightness, but to feel free to adjust individual brightnesses to taste.

"We need variety and contrast on this site." BOLLOCKS
Seriously tho, i find the current layout pretty and easy on the eyes. If i had to look at a black/grey theme layout like SnarkPit for any period of time, i'd have to tear out mine eyes.. = (

"Hopefully, the way that it's being coded will make it easy to make changes/additions/upgrades without making me want to kill myself" I hope so too Commander, FOR YOUR SAKE =)
Orange and yellow for win. Anything else, is a waste of material(and subsequently fails). Not preserving the main theme would be a big mistake imo...

That's in hammer?! = 0 You should totally put that in the vault. looks amazing... (i might trade kidney for a peak at the .rmf, or even .bsp...)
Awesome hammer model is awesome. win.
And yeah it's crazy a car from 1985 gets better mileage than the most ultra-economy pieces-o-shit out today, and even beats out some of the expensive hybrids. I've herd some people boast they can get 70-80mpg with their CRXs(if that's true, they beat any hybrid i've ever read about)..
My friend had one for a junker to drive back/forth to work for years(he had a 30-mile commute to work everyday)... i soooo wanted to buy it when he got rid of it...
Why did you guys end up selling it if you don't mind me askin?

God i wish i had time to buy a car and work on it... i envy you. = )
If i were buying something today to rebuild it'd be an old Honda Civic CRX... Great on gas mileage and parts readily available. A.k.a. the poor-man's Porsche..

I'm interested just to see what it would "feel" like to be on the ship wehn rocking, like if you'd be able to move properly, or if you perhaps if you can notice the movement at all.
you could also try doing this with a simpler mockup of the ship for testing purposes...

Very nice stuff!
I don't know a lot about source mapping but it looks really professional to me. The train, the flaying things searching above and sounds made the map feel pretty real. Most texturing and structures were great and great use of detail with models.
I only took a quick run through the map, but the only negative thing i can think of--which is also a relatively minor thing--is the choice of texture for all those white panel doors. Plus, the door handles while they look/reflect very nicely, are scaled a bit too big and look really weird.
Very nice map! maybe when i lern A LOT more about source mapping i'll re-review, but for now, this map looks like 5 to me. = )

I found this cleaning my map archive, and i have to say i'm just as impressed now as i was the first time i saw it. 'tis one of the prettier things in terms of brushwork i've ever seen built in hammer. One of the really neat things too, is the simplicity/elegance in which you're able to pull of a very smooth, pretty result, and with also a bare minimum pf brushes.
The step-by-step stages of building the staircase is also very nice. the only thing that could make this better is to make a small little demonstration map for it....
Superb stuff! = )
(standby 'till next year's annual review, lol!) = )
absolutely amazing. This mod was so FUN to play, i want to give a try and make my own horror mod.. = )
++Superb gameplay ++Superb theme, well-executed ++neat "scary" effects, doodads, and tricks. ++Intro = pwn... me likey1 ++great texturing and lighting +good use of sound
-after the open courtyard with the moon "falls" i lost interest and stopped playing. Mod was super-strong in all respects up to this point. -needed more combat at a higher level of difficulty. -architecture is adequete, but a bit a bit squarish/blocky in areas (not a big concern)
This is the most-fun/entertaining mod i can remember playing in a long time. I love the atmosphere you pull off... it reminds me of the haunted house at disney... It's obvious you put a lot of time and sweat into this: Bravo! = )

Yeah same, i didn't understand what happened the first time, but when i realized... Just really cool! = )
++superb theme, fresh for this project. +Brushed very well. Nothing overly exotic but very pretty and errorless ++Textures look great +lighting looks great +neat misc "scary" effects (i don't want to elaborate to make spoilers) +cool sound
Really excellent stuff, and a neat twist compared to the other rooms submitted so far. The horror genre is pwn, and i think down the road it would be cool to do a coop dedicated to just "horror" rooms.
Superb work, and another very high-quality map to add to the project! Your mapping powers are getting stronger everytime you release a new map. I think you and some other mappers who've submitted rooms (most others actually) are at, or quickly approaching "expert" skill level.

Super-Excellent!
Everything was great: sound, textures, and the first world of mario are mapped perfectly. The only letdown was, when you turned big (got hev suit) you couldn't break the brick blocks (by jumping nor even crowbar)
This first-person, 2d view (forward and backward) is a really cool idea! great work!

ok grim, you win! = ) (i also read that openGL is a couple generations behind in terms of utilizing your system resources fully, so in that respect doing a furmark will not be an accurate tool to gauge your system under stress? in other workds, would a directx test give you higher temps?)

yeah, my gpu gets super hot when i do any gaming, even L4D. I can put my coffee cup next to the vent and it keeps it warm for a long time, i'm not joking.... I just read something that said furmark only tests OpenGL? If that's true, it's fairly useless to run for any reason nowadays i guess... right? (still is see a lot of people mention using it to test there new video drivers)
I just ran it again for 20 minutes with new drivers, and my temp maxed out at 81 C.. Striker, i notice you get much higher average and peak fps than me: with the same settings, my average fps hovered only at about 23, and my peak was as shitty 29 fps... (nvidia 9800m gts 512)
i agree you should include bsp... can't we just type "buildcubemaps" in the console when we load your bsp? Plus, why have an alternative download in the map comments when you can just update the original downlaod link?
Looks pretty good from what i can see:
+realistic water +neat gadgets (the swinging platform is interesting, "fruit vent" lol) +Everything seems nicely-build/detailed, and some interesting
-don't really get the point of the map -the underwater sequences seem pointless to me (do they have a purpose i'm not seeing? -what is the point of the aquarium thingie underneath the floor(water) in the first room?
Thanks to all that responded = )

Don't most if not all new games use directx? Doesn't make for a very accurate benchmark imo...
