That respawn thing is neat how did you do that?!
This looks like a really well-made knife arena. I like the concise yet very pretty bruswork, texture choices, and custom sky.
Map could be bigger no big deal, as you say it's for experimental purposes to test the low-poly construction and quake gamestyle.
Nitpicks: the lighting is rather bleak but so what for a KA map, and the directory structure is missing the gfx subdirectory(tho probably most people playing 1.6 know where the files go =P)

Yeah good point!
After rereading your account, that seems to be a pretty extreme blackout adventure off only 7 shots of tequila. (don't get me wrong 7 shots is a lot, but doesn't account for all that!)
I'm infatuated with self-constructing doodads and func_tanks too, and with the flexibility of the source I/O system, almost anything possible. Hit me up on google talk if you'd like to bounce ideas back and forth =P
I don't play many SP mods, nor have i ever played through ep1 nor ep2, so i don't really have a great frame of reference to judge, but i have to say i really thought the environment was interesting and realistically detailed, if not a bit repetitive "bare" in a few areas.
I thought the gameplay was pretty difficult, but again, i don't play these types of games too often. (i really liked the player-controlled turrets btw, did you create them, or are they an existing game asset?)
I agree that some more sounds, and perhaps some music, especially at the cutscenes and combat areas, would really improve the gameplay experience and belivability in general.
I really liked the technical details like the vid screens, control rooms, and buttons, but again, i would recommend trying to make some changes to make areas visibly distinct from each other, as it all kinda looks/feel very homogenous imo.
BTW, i LOVED the apartment at the beginning! (i've always wanted to make a converted loft/studio apartment like that, nice job!)
How much time do you have into this? Even though some areas are overly simplistic, i can recognize a TON of work went into building this, and you have more discipline in your little finger than have in my whole body, to even attempt a project this big. kudos!
It's not perfect and some areas lace polish, but this definitely rates better than a 3 out of 5 in my book; 5 for balance and the balls to take something this big!

lol i call overkill!
Unless it's variable speed, and haz a flexible wand attachment, then it could be the perfect option, as you can blow the leaves off your driveway when you are done with your computer =)

What do you use to clean your fans?
I've been looking for an alternative to airduster for a while now. I know i could simply use an air compressor air gun, but air compressors hold moisture in the tank, so i shy away from that.
Eventually, i'd like to fork over the money for a canless air system, but man are they pricey!
And yeah, those fans get caked up quick! i blow out the intakes and exhaust on my laptop every couple weeks, and it's amazing to see the crap that comes out of there
Edit Just found this one for $60, so i guess that's not so pricey after-all =P

Extremely dodgey!
It's just a metal shelf screwed into drywall. The even dodgier part, is the piece of plastic closeline holding up the free edge of the shelf, that's just out of the picture frame =P
The good thing, it frees up space in my already very-small room, and i can vacuum under it =P

Ghost: yeah, there is not much to the case, but the fact that the red LED resembles a cylon, is a big plus for me =)
Clearly, the machine isn't perfect, but it's fine for the little bit of casual gaming and mapping i do, so i'm happy enough, and it's a huge improvement over my old Core 2 Duo machine =)
Maybe I'll add an SSD down the road, and that will be the last bit of money i will put into her..

The 650 was on sale(retail) for under $100, so i just bought it.
i realize i could have saved some money and got something better online, but because the case is so compact, i half expected to have to return it for not being able to fit the card in

yes rufee it is, unfortunately yes ='(
At least though after upgrayedding(spelt thusly, for a double-dose of it's pimping) the power supply and gfx card, it's very decent machine compared to what i'm used to using. That said, i will never by a prebuilt "bargain" computer again

FYI, I recently tried to play this again, but starting a new game makes the mod exit to windows for me fsr? (i didn't try manually opening a map from the console, so it might still work that way)
Anyhoo this was really really awesome. Hopefully we can do a cubicles two for source?

If you eliminated the orange light from the interiors(so it doesn't look like the outside) i think it would be much better, but this map is so much better than anything i could make, i really shouldn't say anything

Looks great man, the only distraction i notice from the screens is the lighting is too monochromatic for my tastes, and the interiors should have major contrast from outside. Otherwise, this map looks like win all around, well done on another amazing GoldSrc creation! =)

I don't understand why some sites are so nazi with passwords, but it's for you own protection i guess.
Isn't the password kinda irrelevant anyway, since the more important/secure sites won't except a login from a unverified location? (or can that be spoofed/circumvented too?)

Ya! I'm curious to see how much quicker to compile time is as well, especially since I have a quadcore now. (VHLT supports multi-core processing, correcto?)

Always make sure you eat before drinking like this, and if u can't eat, pounding a litre of water just before will help
Great blackout-drunk story btw! KIDS, DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME =P
Now I want to paly some Doom II!
I want one of these too, and a 3d printer, but I'm going to wait on until the thing makers are a little better..
Have fun! =p
If/when you can pull off the 5 o'clock shadow, i'd go with this look. (scars and earplugs optional)
Stojkens: Short hair also suits you, but your second pic looks good as well, very much like one of the vampire leaders from twilight, lol! =)
Ponytails however, are always frowned upon!

(from what i can make out from the screen, it reminds me of a Veritech fighter in guardian mode, how cool!)

I too have yet to try the alpha, but I will soon, especially now that I can get the content from steam!
Just wonderful stuff man, incredible!
Best of luck in the contest man! =P
Also, hope to see some more maps from you soon =)

My only complaint is the texture scale of the plywood from the seems a little too big, but i know this IS GoldSrc, and it looks good nonwitstanding
If i do any more GS test maps like this, i will definitley try the new compile tools! =P
