Sadly there is much truth in what you say, too much.
I've not been here very long, but I also noticed a decrease of the quality of the members, the topic we talk about and the maps that are submitted.
But you all just can't let this place die.
This was the first community that I really loved, because it was different.
It was more familial than all the other places.
This community encouraged me on my return to mapping. I stopped mapping about one year before I joined because there where no such good communities. Mapping wasn't what it used to be, until I found this place.
Here I've had people that didn't only care about CS and making multiplayer mods. This was what I was looking for.
And now, after a short good time, I have to see it dying?
This really really saddens me.

I know that it's expensive. That's why I don't use it.
I guess you either must get a trial of 3dsmax4, if that exists, or format your HDD to reset milkshapes trial state.

This can occur when you place the func_pushable sumberged in water, place it on an unclipped skybrush or somehow shoot an entity or model atthrough a skybrush.
You're not supposed to put it onto a skybrush. Putting it onto a skybrush which is not clipped (not solid) can cause this error.

I won't support this, so you must find out how to use milkshape after expiration.

When you've finished your model and exported everything to .smd, you must create a .qc file for the model and use an .mdl compiler.
Milkshape makes this quite easy.

D'oh!
I'm not really sure what you did there.
Just launch wally, and open the pak0.pak in the valve folder.
Rightclick the folder you want to extract and click 'extract'.
Now choose a destination and wally will start extracting.

'Fit' is almost as evil as carving. It's important to learn how the texture application tool works.
Did you click the 'insert original prefab' button to create the trashcan?
Maybe your prefabs library is screwed up. Reinstall!
If the textures are only shifted a bit, you can just shift them back into place with the texture application tool.

Here's one method of faking this:
Create a func_train and let it follow the desired path. Make it invisible.
Create an env_laser that targets the train.
Now set the end sprite.
Issues:
  • The movement is very laggy.
  • The sprite is in additive/glow mode and there's not way to change that.
  • There mustn't be any obstacles between the laser and the train.
  • Same applies for the path of the train.
Another method:
Again create a train, this time make it hollowed.
Place an env_shooter inside the train and set up the sprite.
Before the train starts, trigger the env_shooter.
The movement might look a bit better than in the other method.
Issues:
  • Again there mustn't be monsters/players on the path.

It's not a model.
You just extracted the textures, screwed them up and colored them blue.
Putting another head onto the suit isn't a big thing either.
That requires no special skills, everybody can do that.
It's okay that you made it, to learn. But don't always present your 10 minutes work pieces to the whole world.

Sorry, I don't want to judge on your website. But it is obvious that you're not very familiar with making websites.
There is no structure in it, you don't know where to look at first. Everything looks like puzzled together without a real concept. There three scrollbars on the site, which isn't good either.
Actually only very few people here have a decent website.
I don't even have one anymore. After I noticed that my website was as noobish as all the others, I deleted it and started working on a better one.

If you really want attention you must learn how to build a website without using those crappy programs like frontpage.
Also you have to have a certain amount of knowledge of things like creating images, HTML based websites, building maps etc.

Without steam, valve would still bring out updates for the normal HL version.

I'm not familiar with CS mapping.
You could let a trigger_once trigger a game_counter.
Let the trigger_once cover the entire map.
If the game_counter is not reset after a round it should work.
Set it's limit to '2'.
The trigger_once must be reseted of course, otherwise it'll not work.
