When I was in Chicago, we actually ate at an Outback Steakhouse (mostly due to the proximity of our hotel). Great food, and more importantly lots of it. Then again, American portions always seem huge to us :3. We had a great waitress too. Come to think of it, that's probably one of the best chain-whatever meals I've ever had.

Free education should be the basis of all democracies. Naturally, all education should be free (e.g. tuition fees are universally abolished).

That's always been my firm belief. If it works here, it'd work anywhere.

Actually, Natal seems to be targeting the casual audience much more than the regular X360. I don't know about "wii-killer", since the wii already has a fairly solid market position, but it definitely looks cool.

To potatis_invalid: You keep saying "doesn't work without JavaScript". You make it sound like if it's a problem
Oh boy. Read up on graceful degradation in favour of (and this is important) accessability. Of course, this mandates proper use of web standards for both HTML and CSS (by the way, seperating the layers of a web site is warmly recommended, both in terms of accessibility and maintenance of a site) . Trust me, it will make life a lot easier regarding cross browser computability, error tracking and the ever-so-important SEO in the long run.

I know this might be a lot to take in and consider at first case, but start by learning proper, valid, semantic HTML (it's not hard), styled by valid CSS and the rest will come easy. Especially if you hang around useful help channels like #css and #html on freenode, or read useful tutorials on sites like htmldog.
http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_intro.asp
Avoid w3schools. They're not affiliated with W3 and have been known to advice bad practice as well as using examples containing syntax errors. There're better sources (like the W3 specs).

Totally, like, religion. Who needs it?

Regarding hell and shit, from what I've read hell is not literal brimstone and hellfire, but is rather a parable for the absence of God. Eg. it's a separation from God according to the choice you made in life. That's how I remember it, anyway.

GJ to satchmo. Luckily, we live in a society where freedom of religion doesn't run so far you can willingly endanger the life of your child. The next logical step is to ban circumcision.

The difference between the Trojan War and the Red Cliff battle is that the Chinese conflict has extensive historical documentation. That single battle determined the course of Chinese history and founded the Three Kingdom era.

The Trojan War was based primarily on mythology.
What does the Trojan War have to do with 300?

The Battle of Thermopylae has quite an extensive historical record.

in PCI graphic card type Post #263746
PCI graphic cards have not been used for more than a decade - the current standard slot is called PCI-Express
Looking up that motherboard, it seems to have an AGP 8x port, which means no PCI-Express graphics for you. Look up graphics cards supporting AGP instead (there are still a few decent alternatives). Preferably, you should upgrade your motherboard, along with your CPU - AGP is getting incredibly old.

The RAM supported for your motherboard is DDR - again, very old technology. The newest stuff today has DDR3 support, a full 2 versions above your motherboard. If you really want to keep the motherboard, look up DDR RAM sticks.

in OMG ! c++ problem Post #263403
for is like a simplified version of while. You can accomplish for loops easily with a while loop - consider for-loops like a shortcut.

int i = 0;
while(i < 10) {
i++;
cout << "i has value: " << i;
}
[/pre] is EXACTLY the same as [pre]
for(int i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
cout << "i has value: " << i;
}
Basically, for is a while-loop with built-in variable declaration (int i = 0), conditional (i < 10), and action to perform each loop (i++).

Stop learning useless windows functions and start learning programming for real. Start by getting in-depth knowledge of object oriented programming - make your own classes and instantiate your own objects, and get comfortable with it.

A task we had in programming class while doing basic OOP was make your own simple card deck - start with a Card object with appropriate properties and methods, then move onto a Deck object, consisting of, perhaps, an array of Card objects.

I thought this was a pretty good way to get the hang of what you could do with OOP without the program getting too complicated. Mind, I'm not very good with C++, and I don't think I ever will be. Fucking annoying code. Anyway, if you want my old deck classes for reference or something, I'll poast.

Edit: Oh, and when posting code, use
[pre]
[/pre].

I'm not saying there aren't consequences to gun ownership, but there's a lot more to the picture than just that.
Of course. But increased gun control is one of the factors that will likely bring crime down (again, over a longer period of time).
Do we have to get all touchy-feely about criminals? They get what they deserve, it's called justice.
First off, we were talking about insane people, who really don't deserve punishment at all. Second, the death penalty is as unethical as murder.

I made a fat edit to my post but potatis went and ruined it as I was typing. Asshole.

Anyway, yes, the US has a much more violent culture than other countries - and I'm making the case that it wouldn't be as bad if there had been stricter gun control from the beginning. I know you're all very proud of your founding fathers trying to protect their people from the govt., but the scenario doesn't really apply to modern society. We don't have imperial Brits running around trying to take over anymore. There is a price to pay for liberal gun laws; just compare the US to most other western nations in terms of violent crime and you'll notice the difference.
When you commit a crime so heinous--in this case killing your damn parents--, I think the issue should be one of public safety.
Closed medical care. I reiterate: insane people cannot be held completely responsible for their actions, but should of course be removed from society as a matter of public safety. The judicial system doesn't really hold up with insane people; our whole concept of justice is based on people being held responsible for their actions. If you've got a mental condition and really can't separate right from wrong, you can't be treated the same as a sane person. The crime is still as heinous, but the criminal is less responsible.

Captain Terror and Luke, you're basically Hitler, fyi.
Also, an unarmed public is just asking for a corrupt government to walk all over them.
Give me one example of a modern democracy that's been turned into dictatorship because of a lack of firearms. Mind, most western democracies employ a much stricter gun control than the US. For the rest of your post, did you even read mine? And not just the TL;DR part.

The education systems in Japan and China are almost universally superior to those in western countries, if we're to look at just knowledge attained - especially in maths. They have a radically different teaching methodology, as previously mentioned, and it's not because they're "run like strict regimes", but more often because they employ better pedagogics. True, the pressure to succeed in Japanese schools is often much higher than here, and there are of course downsides to their system, but don't be so hasty in proclaiming it's "because they're a bunch of fascists". With that attitude, it's no wonder the western world is slipping up.

Oh, and just about any "the problem with America..." argument in this thread could be applied to any western nation.

in Kid kills parents over Halo 3 Post #260384
If he, himself, can not judge right from wrong, than he can die in jail and I hope he does.
No, if he, himself, cannot judge right from wrong he has a serious mental condition and deserves mental care, not jail time. His insanity case basically wrote itself the moment he shot both his parents for not being allowed to play a game.
Everyone posting stuff like "I hope he dies/rots/gets life", whatever, sort of scares me. This is clearly a case of insanity, and being so, the defendant cannot be held completely responsible for his actions. Yes, he needs to be institutionalised and receive some help, but jail time won't solve anything, except getting him off the streets - something institutionalising would do too.

Regarding gun control...
In fact, the FBI's latest crime report shows, that despite gun ownership in the US being at an all-time high, murders are down 43% since 1991, and violent crime has dropped 38%. Also, versus national average, right-to-carry states (states that allow you to carry a firearm in public) have a 28% lower murder rate, 50% fewer robbery incidents, and 24% lower overall violent crime rates.
What you need to do is compare countries without a history of incredibly liberal gun laws to the US. I suspect you'll find stricter gun policies go hand in hand with lower murder and violent crime rates.
Outlawing guns now would likely not have much of an effect on violent crime in the US, seeing as how every criminal already owns a gun - there's already an established culture of gun ownership. However, enabling stricter gun control over a longer period of time would probably help... good luck making that case in the US, though.

TL;DR countries with better gun control > the US.
