If it shows in hammer but not in CSS or HL2 then it is missing...Hammer and HL2 / CSS have their own folders for materials so you can if you wanted have textures appear in hammer by pasting the files in the hammer sdk folder and not in HL2 or you can paste in hl2 and Hammer to see them both.

Heh ever since I started mapping I see games differently...Like I sort of criticise area's and other times I go wow that must have taken a lot of entity work...

Mapping gets a bit boring so I often play games more than map. I'm addicted to this game called Lineage 2...Like WoW only I think it's better.

Nice sky but it isn't a 3D skybox...Thats a moving sky...A 3D skybox enables the mapper to use a camera to enlarge tiny building models into larger version that take less RAM and display around the edges...

Looks like a graphic card problem...Console is fine so I don't think HL2 is the problem. Does it do this with all games? CSS?

You should buildcubemaps so your map looks better on the eyes...

Screen

Not bad but kind of empty and bland...Add decals and some metal arches and platforms around the edges.
How about some control rooms high up that are held by pillars and posts.

Just a thought but when you go on dodgy websites it installs stuff that shouldn't be there so press ctrl alt delete and check the programs running.

If you see System programs that have slightly different names like:

Lsass then close it and scan for viruses, turn on pop-up blocker and uhh thats it.

I am not entity knowledgeable however if I was to do this effect I would have a trigger that makes the barney disspear e.g. kill? or teleport perhaps...Then I would make it trigger after a few seconds to spawn those butterflies (Xen ones) via s monster_spawn or something.

I haven't tried this and HL1 mapping is a lot tougher in my opinion...
Perhaps Elon can be of assistance.

Ah yes I can perhaps aid you there...
You see the triggering system is a lot easier than the HL1 in my opinion but it takes a little while to get used to.

The thing that makes it easy is you can use 'outputs' to simple target whatever and do whatever and click ok.

So when you say want to trigger something to break you make an object func_breakable, you then make a brush covered in the trigger texture which is orange. You click tie to entity while clicking on the orange trigger texture and a box comes up. You then scroll down the list of entities in this box to trigger_once or multiple depending on what you want. I would suggest once because once it breaks it don't come back.

Now click the output tab and you will see add at the bottom. If you click add a line appears on the table above. You then choose the name of the entity, what it does aka breaks and something else...I can't remember because i'm writing this off the top of my head.

Hope this helps a little and if not then explain whats wrong and i'll try to help. I could even make an example if necessary.

Ah I see my tutorial helped then.
Looking great although some of the textures look a tiny bit stretched however I really like the theme and you have made use of great architecture combined with the egyptian textures to make a interesting custom map.

I'm curious about those shiny physic balls..I don't suppose you could post a link to the texture without being shiny? I like the effect and I have yet to accomplish it.

Not bad, not bad at all...
Too many light props however but yes it has improved since the last time so keep updating it and posting and we will gladly give you suggestive tips.

The dam outside is getting there but it needs work so look at reference pictures and Rabid's superb map.

The thing I like the most is the shapes that you used.
Your one out of a million to actually use interesting floor shapes and it really makes your map look great.

This may be korny but have you considered having a Italian boat that moves around and takes you around the back area where the bomb site lies.

Just think of something thats cool and possibly new...I have always wanted to make a nice peaceful type forest with a nice river to sit on and meditate.

My skills are not good enough for that unfortunately.

They also don't block leaks so only assign func_detail to complex brushes with many parts...Aka an arch.
