Yeah. After this i kinda want to continue my work with Demonic Puppy Games rather than make a more solid team out of our bunch.

Anyhoo. Lets get some shit over with:

1. This mod will be finished. Stop asking, commenting on its near-death experiences. Me and Daubster at least have the passion to finish it. The rest of the team, while i get the feeling don't share the same passion, are all A-grade mappers and will get the job done.

2. The workload we have, while large, does not excuse the current age of the mod's development. (2 years, 9 months)
I mostly blame
? My poor leadership. First time leading a team, and it's really difficult when you don't all share the same communication methods to chase people.
? People leaving and screwing us over. <cough>Unbreakable</cough>
? Negative input from a lot of you lot. It might sound stupid, but seriously. when the general feeling is that nobody fucking cares anymore, it gets harder and harder to work on this.

3. fucking gutted @ lack of new weapons.

Muzz: Please finish your map. It was "almost done" a year ago. ONE map. ffs.

Srry: Increase pace a bit, perhaps? Keep me informed more.

Kasperg: Keep me informed more.

Daubster : Increase pace a bit? Be careful with the new story elements in your chapter.

Me: Get. Hammer 3.5. Working.

Gargly: lolwut? helloooo? :'(

no more messing around. If you don't do the work - you're off the team.

Or are you still happy doing both?

nope.

running pretty smoothly right now.

And (if you did end up using it, mate) Daubeh has come up with a map which blows minds, so yay for that.

I'm sure he'll get some media out soon. I, unfortunately can't map with Vista, so i'll have to wait until i get a partitioned XP on this machine before i can make any updates on the mapping side which is a pain, but since i'm pretty much finished my chapter anyway, it's not going to hold back the mod.

Some companies are probably paid by ATI and Nvidia to convince users that they NEED a new SM3 card, and that their gameplay experience has been flawed until they actually had one.
well duh. Not to mention the fact that developers want to get people off old technology ASAP so that they don't have to make things back-compatable. It's easier for them to work for newer technologies.

I agree with Srry here, especially about gameplay.
I do not, however, agree about the textures being low-res. They most definately are not. Up your graphics settings before making a judgement like that. The game can be immensely pretty at times, and despite repetative fighting gameplay, the combat is generally well spaced out with epic moments. In the demo for example - the plane mid-section smashing into the connecting hallway, flooding it with water and fishies. Moments like that are just cool.

The advert boasts 70 different plasmids & the ability to customise weapons and make your own ammo, too, which is pretty good.

What do you think about the hacking mini-game?

in Quick (Easy) coding question Post #232524
no. It's a program. A GUI for coding. that's it.
C++ is the language. Microsoft Visual C++ is a program which makes coding easier.

BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer method of obtaining less than legal files(mostly) and people, myself included, are not giggling at that, we're giggling at the fact you thought HL was coded in VB.

it seems to be a common, but not definate occurance.

A friend of mine has the exact same problem, which proved very confusing when i sent him a .vmf we were co-making.
I'd just added some displacements, and he IM'd me asking why i'd put the grass on the wrong side. Compiled; it looked like it did in my hammer, but in his hammer it was the wrong way round.

So i have no real answer, but simply the info that you're not the only one.

in AI to assault a point Post #232407
hey.

So i haven't really tried anything with HL2's AI yet, and thusly, i'm pretty clueless about how to set anything up. Maybe you can help :combine:

SO, what i want is for 10 combine soldiers, created with an npc_maker, to run to a point in the map, but still attack the player and other enemies.
Purely guessing, i tried the ai_goal_assault entity, with the rally point set as the name of an info_target i had in the location i wanted them to run to, and the name of the combine in the Actor(s) to affect field.
The entity is triggered by a logic_auto - Onmapspawn, BeginAssault (60.5 second delay)

Upon spawning, the combine do nothing, though.

Halp?

edit:
the map has plenty of nodes, so the AI should be able to find its way to the destination no bother.
